I always liked the look of that particular Firebird generation but it just looked excellent in that ad.

-Who knew that Raisin Bran was a cereal of choice for Sailors?
-"Eat Your Campbell's. It's good for you." Reminds me of the Wheaties cereal slogan. Looks like Campbell's Soup is the equivalent of that.
-The frozen microwave popcorn reminds me of a trick I heard about where you can keep potato chips from going stale by keeping it in the fridge. I'm guessing the concept of frozen microwave popcorn is to keep it fresher longer.

2:53 - I don't know why, but this completely random shot of the old guy making a "shocked" face makes me laugh. It just kind of comes out of nowhere.

I spent probably 25 years wondering what exactly the "10K" was in that Campbell's Soup commercial.
Whoa...I never knew anyone that had that A-Team Racing set, I always wondered how that worked.

The Dalkon Shield PSA was definitely a harbinger of things to come with the currently omnipresent prescription drug settlement ads. Although it was really nice that the manufacturer was taking responsibility to rectify the matter; that rarely happens today.

Raisin Bran-maybe they shouldve taken the box with them
Dalkon Shield-sounds like a plot device from a Buck Rogers or Star Trek episode("Theyve activated the Dalkon Shield!!!")
Pontiac Firebird-guy at @2:55:"You were expecting maybe,David Hasselhoff?"
,McDonalds-tractor guy should see a chiropractor
    TVs Bloopers-Richard Simmons probably thinking"This i cant UN-see..!"
Pillsbury-guess you have to let the popcorn thaw out before placing it in the microwave..?
The A-Team-almost every action show back then had the obligatory"evil twins/impostors" episode
Riptide-Plot twist-one of those two guys they jumped was really the child's daddy
Remington Steele-he most likely had severe PTSD after that jail stay
Supergirl-going to miss the CW show(ending after this upcoming season)
A-Team Action Racing-that wouldve made a interesting episode, the team competing in a cross-country rally..with the Army getting in on it by adding some racers of their own
Fatal Vision-"I didnt kill my wife and children,so im gonna have to go ahead and ask you to drop this investigation. And if you really do find out who did it,that would be great."

I guess that Campbell's soup gave ol girl enough energy to run that marathon and then run her butt over to the CoTylenol dude's house to get freaky deaky... Never underestimate the power of soup.

I see these ads for the Tyco racing sets now and wonder if they worked just as well in these commercials - probably not!

They sure did, just keep the contacts clean and you have to trigger it just right around corners and such, they are great. I never had an elaborate set like that, but I still have my old track and cars, and they still work.

I seem to remember hearing that Christopher Reeve was supposed to do a cameo as Superman in the Supergirl movie, but he turned them down. I think after the three movies by that point, he was getting tired of the franchise. I remember they had to offer him quite a lot in order to get him to agree to do Superman IV a few years after this.

    • @TTrigg
      @TTrigg 3 роки тому +2

I think he did the Street Smart film(was something of a passion project for him) in exchange for starring in Superman IV

@@AlphaTrion92 Yeah, you're right. I always thought that the first two Superman movies were the best. I necper saw the third and fourth films. Plus, if you've seen any episodes of the Supergirl TV show, you noticed that Helen Slater has a recurring role as tKara's adopted mother.

Man, I wish the U.S. Army still did commercials like the ones they had back in the 80’s
Also, that Colt ad felt a little bit “Politically Incorrect”, but still kinda funny.
And the Trans Am ad is the most 80’s Thing I’ve ever seen.

That woman in the Campbell’s commercial, is she the actor who played Vosh on Star Trek: The Next Generation?

    • @StakeJade

John-Evan Bear Yes, I believe it is Jennifer Hetrick, who did play Vash on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
