Great video! The tube is my favorite bottom contact bait with a helgie coming in at a close second. Definitely need to try your spiral hook out. If theyre anything like your ned hook theyll be 🔥
Thanks!!! I used to like the hellgrammite , but I don't even think I've used it this year so far. To me my ned and this spiral hook are very different, but I have been loving this spiral hook! Thanks for watchin!!!
Yes, I haven't talked to him yet, but ai think he's nuts... most of the time ai come here he is swimming uo n down river... I can't even understand how he can possibly swim that good... he will literally swim right up to the fast water n then swim back down without stopping. Dood is a machine! Thanks for watchin!!!
Man, you seem to catch fish no matter what you use. I think you could catch smallies on a keychain 🤣. Now you got me wanting to try fishing tubes. My father's tacklebox has dozens of them
🤣🤣🤣 I honestly think it comes down to me figuring some stuff out that puts me where the smallies like to be in certain conditions. I'm at the point where I am starting to wonder what kind of baits wouldnt catch fish. The fishing is going to get tough soon enough but maybe next year, I could try some crazier baits to see what happens, I'll add Keychain to the list🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watchin chris!
I love tubes in fact that is one of the first lures my husband and I have tried and we caught tons of fattys on them on the kayak. We rigged them about the same way. I haven’t used one yet this year but I need to now! Great video guys 🙌
Nice!!!! It's going to be hard to put down the tube now that I have this spiral hook. I've used tube hooks before and I always just end up breaking off over and over, I think mainly because the tube hooks make the tube fall straight into a snag. Either way tubes are definitely fishin catchin machines! Thanks for watchin!!!
So far this was her most successful trip with her needing the least amount of help so far. She did get snagged more than me, but she had way less snags than when I give her basically any other finesse bait.
What a fun trip. Tiff was doing very well. Do you throw different size and weight spiral hooks when you are in your kayak compared to when you are fishing on the bank? Thanks for the video Ish.
I have been using 3/16oz pretty much all the time. I usually break out a 1/4 when I'm fishing deeper water out of the kayak. I rarely grab 1/8oz but that would be gold in creeks in shallow areas. The 1/8oz has way more action than the 3/16 and 1/4 which to me sometimes isn't good, so it's rare I grab 1/8oz. The weighs with these spiral hooks do different stuff the heavier you go the farther it will shoot along the bottom when you snap it up! Still learning what ai can do with this hook but so far it has been surprising me! Thanks for watchin Paul!!!
I have tried it before it's been a while, but from what I remember, I got snagged in rocks just as bad as rigging it with a tube hook regularly. To me it's about where the weight is at in the bait, these spiral hooks help keep the bait horizontal, it's something that honestly can't be explained in text or shown on video, but it helps keep it from being snagged I rocks in my opinion. It's also not about the fall, even though it does spiral and glide, it's about not getting snagged and having the ability to make the bait shoot along the bottom of the river.
@@fishinwithish How about free rig. I think you would also like it. you need to stupid rig with weight back in head and get hook size just right. we always left some " nose" on our tubes back in the day. everything on the bottom is a craw everything up is a baitfish to a bass. we don't see through their eyes but they eat it. :)
I am going to try a few things closer to winter when the bite dies off. To be honest, I have tried a couple of things, and I really hate the smell of the hot plastic. I am going to try to get a more powerful fan for in the garage and give it another go. Tubes are looking to be the next possibility when I do try again. The first thing I wanted to make were my goto paddletails (that are no longer being made), but the investment needed to do laminate colors and produce enough baits per hour to sell is ridiculous. Thanks for watchin!!!
I was using a piscifun serpent 7.2" medium light fast action. I have been enjoying this rod cause it's so bendy and honestly I haven't been losing many fish either. To be honest tho, I don't think they make them anymore. Thanks for watchin!
"Less snaggy"...you're on to something there. I didn't really think of it 'till you mentioned it, but I think moving the line tie back a 1/2" or so kinda makes it like a Neko, and might leverage it out and turn the barb down. I just know that when pitching tree branches I'm losing every Ned, (I suck at bow stringing)but with a Neko I can feel pulling over branches and do much better. I'll have to try the spiral tube, I'll bet it lands somewhere in the middle?
Oh, okay, it took me a second, but I know exactly what you are saying! That is something I didn't think about! Yes, that may ultimately be the real answer as to why this is less snaggy, on top of it sitting horizontal and the spongeyness in the nose! Honestly, I have yet to try a neko. Quite a few people have requested it, and I have gone a different direction for now, but in the future, I will definitely be trying a neko. I don't know how this Will work with branches I imagine not the greatest BUT with this hook as long as you use 8-10lb test line the hook will open up to get it out and then all you have to do is bend it back.(I know it sounds bad but sometimes it feels like magic because it definitely has a ton of holding power even after being bent back multiple times) thanks for watchin!!!
@@fishinwithish haha, I grew up bending out hooks. It wasn't till middle age I got all bougie and had to have a specialty hook for each day of the week!
@B.A.Bassangler hahah man, when I found out about these hooks bending out and back and still staying sharp and strong It felt revolutionary😂😂😂 it's funny tho cause they have probably been around longer than I have been alive😂😂😂
Nice to see Tiff getting in on them! Great vid
Yeah, she had fun! Thanks for watchin!!!

Awesome trip for both of you.. Did your wife feel like it’s an easy rig to use? Did she get snagged a lot more than you? Thanks for the videos

Hey ish have you tried the stupid tube rig ? you would love it. same fall more snag resistant. You can thank me later. 😂

@yankeelipperfishing I haven't tried a free rig, I will have to look it up because ai haven't even heard of it hahah thanks
When are you going to make the soft plastic lures to go with the jigs 😊
