UPDATE ON THE VIDEO: With the "Enthusiast" license, a VIN slot is only taken up when a ‘Service Function’ is carried out. The user can run as many AutoScans, read/clear as many DTC’s and check real-time values on as many VIN’s as they wish! It’s only Service Functions such as component activation, service reset, calibrations, configurations, coding etc which use a unique VIN slot.
Well done. Im still looking forward to my first off road adventure on my 1200. The guy I bought the bike from had the gs-911 but wouldnt let it go. lol
A generic OBD reader will only give you OBD-II mandated info and fault-codes (typically emissions related), so any other BMW-specific info will not be known
@@FrancoisBarnard0 There are BMW specific ODB apps out there that allow similar functionality, at least for 2013 (> wethead) bikes. Don't know about the aircooled ones. GS-911 is using the same interface.
Nice riding. I also have the same bike as yours. Also have a gs911 wi fi modle. But the utherday day i tried to enter the option to bleed my brakes and it did not want to vo in there. The otherstuff u are talking about in this video its ok. But not the feature to test servo moter. I also did the firmware update. Can u advice please.
I wouldn't own a BMW without the tool! Yes, I have the adapter. The 2006 bike port is round (female I think LOL) and the diagnostic tool is rectangular (male).
Sorry for the very late reply! I bought mine in South Africa (where they come from) here: hexdiagnostics.co.za/product-category/gs-911/ They are now R7245 Totally worth it!
I just like trying different bikes and I've always wanted to own one. I do prefer simpler bikes though. The bike I miss most is my Gen1 KLR (and my XT500).

Really love footage of the good old BMW R1200 GS Adventure k25
Thanks man, me too. They are just awesome. I plan on shooting some footage of just the riding the bike, no talking...
@@GreaseAndGravel You do that 💪. These bikes are awesome 🏍️💨💨💨

Congrats on the bike! That's a shame. I'd probably do the same when I sell the bike one day LOL Happy riding!
I just use an ODB reader and app
Yes, that would do the same thing. We don't get them as readily here in SA though. Or they send you the wrong reader.

Thanks Andre. Unfortunately I am no expert. Maybe contact the team at Hex?
motoscan cost much less and is very good
When I looked you neededan Android tablet or phone. Is that still the case?
@@GreaseAndGravel Indeed, but it's working unlimited once you buy the cheap license. I had an old GS-911 and didn't work anymore on my LC
Are you using 10 pin adapter? (If so, male or female) I am considering buying a used R1200GS 2009 model and thinking about this diagnostics tool.

Daai ding kos 'n plaas se prys
Dit is nie goedkoop nie, maar ek dink hy sal vir homself betaal. Veral as jy meer as een BMW gaan gesit in jou leeftyd.
