Damn good rock n roll!!! How have I just now heard of these guys!!!! Great lead guitar and good harmonies !!! A definite foot tapper or a song that will get u a speeding ticket!!!!🎸🎸🎸🎸
My crazy friend Diana was fucken one of the guys in the band, I think his name was Kevin...I loved the mid to late '70s in Boston with DMZ, Willie Loco, The Rat, Paradise, Cantones...Living in a squat and working in the Combat Zone...Absolutely EVERYONE I knew from that time is DEAD, plus I picked up a bitch of a drug habit that almost killed me, but no regrets and I still remember every minute of that era fondly!
@@lastmanstanding1954 Do you remember Kenny from Kentucky? She was living in the loft with us on Washington St near the Combat Zone, dealing coke. She would come home from Cantones with about 15 people, pass out cold, my boyfriend would sneak into her bedroom and clip a few quarters, crawl back down the hall and we'd shoot coke for days. I loved when Kenny came busting out of her room naked and jump on my back whenever Martha and the Vandellas song came on.

My mom had a friend named Loretta who she always talked with on the phone (Quite a concept, eh' kids?) I had to tell her about that song. They got a chuckle out of it.
I used to see this band mentioned in a music newspaper called "Boston Rock". I lived near Atlanta at the time (1982) and would take to the highway to see bands like Human Sexual Response at the 688 Club. I never actually HEARD this band until I heard this clip on UA-cam. These guys rocked HARD!!!

I loved seeing the Nervous Eaters at the Channel, the Rat. Boston's 80's music scene was popping off. Always a great time. My adults kids would always ask me about growing up in the 80's, they thought it was so cool lol it kinda was though!
I remember searching on Spotify and heard that version and thinking damn. Punk has evolved. The original wasn’t even on Spotify. Still isn’t . I’m glad other people can enjoy such a cool song
i lived across the street from the rat and i went there every night. alpo , the bass guitarest for "the nervous eaters" was my roommate and he later died of a heroin overdose. the kicker is that he was a drug councelor when he overdosed.
@@lastmanstanding1954man that’s sad. I heard of this band back in 2007 well after the fact a punk friend had this on her playlist. Years later I feel like crying whenever I hear this band. Tears of joy.
I played this song on WDRC-FM in Hartford when it was new! This must be a different version; it seems to be harsh and trebly - I remember the bottom as being "bigger."
first punk band i saw - opened for the Ramones at Brown University, a matinee/daytime show. they were rocking. maybe 30 people there. This song sounds like the Velvet Underground's White Light Heat.
@bobyoung53 Actually WBCN isn't dead. They now have two HD stations in Boston. WBCN The Rock of Boston on 98.5 HD2, and WBCN Free Form Rock on 100.7 WZLX HD3. Definately spread the word on it, especially when it comes to the latter of the two!
at the rat: #1. nervous eaters, then in random order: 3rd Rail. luna. human sexual response. neighborhoods. the Vinnie Band ! willie alexander boom boom. then all the lesser punks from elsewhere like talking heads. jam. police. dead boys. maybe the dead boys weren't lesser. but the cars were (snore) even tho they weren't entirely elsewhere. ramones weren't lesser to any band, but didn't play the rat, don't think. they played Cambridge like the made up royalty they were. but, the nervous eaters were our best band. the late jerry W boston's best drummer. steve cataldo our rock god poet. and andy paley as the blonde.
i remember when allen Polino "alpo" bass guitarist from the real kids joined nervous eaters. i was his roomate at the time and when he went on tour i ended up taking care of his cat and rabbit. alpo died a few years ago. long live alpo...!!!
@bobyoung53 I do listen to it in HD (which is better than online because online has commercials), and the antennas do have to be in the perfect spot and position in order for it to work right. Sometimes the HD signal gives out due to technical difficulties on the part of the station, but what can you do.
Thanks for putting that out! Just discovered this song and was like ' hmm, this sounds a lot like something i listen to on a regular basis, but i can't pin-point what it is. ' thank you!

Saw them a number of times in the late 70's and I still have the album!!
One of the songs that definitely need to be nominated as the best song to represent early Boston punk rock'n'roll.
Heard this on XM radio the other day. Had to look it up on UA-cam. Great song to crank up while driving.
And cranking it up
Is just what it deserves!!!!🎸🎸🎸
Boston was rich with pre punk bands, and this band is the proof of greatness.
Yup Le peste is my all time favorite although they were much later the neighborhoods and mission of Burma fuck the modern lovers list goes on and on

Glad to be named after this song💕
Just discovered this by chance, and it's bloody great!
I was born shortly after this song came out. I consider myself lucky to have seen them at The Rosebud in Somerville about a year ago.
My favorite Boston band evah!!!! I have the 45s!
This is a great version. More New York Dolls inspired.
The eventual album version morphed in to more new wave sounding.
Both are wicked awesome!
My mom had a friend named Loretta who she always talked with on the phone (Quite a concept, eh' kids?) I had to tell her about that song. They got a chuckle out of it.
Nice to have my name in a song!!😀
I remember WAY back when this was on the radio. Good times.
I used to book these guys at Jacks in Cambridge on Mass Ave and they packed the house!
This is really a great sounding song with a catchy background.

Yeah, used to see them in a small, dark, Boston club called the Channel. What a place. Good times.
Rich Gilbert is a great player ..him and his wife play up in Maine...the HSR people who were in the Zulus just played a reunion show at the paradise.
Just played with these guys! So much fun!
Yo! we have a show with them in 3 weeks, looking forward to it!!! And for the record, its always great to play with you guys too!
The Fools did a great cover of this song. Look for it on UA-cam.

Sounds like oz garage punk - radio birdman, etc
They stole our guitar tuner from backstage in 77 ! Nice guys!
Neko Case covered this on her live album, The Tigers Have Spoken. Surprised but not surprised she knows the Nervous Eaters.
I wasn't surprised too much either. Lazy Cowgirls cover version is great too.

Earlier, slowed-down version of the song heard on their debut LP. Surprisingly, its equally kick-ass.
