    The assistant who at the end, she became a good witch, and I think an extremely powerful one. She may help out Luke and his grandma from time to time in America. In my head canon she becomes the Queen of the Good Witches (think Samantha of Bewitched when she became one time Queen Witch). And they are extremely powerful much more than the Grand High Witch shown here.

    I totally think Charlie's mom would react the exact same way if he was straight. He's only been 15 for about 3 or 4 months at this point and just recently went from being a top student to almost failing some classes a couple months ago. Since his mom doesn't know about his mental health issues, she assumes the drastic change in his behavior is because of his relationship with Nick. She doesn't communicate this very well with him, but neither does he communicate well with her. Hopefully their mother/son relationship is a work in progress, where they can both treat each other with more respect and grace.

    11:35 The hot guy was actually in the movie earlier on as well, but they cut it. The scene with Madeline and Ernest leaving the house in the morning was a bit longer and Madeline tells Ernest about the bookparty invite. He gets all excited and she says... "You watch your step with herrrr! If there's one thing I won't tolerate.... it's infidelity!!!!" And then it cuts to Madeline having sex with the guy at the beach house.... afterwards they both complain (Her about having to face Helen and him about some excess fat on his belly). Then Madeline sees a line on her cheek caused by one of his pillows and she goes nuts... prompting her to go to for an emergency appointment at the weird beauty salon. After Mad gets home from visiting Lisle Dakota also called her to apologize for cheating. Ernest listens in as they slowly start to flirt again (so that's where she was going right before she gets killed). 22:30 There was a whole day sequence cut after Ernest picks up the formaldehyde... (and a night scene before it with Ernest & Helen revising the plans, meeting at the Beverly Hills Hotel). Rose the maid comes in the kitchen in the morning and then finds Madeline awake... in the freezer... completely stiff with icicles on her face. The maid runs to Ernest who is asleep on the couch and she goes: sir sir... IT'S in the fridge! This whole sequence where Mad & Ern having to act like everything's fine was cut along with Helen exercising at the hotel where she receives a Death Valley map and a hilarious short scene with her shopping for the burial merch at the hardware store... (those two short scenes are in between the scenes when Madeline is being spraypainted and then her eyes being touched up). There was another woman in Ernest's life... Toni (played by the fabulous Tracey Ullman)... when testaudiences said they wanted a more UP, funny ending her entire role was cut. The funeral ending was only shot a week before the New York premiere. The original ending was set in Switzerland... 27 years later. Madeline & Helen have been travelling the world... but are bored out of their brains. They still look stunning (Lisle got someone to touch them up every now and then). Madeline ridicules an old couple who are sitting in the park below their balcony. Helen is sad though and looks at the couple with longing. Then we see the old couple up close and the old man is touching the hand of the wife, but his one hand is still young. It's Ernest... the couple drink some wine and then as the camera moves back on Mad & Hel's faces they turn into skulls for a slight second as the movie fades out.

    Bro, saying that the finale was nothing but nonsense words is missing the point. The songs lyrics are based off of the background vocal sounds used in Doo-wop music. Before you watch Grease, you should have at least a basic understanding of Rock 'n' Roll history and pop-culture of the late 1950's.

    Everyone loves to criticize and yell at Barbara, and from a 21st century perspective I get it, but at the time these “zombies” were not called “zombies.” In fact, the reason Night Of The Living Dead ended up in public domain is it was originally copyrighted as Night Of The Flesh Eaters. Barbara goes into shock and is mostly useless because the events of that night traumatized her in a way I suspect people of the time were; whereas, now I think we would all recognize these creatures as zombies. They most likely would have been referred to as “ghouls” in this film. Night Of The Living Dead (1968) and The Last Man On Earth (1964) created the modern zombie, bridging the gap between the Haitian, Voodoo zombie from Horror films prior to the 1960s and the zombies we know today-Rotting corpses shambling around eating people. Point is, George A. Romero didn’t know he was making a zombie film because he was inventing the genre. Technically, the creatures in The Last Man On Earth starring Vincent Price are supposed to be vampires. However, if you’re watching if with a modern lens they look and act a hell of a lot more like zombies than vampires. 1964’s The Last Man On Earth is the first adaptation of Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend, (which has been adapted twice since-both of those are pretty bad though-The Omega Man (1971) & I Am Legend (2007.) The ‘71 film was intentionally trying to distinguish itself as separate from the ‘64 adaptation, and the ‘07 film just totally missed the point. Anyway, in 2018 Criterion Collection releases an incredibly beautiful restoration of the film on DVD & Blu-ray, I highly recommend checking out that version, especially now that you’ve seen the original quality. The pacing is certainly slower, but it was slower with all films, (even 30 years ago the pacing was much slower.) The music is, I believe mostly the same in terms of the compositions, but quality has been improved-both sound and music. I don’t know if it was Romero’s intent to add the sound effects over the daughter-kills-her-mother scene but it does have the affect of distracting viewers for just a moment, because it is ridiculous that she is just lying there. The other moment in the film that annoys the hell out of me is when Judy runs out of the house “with no plan” to go to the truck with her boyfriend/partner (don’t remember if they really clarify their relationship,) and it’s because of her that he dies, (she seemed pretty competent up until that point.) The actors, if they even have any acting experience, were mostly theater actors. Nearly all of the zombies are just people who lived in the surrounding areas-a trend Romero would continue throughout the original three Dead films, (Night, Dawn, & Day.) The final act and the ending of the film is one of the strongest there is, so many films completely fall apart at that point. Romero swore his entire life he cast a black man as Ben because he was the best actor to audition, and although I definitely believe that I doubt the political significance was lost on Romero, and I feel like he leaned into it with those end credit still shots. Although Romero denies it, everyone of his films is pretty overtly delivering a political. Despite the popularity of this film and its overall success, Romero was never really given a budget for any of the films he would make, (same goes for John Carpenter.) By far, Night Of The Living Dead is one of the most successful independent films of all time, (shot outside Pittsburgh, Pa.,) and it provides solid evidence that if you want to make a movie the only thing stopping you is yourself.

    I think you might appreciate the subplots more on rewatchings. The movie would be so boring if there was only an A storyline. You'd be asking why there are so many characters in the movie and why they aren't more developed. Basically if they made the changes you are suggesting there would be 2 characters and they'd sing every song. 😴

    Why would it be a "worst case scenario " for a teenage High School girl in the 1950's to not get pregnant, at a time 15 years before women (or girls) had no choice but to carry the child, get an illegal abortion or use a coat hanger???? It was great news because they obviously weren't ready. Even in the 1970's, when I grew up, all of my friends that got their girlfriend pregnant got divorced or broke up shortly thereafter, and the girl was left raising the child. Not to mention the gruesome "coat hanger" abortion method, and I knew teenaged girl that did that too. Incredibly strange commentary.

    • @Ayaforshort
      @Ayaforshort 2 роки тому

      I agree. I think he doesn't get how story telling works. Characters can't start the movie already knowing everything. They start off with some flaws and need to go on a journey to grow. Riz was promiscuous and seemed really mean. We learned that she is just insecure and she learned that she needs to be careful who she hooks up with and to use protection. Even if the consequences didn't last the lesson she learned did.
