Sold my 981 recently as I fancied a change.. looked at everything from Mustangs, F type V8’s, Aston Martin Vantage, TVR Tuscans and Nissan GT-R’s. Ended up with a 718S. One thing you didn’t mention was great value retention and Porsche as a great brand who values their heritage which also helps with residuals. Great vid!
I did the same thing, I was looking at a few different cars but at the end of the day the 718 Cayman S fit everything I wanted in a car. The way Porsche as a brand represents themselves was a big reason for the purchase. They are all about the customers and just making great driving sports cars. Happy you liked the video, plenty more to come!
"great value retention" that's the most important argument from my point of view to acquire a Cayman. The German market for used Caymans revealed the following: Base Caymans from 2017 or 2018 have depreciated only less than 20% of their original price. Thus, I would go for a new Cayman.
I drove a base 718 last year and it blew my mind 😲 such an amazing feeling with that mid engine and how light it is on its feet. I want one lol either a 981 or 718. Congrats brotha!
The base model actually feels a lot faster off the line than the S. Not sure why but yeah these cars just feel amazing! Good luck with your search for one, you can’t go wrong with either!
Haha you’re like a kid. You sound so excited. Porsche design is next level and their engineering matches it. I wish to own a panamera someday. I’m happy for you.
2019 Cayman Miami Blue here. Agree with everything you said. Got the stick though. Bought it last year with 5k miles on it. Everyone loves it especially the color. Congrats!
Last week parked my pre-owned 2017 718 Cayman S. Miami Blue with a 6-spd manual. Excluding the ceramic brake package, it's fully spec'ed. 9K on the clock. It's mid-engine design truly makes driving in S and S+ mode an experience.
I've driven one of these a few times and they are a BLAST to drive. Sport mode with a manual transmission in this car is probably the most fun I've had in an automobile.
Awesome video. The car is gorgeous. The car exemplifies your vibe- positive disposition with gratitude. Hope u still love it. Take care and enjoy. You are as cool as your ride. D

No food or liquids in my car ever (ok sometimes I have water).
Thanks for posting! I'm the proud owner of a 2018 718 Cayman S with a manual gearbox. So far I've done the Porsche short-throw shifter, the white Euro front side marker lights and the red-delete blackened tail lights (which look amazing on an agate grey car). Looking forward to see your tuning tricks to make it even more of a race car for the street!
You should post a video of the car on your channel, I'd love to check it out. Sounds like a beautiful spec! The lowering springs, tune and wrap are going on this car in April so ill be posting lots of video's about the process.
I was thinking of buying one of these since C8’s are impossible to get right now. I searched for a 2021 Cayman and found yours. I’m liking it but I want it with a manual.
I am new to your channel, and I ran into this video because I am searching for information about the 718 Cayman S, as I will probably buy one. You mentioned APR Tuning in it. Did you do it? If so, is it any good , especially the ECU tuning? Any downside to it? Your help will be appreciated.
Congrats on the purchase. I'm also looking for 718 cayman s pretty soon. Man I've literally watched every review on this car on UA-cam and I just can't wait haha. I've driven a base 911 and it felt incredibly fast I can just imagine a even lighter vehicle and mid engine!! And best part is they're way more affordable than a 911.
Hey Joshua, thanks for watching! I actually recently raced a base 2017 911 and the cayman S was a bit faster! These cars are amazing and for the price you can’t get better. I’m excited for you to join the 718 family!
Hi sir, Would you recommend to get the plans below? Windshield protection, Appearance protection, Porsche protection plan, Cosmetic wheel protection, Dent protection, Key protection. I’m going to keep my 2018 cayman gts as daily car for a long time. All the plans above are affective for 6 years, cost $16.5k. Is it worth it? Thank you so much!!
Do you have 20” tires on your S? Asking because if the ride is hard, you could downsize to 19”. I test drove 2 CS, one had 19”, the other 20” and there was a big difference in the ride. Some say there is no difference between tire sizes but others swear there is. Just thought I would throw that one in just in case.
I actually heard that was a good fix from another guy too. I would do that but I’m lowering the car anyways so the ride will never be great :/ but it’s a sports car so I’ll learn to live with it. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Porsche dosent have a ‘button’ to start the engine. I prefer turning the ignition myself, so when someone dosent option the keyless go, you turn the ignition with the key. But, if the car has the keyless go you have a key in there already, just gotta switch it on. Heritage feature, and I love it.
New it’s $72before options. So what year is the one you bought? These small cars are very expensive. A4 cylinder turbo with no serious exhaust for $80k with a few options. How much did this one cost?
They can definitely get pricey but it definitely justifies the price tag once you drive it. I purchased mine used, it’s a 2017 with 45k miles and I paid $49k
@@DriveMore718 Ok that makes more sense because of the mileage. My brother bought a 2014 Boxster S for $47k with 9,000 miles. It has the flat 6 and it called a 981 S. He loves it too. They are pricey. Do you have a warranty?
