She was my favorite female singer, growing up..and this was my favorite song!...in 1983 when she died, i was visiting my cousin in California. He lived about a 15 minute drive from where the funeral was in Downey...So ironic and sad. I literally cried when she died and decided to take a city bus to the funeral...A lot of fans and celebrities were there...The ceremony was very touching..I will never forget it. I still have the program they handed us from that day , Febuary 8th , 1983
Even today the song styling of Karen Carpenter are vastly under-rated. Thank you. Kenn Wingle and The Music Enhancement Channel, for giving us this improved, cleaned up and augmented song that was on the soundtrack of my senior year of high shcool
It is nice to hear truly exceptional musicians, friends enveloped in wonderful remastering. RIP Karen. Wish you were still blessing us with your talent!
As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned to appreciate the music talents and voice of Karen and her brother’s arrangements of melodies. I’ve become quite a fan actually 😌.
@@dwdavies999 my husband and I started watching things about him recently after seeing the movie. God blessed him with a beautiful voice. Too bad that he got hooked on drugs and died early. He actually started off in church as did his friend Jerry Lee Louis.
My all time favorite female singer...i was in California not far from where she lived with her parents in 1983...i was in total shock when i heard that she had died...i got on a bus and went to her funeral in Downey...I cried the day i heard about her death while i was there...i still have her funeral service pamphlet they were handing out to people who attended...What a sad day...
For all the love she gave others, she deserved more from those closest to her. Always wanted to meet her as a teen in the early 70s. Such an enchanting spirit from a midsummer night's dream.
Agree. I find it to be sadly ironic that for all of the beautiful and romantic love ballads she graced the world with, that she never found anyone to truly love her.
WOW! Thanks for all of the work you put into this!! Your "enhancements" and remixing are fantastic! I fondly remember buying this album on reel-to-reel back in 1973. I still have it somewhere. Thanks again!
KENN----FOR ALL YOU DO, & ALL YOU'VE DONE, MY HEARTFELT THANK-YOU. ----------FROM THAT LONG AGO, SUMMER OF '73, AS " AMERICAN GRAFFITI" HAD BECOME THE #1 BOX OFFICE SMASH, & THE NOSTALGIA FOR " OLD TIME ROCK & ROLL" HIT A NEW PEAK, RICHARD CARPENTER & JOHN BETTIS CREATED THE PERFECT SONG FOR THAT TIME. AS ALWAYS, THE ARRANGEMENT & PRODUCTION BY RICHARD, WAS NOTE-PERFECT, & KAREN'S SMOOTH, EASY ON THE EARS VOCAL , WITH THE 2 OF THEM OVER-DUBBING THE BACKGROUNDS, CREATED A TIMELESS MASTERPIECE. -----------MJL, 77 Y/O NOW.
Summer of '73, as the oldies craze hit my generation, especially with George Lucas' classic, " American Graffiti " , this song swept AM radio . One of my top 5 by Rich & Karen. ---------MJL
From the very 1st time I heard this song----------on KHJ, here in LA, I knew------KNEW-------this was a classic ------& an absolute masterpiece. So beautifully written, arranged & produced by Richard, at his very best---------with Karen's unsurpassed Alto / Contralto--------this is a " sing-along classic " that EVERYONE sang to, when it came on the radio. ------I drove up to Hollywood & Wallach's Music City on Sunset, just to buy the 45. -------RIP, Karen-----WolfSky9
I used to listened this version when I was young. It's been more than 40 years ago..This song was on the cassett..😊 Really more beautiful than present version...
Kenn : It was always known in the music world of the 70's that Richard was a genius at arrangement & production. it's just s shame that his personality made him nearly impossible to put up with. -----You're so right; his arrangements are so clean, & note-perfect, it's easy to miss & dismiss. ----------Thank-you once again for your work! --------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o
Preciosa..Mujer , Karen hermosa voz inigualable , única por siempre Gracias por tanto talento y oficio al cantar tus grandes canciones . Dios te Bendiga ..
Ken, Everything the Carpenters did was superb, but through your special talents you've added that extra special feature. Know that we appreciate your amazing gift, and thank you for taking the time and energy to make this beautiful rendition.
One of my many favorite tunes of The Amazing Carpenters, The sound quality is rich and full over 500 watt dolby digital surround sound THX speakers thanx!
An Angel among us for far too brief a time. ----------Summer of '72, I was 25 y/o, heading to 26, & beginning to recover from a tragic love affair. ------------------This song helped----------Karen's perfect voice always helped. ------------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
Kenn : No doubt-----Richard was a brilliant writer, arranger & producer, & Karen's voice is Angelic, & perhaps nowhere better illustrated than this masterpiece. -------Karen's Alto----Contralto, is today, unequaled, & may never be. -----------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
Does anyone know what instrument is played at 0:27? Is it a music box or trinket? Also is it in the original recording? I cant seem to find the CD version of this.
The show/entertainment business is very destructive mentally and physically. They say Karen always thought she was to big physically; she just wouldn't eat her brother said years later. The pressure is so huge. Recordings, appearances, contract obligations etc, etc, etc. I don't know how ANY can handle it. Many can"t sadly. Great singer, not the greatest, but great.
When John Lennon saw Karen Carpenter in a restaurant in Los Angeles he said, “I just want to tell you, love, that I think you’ve got a fabulous voice”
True ❤ miss her
Seems like yesterday this song it stays in my head unreal ❤️
An angelic voice gone but never forgotten..
Amen!
Miss that beautiful voice unreal ❤
They owned the radio stations in the early seventies , with hit after hit after hit it was amazing and they were spectacular !
It's hard to hold the tears when i listen this song...
Karen, we miss you.
There will never be a pure voice like this. Memories.

The Now and Then album is a classic!
What a pleasant voice!
Such a beautiful voice silenced by such a terrible disease that prevents one from seeing one's own beauty.
This is superb Kenn. I agree 100% with what you wrote about the Carpenters. Cheers. David.
Awesome job! Thanks for your hard work!
The genius of Richard and Karen Carpenter superbly enhanced by yourself Kenn!

And remember, it's only just begun.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I LOVE YOU KAREM 💕
THX
❤❤❤
Just think: The songs that Karen were referring to were only about 10 or 15 years old at the time of making this record.
I think there was a '50s doo wop revival in the early '70s, so this makes sense!
KAREN SEMPRE EM NOSSOS CORAÇÕES 😢
Damn, who is cutting all of those onions.
Had she lived, in 2020 Karen would have been 70 years old. Unreal.
Ken, Could you do Maybe it's you, please.
