Yes it’s a bit confusing. From what I understand the white/grey top Makita was the first series when they bought Dolmar. All the newer style Makita models have black tops and different style felling spikes. There’s more to it, but that’s a couple significant indicators as to age.
One of the smoothest saws I have ever ran are those makitas . Heavy but smooth and fast . Only problem they seem to ever have is the oilers
That BB in this video is the one I was telling you about btw
Yeah, issue with the compound on the oil hoses for a few years cracking and hardening. Makita came out with an improved version.
Great video Doug those are great saws I love it
Thanks Nate, I’m looking forward to tearing into it.
@@IndianaDoug me too I can’t wait to see it
Looking forward to this!
👍awesome. Feels great to do one yourself and get runner.
We shall see, could be an epic failure😁
Watching this build
Any updates on the Makita build Doug??
Ha ha, I was just telling someone last night that I finally have everything I need to build it. Soon! Gonna be a ripper
Also this will be very interesting to see how well the unlimited coil works on it
Yep, interesting is a good word for me doing this😆 train wreck is another, but we shall see.
The unlimited coil let's my 7900 hit 14.4 so I say it works good
😎
Wonder if a husqvarna 372 52mm piston would work??
Yes a 272 piston can be modified to work
Ive heard nwp are great but never had any dealing wit anything of theres.
Thanks buddy👍🏻
I've always wondered what the difference is between the white top makitas and black top makitas, aside from the color of course :P

So is that the same case for the all red Dolmars? Being the earliest?
Yes 100%
Y are some red an some blue/green?
THAT is a great question. All the PS series Dolmars were red of course, but Makita made them in both the blue and red. No idea.
@@IndianaDoug 🤔🤔🤔🤔
