I don’t know why the algorithm rarely shows your videos for me and then have to look for them. I really enjoy your content and find colour mixing and things so interesting.
Daniel Smith Green Gold is a multipigment version of green gold. Daniel Smith Rich Green Gold is the typical one pigment mix that the other watercolor brands use for green gold.
I do own most of the colors mentioned and even a green gold by Qor, which is Golden’s brand of professional watercolors made in the US. It’s so much fun to use!
Hi Michele! I love your videos. They have been invaluable in my increasing happiness painting with watercolor. When I saw this video, I was so happy that I personally had discovered all except your special petal shadow and already added them to my palette! Made me feel pretty good that I felt the same limitations till I discovered these other colors. I have ordered your special shadows palette and hope they arrive in Colorado, USA soon! Thanks for everything!
Quin rose and helios purple (quin magenta ish) are so perfect for mixing purples with ultramarine blue. It was actually life changing for me and I adore them
Quinacridone Magenta is a great color, but of course you can add blue to your quin rose. I haven't tried helios purple! So many colors so little time (money) :-)
Thanks so much Michele. I have not heard of Nickel Titanate, and found that Daniel Smith make one too so I’ll get that ( in Australia).Im finding your tutorials very helpful.❤
Even though I am still rubbish at painting flowers, I watch nearly all of your videos until the end and always learn something!. Due to your excellent information, teaching style and photography, I have never "abandoned" a video due to waning interest. They are rather like a good movie - one cannot wait for the next "scene". And I thought I was the only one who liked Davy's Gray, as it is much warmer and less harsh than other grays. Excellent for mammals. Denise Soden taught me that one can mix Cerulean Blue and Indian Red to make a nice soft gray. Since Indian Red has the consistency of housepaint, I am trying to use mine up and this is a great way. This also justified my previous purchase of Green Gold.
Yes, I have all if them, but not necessarily the same brands. Thanks for showing them in mixes. I am just learning botanical painting, so they will go in my floral palette.
Grumbacher Thalo Yellow Green is my go-to for sun through the leaves. Mixes beautifully. My go-to light blue is Manganese Blue. All the others I use except for the Titanium Nickel Yellow, which is now in my Blick shopping cart, thank you!
I do have W&N Davy's Gray and W&N Green Gold, both as professional grade; a blue or two mentioned but of W&N professional or student grade, but not really blues on top of the discussion. Otherwise, well, I need to view the video again. Thank you so much.
Thx for this video. ❤ Amazing as always. 😊 I would love to see a version of this but for portraits! Specially considering the lightest of the skins, to the darkerst!!! Cause I know how to make a basic flesh tone, but getting it to be dark skin tone... I cant!! 😢
That's a great idea. I also have a video to mix all skin tones from primaries. Pop my name in the UA-cam search bar with skin tones and it should come up (I'm not allowed to put links here) x
I'll be ordering the Davy's grey for sure. I'll have to see if the petal shadow is available here stateside, or if I'll have to order and wait. :). Thanks as always!
Quinacridone Gold is a great pigment. Unfortunately it's been reformulated in many brands with tubes of original DS quin gold reaching hundreds of dollars re sale price. This is because the automobile industry controls which pigments are produced, and when certain colours become less popular they then aren't available to artists either.
I have been using Pthalo Blue more and more recently but not as a base for a green. Do you mix the blue into the yellow or the other way around ? I m off to have a play. Thank you
I always have problems with the greens on leaves, my goto colour is Indigo with various yellows but I will do some tests with the Phthalo blue. I use Van Gogh colours exclusively now and I like the Perm deep red which is perfect for pinks for me. I was taught never to use manufactured grey but to make a neutral grey tone from the colours in the palette. Its easy once you get the hang of the variations.
This was very instructive. I have a green gold in a set but it is a single pigment azo yellow. The Daniel Smith green gold looks like it could be more useful and it is a much richer color. Petal Shadow Violet also looks interesting but I'm wondering what shipping is to the United States . Daniel Smith has a color they call Shadow violet but does not look as useful as yours
Morning Michele...I too love Prussian blue for mixing a dark green but also a neutral tint, which in some brands r quite blue, is also a good dark mixing green. love Alli XXX P.S I am compiling a u tube folder for my adopted niece to help her get started in watercolours. My problem is I am not able to 'save' your video to her folder. I could share it but I wanted to keep my chosen video's in one place to make it easier for my niece to refer back to. would u be able to make this video so as I could save it please? XX
Hi Alli! I have absolutely no idea how to do that, I haven't done anything different on this one. Do you download them? Sometimes you just need to try a different browser or device. You can also make your own 'playlist' on UA-cam where you can place other people's videos.
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber Morning Michele. Yes the 'save' tab is along the bottom where we 'like' the video and can 'share' video. I could use the share tab but I find it much better for Jade to 'save' in a folder that I make and then it keeps all my chosen videos in one place. Then I can send her the 'saved' file I made for her when I have a beginner's collection for her. Some of your video's have the 'saved' tab but I have noticed, more recently, that u tubers I follow havent got it on and I cant even put into the 'saved' tab for 'watch later' xxx
@@AlliListArt it's more likely some kind of UA-cam thing, or the browser/device you are using. Apple users seem to get a lot of issues. I'm still able to save any video to watch later. Sadly, as I seem to have accumulated over 400 again 🤣
I use for that quin violet reddish and madder lake. And a lot of water. But as I don't paint flowers I don't need very punchy pinks. So I can get away with a watered down madder lake most of the time. I'm struggling with bright purples a lot, it's crazy how all beginner sets (12er) have a white which is almost never needed but no purple which is impossible to mix with the reds and blues that are included.

the best green in the vid is your nail! Great color!!!
Oh thank you!
I really love Opera Pink to use in some flowers.
If I'm sketching people, I always have any women I'm sketching wearing opera!

Useful tips in your tutorial as usual. I have undersea green in my palette, which I find very useful. It granulates and leaves a blue hue.
Sounds wonderful!
I love green gold. lol Thx for this helpful video Michele. Glad you’re feeling better. 🥰💕🐶💕🥰
Thank you!!
I love these colors I have the green gold but love that petal shadow and Daveys gray. I think those need to be added soon!
I always want ALL the colours!

Indian Red (usually an oxide) is great for house bricks of course, and yes, makes interesting greys!
Thank you, most informative. You are a gifted instructor
I appreciate that!
Thank you, Michele. I have been stumped to add shadows to some white magnolias.
Glad it was helpful!

What about Daniel Smith Quinacridone Gold? It seems to be used by many artists. Have you tried it and how would it compare to green/gold?
Quinacridone Gold is a great pigment. Unfortunately it's been reformulated in many brands with tubes of original DS quin gold reaching hundreds of dollars re sale price. It is! Indigo is great for darks but it's very muted.
If I want a green I usually just guess until I get something I can use :)
Much appreciated!

Cat approved! Yay!
I need to find out the names the nikel titanate is found under
It's often just sold as Nickel Titanate, or Titanium Yellow. The pigment number is PY53, most manufacturers will list this on their website.
Pink is the hardest colour to mix.
I use for that quin violet reddish and madder lake. And a lot of water. But as I don't paint flowers I don't need very punchy pinks. So I can get away with a watered down madder lake most of the time.

It's a primary that's why, at least in watercolour where you don't use white.
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber a lot of watercolour sets haven’t got white, particularly in pans.
