to this day i truly believe if he didn’t celebrate the last 20 or so meters he would have beat the record by even more. it looked like he was running faster than ever here
if he was running at full might...the record he created might have lasted for a hundred years
This isnt true. If you look at the 10 meter splits Usain was running faster the whole way during his 9.58. This would have likely been a 9.62 if he didnt slow down
It wasn't Usain but Asafa who ran the last lap
@@AD-kv8iu I think he's talking about the 100m sprint and not the 4x100m relay.
It is already in his name 9.58
I miss Usain Bolt competing on the Olympics. The LEGEND. The one and only, G.O.A.T. Salute.
This man somehow has the power to blow any patriotic feelings I have for my own country out of the window. The roar of that crowd says I am not alone. I just hope that he has inspired his successor out there in the world somewhere to take up athletics because I don't know what the sport is going to do without him.
there’s tons of them in jamaica just wait and see

i really want to go back to that exact day you typed this comment, life was awesome
True. He’s the definition of a world champion, and not just coz he won. He’s inspirational as a human.
When I look back at Bolt’s achievements I have to come to the conclusion that he wasn’t even human. He consistently ran against the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th fastest men in history and made them look like ordinary 9-5 workers trying their hands at sprinting.
It’s just shocking, he really was cut from a different cloth.
Haha, Usain himself crossed the finish line jogging before the last guy finished his relay race! :D
Usain could have run the last 200m himself and won
write2pras84 dude it’s teams
write2pras84 lol no that was a 3rd leg from a different relay team
@@pietervanbon1084 haha maar kk ben toch voor jamaica
Rhino SINGH LIKE A GOOD
Imagine Bolt not doing celebration before he finished. It could me more faster.
He is another level.
I think in 2008 Olympics 100 m Olympics final, Usain bolt could made the world record even more faster than in 2009 (9.58 sec).
Didn’t get a great start either, kinda dragged his toe on his second step. Idk if this guy’s records will be broken in my lifetime
@@trentalexander-maguire7813 the 200m records doesn't look safe at all
@@trentalexander-maguire7813 He would have probably ran a 9.60 or something like that.
The performance was better because the wind was way worse.
His reaction time here was actually worse, but the start was still faster. He lost a bit of time in the middle section, however.
His splits say that he was about as fast as his 9.58 WR considering he started to celebrate around 80m (his motion seems to start a few meters before that).
@@theknowledgeuniverse6648 did you mean faster? Not "more faster"?
The gap between Usain Bolt and the rest of the world's greatest sprinters is something we might never see again.
We will if they don't test.
@@Scubooty well yeah😅
@@Scubootybut they do test 😅
@@Scubootyi think you are American lol. 😅
@@Scubootyi’m pretty sure he got tested after this race and every world record, and there is no drug to increase speed
Bolt did the maximum disrespect and messed up his form at the last seconds, and still won. You know doing that can slow you down a lot and to keep that up shows that he really is special and one of a kind.
Messed up his form how?
@@aaronbarlow4376 dropping his arms and turning to the side
Young blood of course will tend to do so.
And STILL brroke the World Record. Amazing.
@@aaronbarlow4376 by starting his celebration with 20 meters to go.
Powel's run in last leg was just perfect
The transition from Usain to Asafa was phenomenal. It looked like they gain at least 5 meters just by that.
he definitely lives up to his name
True
How many times do you think Bolt has been tested for drugs? I can bet every time he runs, especially if he breaks a record.
No drugs. He is just magnificent.
Absolutely, the greatest!
That is just a dream. I am a really big fan of Bolt but such competitions are not winable without drugs. Human body can not possess such energy naturally
Talha Emir Demirgan Please, do not speak about things you clearly don't know anything about
Giulio Palermo Keep dreaming mate. Saying Bolt is natural is like saying Ronnie Coleman is natural
call me cons There is no need to be God to know it
I'm never going to get over this video
+MrTattyBoJangles47 once you find out he was doping you will
They're probably all doping tbh
+BlueBaron you don't think they test them? Lol
NewOrleansSaints922 They can't test for every drug.
Just watched it again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I honestly don't think anyone will ever beat the 4x100 time, at least in my lifetime. They had 2 of the best sprinters we've ever seen on that team.
+pgorney Amazingly, the record was beaten at the 2012 Olympics. The USA tied this record and Jamaica ran a 36.85. Incredible! You have to watch the race if you haven't seen it.
+Noah Freitas And in 2012 olympics 4x100 the world saw 3 of the best sprinters to have ever existed on the same team.
Ryder Washington asafa wasnt on the team an he is faster than frater and carter that was on if he was on it the record would be wreck
lilly brown these relay times can go much lower, just imagine Bolt, Gatling, Blake and Gaye at their best and on the same team.
lilly brown yeah I wish Asafa was there but fraters leg was under 9 seconds and it was actually faster than Blake
It feels so weird watching him run third leg in a relay lol
True, but I believe, any where bolt fit is a win , I guess 3 Rd leg was to ensure he brings it to the last leg first. Unlike if he had to wait for it in the last leg.
That was a genius move by the coach
He runs the turn better than everyone else
It is strategy.
Asafa Powell ran a great last leg, because there was no pressure
We are witnessing a living legend ladies & gentlemen
Y TUVIMOS EL PRIVILEGIO DE VERLO. TRES OROS EN TRES OLIMPIADAS. DIFICIL QUE SE REPITA EN ESTE SIGLO.
Bolt 9.69 in Beijing is the most amazing thing i ever watched in sport, even better than his WR of 9.58. imagine if he never had slowed in his last 20m. Probably he would had finished it in around 9 .50s
Nope according to his splits he would’ve dipped under 9.6
powell slayed that last leg. litteraly no one else in the camera
slay queen
Great form
Comb In His Headpiece 4 x 100 m is teams
I’m A HAND They all know it’s teamed.
Ikr xd
If he didn't start celebrating before the finish line he was looking at around 9.61 maybe even high 9.5s
Joe Chichester maybe 9:58 more like it
+Joe Chichester He's saving it to break it in 2012
+PhantomlordPL 2016
That record is unbreakable I think.
Rapixtray
I think someone will... Because records keep falling. His world record in 2009 is just 9 years old.. so let us wait for some decades ...
they're so ridiculously ahead for the relay it's really funny
2020 olympics felt empty without the legend on the track
Today people cheer for Usain instead of USA and that is incredible
Let's get this clear, only Americans cheered for the US. Everyone else was aware of the shameless doping that goes on behind the scenes.
2008 and 2012 Will not be repeated again. It will take at least 50 Years
Youre wrong
Oh really? 🤔
The new shoes make a big difference
2:34 bolt crossing the finish line as well😂😂
I still get chills every time I see him winning the gold 100 meter - pounding his chest he blew everyone away. Incredible athlete.
I just returned from the future. Bolt son is running 8secs. 🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖
He made the 100m (single) look so effortless.. Amazing
Ikr. I think if yohan Blake got into the 400(Relay). The world record could have been even a big surprise.
More than any world event this sticks out in my memory from being a kid. I wouldn’t be a huge athletics fan but when I saw this I remember the place, the smell, the temperature… everything. I was speechless. I remember thinking “OMG, he’s going twice as fast as the rest. This is unbelievable”
Long love the king. Usain
I wonder when the next bolt will come along. Truly one of a kind, during the most competitive era of sprinting we've ever seen. Bolt wasn’t just beating his opponents, he was obliterating them. The only thing on people’s mind when watching him was by just how much he’d win a race by.
He is not running.. He is FLYING!
armadilloman8675 No, He is sprinting also nice sarcasm
u serious, he is just jogging
I actually love this guy sm. He’s just so cool and controlled, hard working and strong. God bless him.❤️
3 million of these views are just from me alone. I watch this every day, all day. Each time its like the first :)
Plot twist: he wasn’t even running at full power
Everything Bolt touches turns to Gold. He is truly Blessed, focused, determined and works hard for what he wants.
Lol..you just see bolt jogging on the track after the relay lol
traven64 and he fished before one of the teams
That moment he realises he got the 200m world record!
Coaches wanting to teach their kids perfect sprinting technique should just give them a DVD of all Asafa Powell's races. Fluid, flawless magnificent form. Crazy!
That's for me is the greatest superhuman moment I have witnessed in my life. Thank you bolt ❤️
People still talk about how he could have finished in the high 9.5s if he hadn't started celebrating with 15-20m still to go...all true, but that's what makes him special. That's what adds to his legend, man! I can't even think of anyone, ever, doing that and still breaking the world record...what a sprinter, what a legend! These races will never be the same again!
Bolt .Once in a life time athlete!
Great job, I enjoy watching these races over and over again.
That's the only time *Asafa Powell* dosen't pulls up, (when he's in front) Lol!
Nostalgia watching this as a teenager 🥲
Miss you Bolt but love you even more.
Run Asafa run! The result was the fastest anchor leg in history! Wish he had the same encouragement for the individual races!
Still the craziest athletic feat I ever watched live
Clean as a whistle winner not tainted .Born the country of the legendary Rasta Marley and Peter Tosh land of the free spirited people .
Bolt they want you to fail but you stand your ground as solid as rock you will be the one and only 100 dash olympic winner till someone break your record purely.
Its August 16th 2018 and 10 years ago today I still remember sitting around the tv with family, all eyes on the TV for the 100M final. I was in complete SHOCK when you broke the world record in the fashion that you did while my mom and aunt were mad that you stopped running 😂....Witnessing LEGENDARY moments like this are rare and I'm glad I was apart for the ride.
Bolt, the entire Jamaican Team was phenomenal thru out..
he is just so handsome. love his beautiful smile.
he must be the eighth wonder of the world.,
Nope, Andre the Giant is I believe
Yeah, but Bolts talent is enough to unoficcially call him that.
that dance in the beginning was epic!
Who's still watching this in 2022 and realised that Bolt ran 200m in that relay and even finish in front of some of the anchor leg runners.
I've watched this race and his 2009 awesome 9.58 masterclass countless times, and I've come to the conclusion that, at least over 100m, Bolt could have equalled - if not bettered his 2009 time here. He is in the zone and running so effortlessly. In Berlin, when he ran 9.58, he was NOT totally maxed out, so he probably could have bettered that time then. However, when I watch the Beijing race, Bolt actually puts the brakes on! If he had put the hammer down completely in that race, I believe he could have run 9.49. Anyone agree?
i see the same i see him slowing at the end and celebrating, i'd assume he must know what he's doing maybe at that point he knows it doesn't matter? no idea
agree
@@CodCats I dont think he was up to 19,19 in Beijing though. He needed that extra year to gain a bitz more physical strength. That said, I cant see anyone,, with the pos exception of Knighton, getting too close to his 2éé mark. Its way out there.
nope, he wouldve run a 9.61 in this race had he not slowed down... he hits his peak speed between 60 and 80 meters, running 0.81 splits at his best... here he was already 0.03 seconds behind his 9.58 world record at 80 meters, so you think he wouldve run back to back 0.73 second splits? thats just ridiculous, do you know how fast that would be lol? over 30.64 miles per hour... his actual fastest speed ever was "only" around 27.9 mph, and he achieved that during his 60-80 meter phase
@@Someone-hi1nt You sound you know stuff:)
the most exciting 100/200m in olympic history
Bolt was just different I feel bad for kids who did not get to grow up with the Bolt and Phelps era
I remember watching this when i was 14. The celebration is what takes this from phenomenal to legendary
I cannot stop watching this video Usain is my role model!
I was from Jamaica during these Olympics lmao. I was rooting heavy for Bolt
most talented sprinter i've ever seen or probably will ever see. Completely dominant in his career, and I've never seen someone win the 100m final so effortlessly. Funny enough his technique isnt even that great but he still manages to win. Thats athleticism.
This relay will forever be iconic 😂 Bolt was like 'Run asafa run' and about 60 meters in bolt knew he had done the business legendary 😂
He even slow down at the end, wtf?
that's because he finished
I think the point made is that he slowed down way too early. If he pushed for the finish line, he could have had a world record unbeatable for decades.
Cuz he already passed the baton
Its Fear stfu
Bolt still crossed the finish line 1 sec after the last guy
Fantastic footage, have´t seen any video as good as this
Just one of the biggest guys in history of sports!!
MUCH respect!!!!
Jamaica Land We Love 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Rio men's 100m finals are in a couple hours what am I doing here
you were anticipating history
Amazing. Watching him in 2004 to this 2008, WOW!
historic, greetings from spain.
You are the best Bolt.
Greatest of all time.
Richard Thompson had an amazing start. He’s really a good athlete but since he wasn’t from the states or winning the race no one cared
How proud to be him!!
I think he pulled up early on the 100m to celebrate just so that we'd wonder how much better he could do. Definitely some showmanship there.
1:29 😲😲WR 😎😂
That could have easily been 9.5!!
11 years later I still marvel at these races
Bolt is evolved human, made for sprinting.
i like him so much...
Amazing
asafa powells form in the relay is the best iver ever seen he flew
i will never stop watching
They were almost flying 0.0
He won showboating. We aren't going to see this race again.
The early celebration is iconic. Would the time have been faster had he not celebrated? Maybe. But that way he won this race is absolutely iconic
either way, it wouldnt have been as fast as his current berlin world record
ive just looked at the 2 best 100m runs from usain in the 100m, in the Beijing race at 7.9 seconds he begins to break his form and celebrate he finishes the race with exactly 7 strides, on his world record run, with exactly 7.9 seconds he completes the race with only 6 strides. i think its fair to say if in beijing he continued to power through the final 15-30 metres, he wouldve achieved low 9.5 or even high 9.4... incredible.
Again Beijing was the best olympics of all time
Virginsuicde That's what I'm saying tho.I hope Tokyo can be just as good.
@Ferdous Alam Nope retired
@@swootybooty498 or similar to Beijing 2008
@@swootybooty498 If Tokyo goes ahead at all..
0:15 Bolt doesn't even look at his left
he knew Powell to his right was the only one who could take him on
Wonderful, wonderful no words to tell , my son loved you,he was a fan of you
I swear I will never watch Olympics again without you my star
100m, 200m & the 400m (4x100) for the Jamaican men team!!!
The guy is INCREDIBLE!!!
A wonder of the world . How can one person run so much faster ? Talent and genetics my friends .
But Usain Bolt works hard too so... Bam! Talent, genetics, and hard work
Ganan Wimalarajan
That's just factually wrong. if one person is genetically more athletic, or otherwise has traits that help them excel at a sport they can put in less work and still be better.
+Ganan Wimalarajan I know the comments a year old, but, talent always wins out over hard work, especially in sprints, he still had to work hard, very hard, but I could work twice as hard and never beat him
Ganan Wimalarajan nope welcome to the real world
The greatest ever
2:22 😱🚀 power
Man. As soon as he got out of the blocks for the 200, the look on his face said "you ain't gonna catch me"
The last 100 meters of Asafa Powel are… BOOM BOOM BOOM!
Who’s here after Marcell Jacobs Won the 100 meters
Usain is simply amazing,,,,,,,,, what a performance.. he will go down as the greatest sprinter ever,.
0:26 I would dance like that too... If I had a damn GTR.
If you were a gtr.
3 WR in one Olympic...woow🔥
I love the way usain pointed towards asafa. that's a pure brutal dominance
I still remember the headlines in one Norwegian paper the day after that 100m:
"Dude, how fast could you really have run?"
Celebrating the last 30 meters with one shoe untied....
