Kayako and Toshio have no chill lol. I like that the Grudge movies make it more like the ghosts aren't in control, it's a curse, they don't want revenge or to be put to rest, it's like the murder made this force that traps more and more victims and Kayako and all the others are just like weapons forced to kill anyone that cones into contact. It's a cool twist to the ghost genre IMO.
that’s what was implied in the original but the remake doesn’t do a good job getting that point across. they changed her to be more vengeful and sadistic similarly to how they changed sadako in the ring remake.
It’s so refreshing to watch someone react to this who’s paying attention and following what’s going on! This was fun. :) I hope you react to the one it’s a remake of, Ju-On: The Grudge. In my opinion it’s MUCH scarier.
This is a really good remake. It's almost shot by shot, but it streamlined the movie a little where needed, and as you have noted Christopher Young's score adds a lot to the atmosphere. The R rated cut is a bit better because it contains one small bit that was somewhat important - what Karen saw in that room. The American sequel is terrible, but the Japanese sequel Ju-On 2 is pretty damn good as well.
The sequel is not that bad the third one and the new one from 2020 are the worst in the franchise but no one denies that the first one is the best and that Takako Fuji will always be Kayako Saeki no one will be as amazing as she was as the vengeful ghost from The Grudge movies both japanese original and american remakes.
I wish the sound mixing was more like the originals, and not so jumpscare heavy. I appreciate that it still has the atmosphere to build up to the jumpscares, but nearly every single scene that's horror pays off with a jumpscare. Probably the influence of US producers, not Takashi Shimizu's real choice.
@@JJCommentary its got Amber Tamblyn, Arielle kebbel (Aquamarine) its got some good actors. the story is pretty much the same as the first but this time Amber Tamblyn comes to Tokyo to search for her older sister Karen (Sarah Michelle Gellar) only for her to encounter the same curse as karen did in the first film. and oh karen is still cursed lol
Toshio (The little boy) is almost a warning for the people who have already been cursed. That's why he shows up before Kayako. He's an omen of sorts.
Tbh I thought that too, but if he was only a warning then why would he too kill?
I absouluely love the 2004 remake of The Grudge. It's truly atmospheric and creepy..and the forever great Sarah Michelle Gellar is fantastic as Karen.
Yeah Sarah's acting is amazing and the whole movie will give you sleepless nights
She’s the queen
the Unrated Cut of the movie is much more brutal
I liked this movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar was great.

@@alexandervelez9507speaking of Sadako don't the books wind up turning into a crime thriller sort of deal
@@alexandervelez9507good point. I love Samara personally but I still wish they kept her background like Sadako….

well there is a good news sort of Sarah Michelle gellar didn't die in this one cause she does have a minor appearance in the grudge 2 lol
Love to hear it 😍
