Yes I agree,should not apply any grease inside ramps of variator where rollers slides(seated).and also not apply any lube or grease to rollers.
Simple Reason:
Think ,if you apply grease or lube even little bit in variator and rollers.the entire grease
Centrifuges (Displaced or throwned away) towards the edge of variator plate.Due to its tremendous RPM.Entire grease settles on rim(Edge wall)of variator plate.
Let us understand it with bellow example
Imagin the RPM of a washing machine drier. Entire water particles can be throwned away from clothes towards walls of drier's drum thus no more water retained in clothes at that RPM.
In the same way the grease also throwned away towards edge of variator at that high RPM.
With in few minutes applied grease
Throwed away at that RPM.
Running rpm is more than idle rpm of engine of vehicle.
So no more grease left in variator.
Verdict:
Due to lubing rollers and in side variator.
1.you get zero performance
2. initial pick up can be decreased.
3.Finally rollers can sacrify ( loose) their frictional force on ramp to slide under rotation of variator. Thus consequently it needed more acceleration to slide rollers against slippery lubed plate.so picup decreased under loads.
4.Hence above stated reasons milege can get effected.
5.Due to slippery rollers under initial
pic up un even acceleration occurs
Which the problem famous under heading of so called handle vibrations problem which many people thinks as.
6.and grease attracts unnecessary dust and dirt deposits inside variator.
7.It should always put clean all times
In rollers room.

Seen some videos where activa variatior rollers are lubed slight to reduce the noise of the rollers otherwise would run fully dry. I’m not sure which is more effective. Please let me know your thoughts

dust ki wajah se ye problem ati hai
2. Els clutch lyning aur rollers check karwai hard hogai ya ghis gai to ye problem Aati hai

I opened my access new model, under one year old. Found the rollers had a very thin film of grease like lubricant on it. The film is like a thin coat of paint. So you can lube the rollers very lightly, if your scooter is old it dries up, but the assembly factory certainly lubes it lightly.
@orange i opened mine almost year old variator and clutch for maintenance. It was opened for the first time since leaving factory.
@orange were only the clutch shoes changed or any other work done to it too? Also did you observe the lubrication done during assembly
@orange looks like the clutch wasnt assembled properly, get it checked asap, grinding noises will kill ur scooter if unchecked

Don't apply grease bro.... Grease se roller chipk jate hai aur roller ghumte nahi hai.... U will hv pickup problem if u apply grease.... I hv faced the same problem.....
Use only 'Graphite Lubricant' vo bhi boht hi thoda sa lagana hai. Graphite Lubricant se rollers chipkte nahi hai, Dust nahi pakdte kyu ke ye lubricant bahut jaldi dry ho jata hai, grease ki trah chipchip nahi krta aur Rollers Heat nahi hote kyu ki Graphite Heat Resistant hota hai. Foreign countries mein Scooter Variators Rollers mein Graphite Lube hi use krte hai.

you should remove the excess grease after applying it to front variator and the bus driver otherwise it will smear to belt and cause to jerk, just a thin layer of grease is enough, you should be careful about that

Are you sure we don't grease? I paid local mechanic 350/- to get rollers greased to solve vibration issue.

@@pradeepkumar-sx1tynot at all. Later I did service of all parts of scooter Honda Cliq 110 myself but couldn't find why it vibrated at 40kmph speed. Something with engine or chassis shockers. Check channel of Self Repair GURUji where he explains well and suggests putting only some WD40 for minor lubing the rollers without catching dirt.
