Funny thing: 'Haas' is dutch for "hare", hence the ears. Also, "mijn naam is Haas" (literally, 'My name is Hare') is a figure of speech to the effect of "I saw nothing, that's none of my business, I'm not going to respond."

I love the meaning behind this game. It's more about stress than depression. Been there... hating your job that your stuck at because you have to have a job, but you know you need to get a new one, but you're anxious because you're not sure if the new job could be better than the old one, possibly even worse making you look even worse in your work history for future applications. Upon watching the game all the way through, the ending hit me in a strange way. The game’s themes are about the work place. You conform, you fit an image, you are given tasks and goals, watching what those goals are doing to others around you. The insistence of who you are/supposed to be, misgendering and forcing a uniform on you that literally makes everyone look the same is to make you feel like a number. Everyone is miserable, tolerating a hostile environment that here is represented by the threat of the invisible bugs stalking the halls.
The gun acts as a self defense we have towards these kinds of environments, but we have no idea what is going to go wrong and when and the consequences are always going to be dire for us. Your boss is friendly at first but he’s literally a faceless entity and is hostile and degrading eventually. You’re doing as directed and you’re doing it as well as you can and you’re being told you’re failing expectations. As the story progresses we see the character is being singled out. You are given a gun as a second thought, and it’s implied to be sub par. The CEO tells you that you’re the only one who can’t fit in and get with the program.
The placing of the sticker on the leg of the baby is implied to be the main character as a baby. This can be interpreted as the main character feeling like they were cursed from such a young age to feel nothing but pain, isolation and inadequacy. The game’s scenery devolves further into nonsense and finally something hellish.
This is a game made by someone who feels all of this in a deep way. Perhaps this is their agony.
Mitchell, it’s been years. If you’re still here, I hope you have since found some peace.

Adam Junod It is not just personal stuff or exaggerated . If you watch the walkthrough again, you will see what the comment tries to explain to you. It is literally what the game presents some injustice elements when you are working. These kinds of in game events are somewhat relevant to real world - being forced to remove your identity, your own thinkings and forced to do tasks even they are horrible; such as when you deliver sandwich to the character and the character later dies, that character just like the employees in real life who is removed from that job position.
And if you still don’t believe what the game explained by the comments, look at the start of the game and the end of the game again

A couple of fun facts for the curious:
    1. There's an oversight when naming your character 'Haas/Alice'. The game's script doesn't change, meaning your character now protests 'My name isn't Haas, it's Haas!' Maybe everyone's pronouncing it wrong or something.
    2. You can actually go straight to the last area the moment you get the car keys. Just head through one of the exit doors and walk through the parking garage, and the elevator will be unlocked. The only thing keeping you there is yourself.

The meaning of this game did nto escape me for a moment, as it's very relatable. My last day at work was spent crying in a corner for 4 hours, taking a lunch break, and then crying again. But I was at the job for just 3 months. I don't know how anyone ever manages to last longer when they treat you like this. I also had constant searches for assumed theft which ensures you know that they don't trust you even a tiny bit. Being fired was something I really feared, but once it happened it was like someone turned on a light. I'd been freed... And then I went to the doctor for anti-depressants. I'm not okay, but I'm a lot better than back then. I'm glad this game was made. And I hope people realise how accurate this is.

This is something all too familiar to most anyone who has ever worked in a company. The boss is always friendly at the start, giving you a false sense of security and allowing you to feel comfortable in the beginning. However, eventually that façade is exchanged for a very different one than you were used to at the start and you are singled out. I had a boss who used to single me out and even yelled at me infront of the other workers. If it hadn't been for a few kind-hearted and sweet ladies who encouraged me to keep my chin up and allowed me to confide in them, I would have quite within the month. Eventually, said boss would focus her negativity onto the new hires and I couldn't help but see myself in each one who came and went... It was almost soul crushing. I'm glad I didn't stay with the company for too long. I still keep in touch with the people whom I was close with and liked, but it's sad how little your worth seems to be in the work place most of the time. Our boss cared very little about our needs and really only saw us as numbers and hamsters running on wheels to keep everything working...

I wouldn't know, probably not? I've heard people say the crying in the labyrinth made them sick or cry themselves, but it just annoyed me more than anything else since it's really just the Bugs mimicking actual cries, and I've been around enough little kids and their crying to just be aggravated when I hear someone crying without knowing the cause of it.
Not to say that I'm tough or anything, because it IS still disturbing, it probably just doesn't affect some people as much because not all people can relate to depression or trauma in general and/or have seen enough to just be numb to it.

This game looks like it was executed pretty darn well! One thing I noticed right off the bat was the sound-reliant combat system, which may have taken influence from the game Enemy Zero, as well as having themes similar to Silent Hill, Afraid of Monsters & Cry Of Fear, the latter two of which took heavy inspiration from the former. The artwork is also reminiscent of games like Pokemon & Sweet Home, among others. The soundtrack was really good for what it set out to do, and the gameplay seems unique for an RPG Maker game!

I left one of my jobs after having a candid conversation with one of the managers (I had long stopped giving a shit and no longer feared them like other people did after I took the risk and talked to them like a real person would) talking about how the store and the chain in general was failing and he got actually personally ANGRY about that. He was a new hire compared to the rest of the managers, most of who I know knew the state of the store and how we barely operated every day.
So like a bunch of shit in my head clicked about how the managers all acted. Like how they'd pretend everything's fine, their extremely odd behavior when another employee threatened my life, their priorities being fucking wack, weird shit like that.
Like this game kept coming back up in my head time to time. These people were dead in the head and the soul. Something with people I knew was horribly wrong and completely alien to me. So same day, I finally decided I had enough shit and left. I wasn't scared, I just couldn't take these weird ass broken people anymore. It was killing me.
The place held me hostage before because I had friends there. People I liked. But really over the years I came to see people as a venus fly trap, time vampires. Like I realized after I left that people are just so.... flighty. Like what really was a friend in that place? People had friends to survive day to day, not because they wanted it. That said I still keep in contact with a few.

This game gets to me in a way that literally no other horror game can. Monsters, murderers, and spooky houses pale in comparison to the idea of working a horrible dead-end job that you despise with every fiber of your living being. Of getting up every morning and dreading going to a place filled with miserable people, mind-numbing tasks, and no prospect of things getting better or ever feeling anything resembling joy again. Wasting your life telling yourself that you need the job, that its an obligation, that there's no guarantee there's anything better and that things will only be worse when you leave.
I worked a job that made me feel exactly like that and quitting that job was probably one of the best decisions that I've ever made in my life. This game made me relive those feelings and for that I have to commend the creator for making something so potent and impactful. Plus I really liked the hare/bunny asthetic with the workers.

Wow. My name is Mitchell, and July 2016 was the worst month of my life, to the point I had considered suicide. That's bizarre. Also I'm doing much better now, so not to worry!

Getting serious Killer 7 vibes from how the enemies are invisible and can only be killed when you change into first person. Love it.

    Games can be art
This is so terrifying and relatable; maybe it's the personable message at the end, maybe it's the more widespread understanding of mental health concerns these days, maybe it's something else entirely, but this game is definitely something special. It makes me feel less alone in the world...

So my questions after this are
What was in the sandwich that Vivienne ate?
What was the significance of the sticker on the ankle of the baby? (Clearly it was the person themselves but what beyond that?)
Is Mitchell alright? What's the status on them? 2016 was a while ago.

Wild guessing on my part, but, maybe it has to do with giving the baby a set gender identity, as in, you literally "label" it? That is if you interpret this game from the perspective of a trans person (the theory lies in the beginning when they refuse to call you by your preferred name and the bathroom scene). And considering this has autobiografy elements (maybe the whole thing is a surreal retelling?) the creator could be expressing the pain that came with having the wrong label when born, so that's why the baby starts crying?

The only part about it that I don't agree with is the trans part. Not because I disagree with being trans, but because we just simply don't know the Creator of the game beyond the name "Mitchell" and their final message about being generally suicidal.
I'm not saying it's not plausible, I just don't want to make any hard assumption based off of it without confirmation.

I don't have any clue of any trans thing since we don't know much about the creator.

@@silverdededestruction2197 Hm I got that idea from another commentator, but you're right we really don't know. Maybe the label is just the simply act of degrading someone or giving them a set identity they don't agree with? In any case it's tied to the horrors of working in an establishment that doesn't respect you and treats you like a tool, so any interpretation is possible.

@@silverdededestruction2197 True, anything is possible. Looking at other comments it's possible that it more likely ties with the theme of depression or just losing your identity, because the key theme of the whole game is working in a hellish and inhumane company.
