Thanks for the video. I saved for two years to purchase a 2500 in the early 90s. I still use it today and love the units design, operation, sound quality and solid metal weighty remote. Although I have been using computer tech and modern sound devices I still prefer the 2500 for CD and radio. B&O made great products, especially in design but alas for me their music centre designs in the past 18 years or so have not been so good.

I recently got my hands on a 2500. Replaced a belt and still working on them to get them 100% working. I agree with your opinion. I think these old systems will beat most the modern smart speakers.and soundbars. Besides the sound I like the design and its smooth and silent operation.

    Excellent overview. Thank you.
I had grown up with B&O and my family had found most products to be worth the expense up to the end of the 1970s.
Being more or less grown up by then I tried early models of this system but soon realized that style over substance had won. In shops the seeming 'minimalism' was attractive but in practice these (including the late ones) could be tricky to set up for best sound and the proprietary non-standard DIN cabling was almost as annoying as the function buttons. So I took mine back and embarked upon acquiring high quality separates.
Occasionally revisiting what sells under the B&O name, there are some products which sound well and are made well but other things are just pretentious and probably thrown together in China.
The B&O logo on some laptops and in cars is, to me, just trading on what was a justly celebrated company in the late 20th century.

Those weren't the first active B&O speakers, the Overture is from 1994 and the Beolab Penta speakers were from 1987
The Beocenter 2300 was from 1991 though, and that's also when this design speakers hit the market.

I’ve always loved B&O. What I wish they never got rid of (Other than stereo systems like this) are the A8 headphones. They were super comfortable, great looking and sturdy. I remember watching minority report and seeing what looked like a wireless version being used and I still think that would be a great decision to remake

I found one of these at a job. I do house cleans out and it was in perfect condition! The only thing is that the aux input at the bottom doesn't seem to work. The speakers sound incredible tho

@@pretentiouscarrot4292aux input is on the back, you will need a 5pin din to 2x RCA/phono or 5pin din to Stereo Jack lead, depending on what it is you want to connect

A channel discussing audio with abysmal audio quality (insanely low volume) is peak irony

I had to turn the volume to 57 on my surround system. Same volume as I use on films. Films are mixed to - 23 dbFS, UA-cam recommends- 14 dbFS. There's no right or wrong choice.

I have this system totally full remote control, antenna etc. Everything work great. It was a gift from a rich neighbor he did not even turned on in years, it was like a furniture form him. What do you think I would ask $ for it? I am in the states.
