Hellas is everything, everywhere and for ever. 🇬🇷🇬🇷Crete is one of the most old islands in the humans History, with continuing culture of more than 7.000 years..
I was in the US Air Force and Stationed on Crete in 80-90s. Spent 8 years there. I left 1993 and returned July 2019. I was in Chania many times during my tour. The base closed 1993. It was great to return. Chania was my favorite place on Crete.
It must be amazing to see it 25+ years later. I can't even imagine how different it would be. It's a very special place. Thanks for watching Peter - Anna
No way! You're in for a treat. Every place has been incredible and so very different at the same time. Crete feels like a whole other country! 😃 - Anna
Gabriel you'll love it! Have you been before? I feel like you've been everywhere. haha. We found Crete to be so very different than the rest of Greece. Almost like it's on country if that makes sense. - Trevor
Nope, this will be my first time to Crete, never been in all my times to Greece. Yeah that's what I expect, that it would have its own culture to some extent. Looking forward to it!
Chania is a must. Also, on the south side of the island we found a few smaller gems. Paleochora is one (it's like a little surf town) and then Matala (it has some crazy history with caves and hippies..yes hippies) If you watch our Crete Beaches video you'll get a glimpse of that town at the end. It's very chill. - T
I've been to Chania when I was around 16 yrs of age... didn't see much of the culture that time, would love to go back. And this Greek food, so tasteful.
I think you guys would really enjoy it. It's slow paced with some great cafes and restaurants. Also, some bits of history of course. Crete itself is beautiful! - Anna
you must do it for a week...you have to visit elafonisi ,balos, falassarna, seitan harbour, marathi, loytraki, and maybe 2 days palaiochora and samaria gorgre and more more places
Awesome video, I've been two times in Greece and one of the times I spent in Crete - Agia Galini was the town... it's been a while now and plan a trip to Greece in October. Can't wait to go! Love all the facts you deliver for this island. The lighthouse looks so interesting! I really love old architecture and history about places and Greece looks like its made for me. Greek food is so good! Loved the vlog! Can't wait to see more of your journey!
Rob thanks for the comment. Crete is so amazing. There is just so much history here and we can't wait to show it off some more. Next up is a food video.. then.. the beach. Cheers - Trevor
I love Crete. I visited before I moved to Canada when I still lived in the UK. I was 8 months pregnant and o ly allowed to go for a week because of the flight back. I loved it.
My wife and I have just returned from Chania after 4 days there. We’re sad that we only had about an hour to see the old city before heading to the airport so this video is helping us understand what we missed and plan a return soon! Btw, the pie you guys tried was the first thing we had on our first night and I enjoyed that so much because it was the closest to Brazilian Pastel I’ve been in 2 years (we live in Belgium). But mine was a mix of both the cheese and spinach and the combination was awesome! Thanks for the video 😁🇬🇷
In the Harbour of Hania is a resident Logged head Turtle which we was lucky to see him 3 times whilst there, Fantastic. If there, we found him pretty close to Capt Nicks Glass bottom boat, hope like us you are lucky enough to catch a glimpse.
Guys some decades ago Greeks used to be mostly mountainous people. So there are thousands of beautiful mainland villages with this kind of architecture like in Croatia etc. Even in ancient Athens the houses (not the temples) looked more beige neoclassical than you think. Romans then took that architecture. White houses with blue doors/windows are mostly (I'd say only) in Cyclades islands
We found the same thing in Athens as well yeah. It really is just the Cyclades with the white / blue structures isn't it? It makes for some great photos 😃 - Trevor

Chania is amazing right? But Croatia is very high up there for us. It may be our favourite country even. You have a pretty tough choice on your hands Samira 😃 - Trevor
Just viewed your video. Chania looks great! My brother visited there about 6 years ago. He only had good things to say about it. Don't know if anyone commented on this, but it looks like you guys were trying the Tiropita (Cheese Pie) and Spanakopita (Spinach pie). These are common throughout Greece with some variation. Sometimes they make them in large trays and cut them into squares. Other times they make them into a small pie shapes or triangle shapes. My mom used to make the spanakopita with feta as well which was a good blend of flavors. My mom is no longer with us, so this brings back memories.
We love how information your videos are! There is so much history in those cities, so it's really cool to hear all about it. That venetian port looks super cool too. Those pastries look good! Wet and soggy spinach is never good haha. Can't wait to watch more food tasting in the next video!

Usually the two types of pies that you ate we call spanakopitaki ( spinach pie) and tiropitaki (cheese pie), very easy to be made at home. 😊
Nice as Chania is, damage caused by the Germans in WWII means the old town is more fragmented and mixed up with newer buildings. It's a fine place but just a few miles further east on the same northern coast is the town of Rethymno which has THE most charming and unspoiled old town where you can wander down narrow cobbled alleys, past welcoming tavernas and some high quality shopping. I've been to Chania once and Rethymno 3 or 4 times. Nuff said :)
Just been there, took a photo of a young American couple kissing under the lighthouse by accident. Then they got a beautiful photo of themselves which they did not expected before 😊

We are loving your videos - we are off to Santorini, Crete, Corfu and Mykonos in May next year. Thanks for the effort you put in. And... is that Trevor's top you are wearing Anna? Haha... nothing like mix and match :)
That sounds like an absolutely amazing trip! Wow 😃 You'll need to go back and watch our Bocas Town video to see how that pineapple shirt first appeared. But yes.. we share some clothing items and sun glasses. - Anna
Yes, we will be on one of those pesky cruises. It's a great way to see a few places though. We are staying in both Rome and Santorini for a week though so it's not all cruising :)
I'm travelling to Chania in May and very excited!! Can you tell me what the locals English is like if any? Trying to learn Greek is not going as well as I'd hoped! When did you go, as concerned about it now being hot enough in May😟 And how do people tend to dress? Thankyou so much, you've been so helpful with the video already💕
Megan Laurie most younger folks speak English but lots of people don’t. You don’t need to learn Greek. Pointing and laughing along with broken phrases with locals will get you by just fine. We were there in July and it was very hot. People dress just like anywhere else. Have so much fun - Trevor
I was in Xania for a couple months this past spring. Almost everyone speaks English to varying degrees. But a little Greek can go a long way! Hello, How are you? Please, Thank you, Delicious! The Greeks are the friendliest people I've met on my travels! I've always tried to say at least a few things in the native language every country I visit (out of respect), and the Greeks are the only people to appreciate it, AND corrected my grammar - in a helpful, friendly way. The day before I left, I was informed by one of my Cretan friends, that I was no longer American, but Greek. Hahaha
Love the editing style, what do you use to edit? As for the moats, usually, they drew the waters from the nearest rivers, looking at a map there are 2 rivers running 30km ish either side of Milan...that's a long way to haul water with horse and cart though :? Those 7 archway things look like old boat building ramps or something? Pretty interesting though!
Hey FS! Thanks.. it's always great when someone points out the editing 😊 We use Final Cut Pro X for all the vids. You're probably right about the moats. We never thought of that. I'd say those archways were for boats as well. - Trevor

Def worth the visit Colum. It feels like another country all together. - Trevor
Well edited and informative video, complemented by music and good drone shots at the right spots. Did you check out the archeological museum of Chania or Minoans' World?
Thanks so much. We didn't make it the museums no. Maybe next time! - Anna
Perfect place
#dreamland right?
How many days would you recommend would be good to see Chani. I have just booked two weeks in Crete and would like to travel about and spend a few days in different places
At least 3 or 4!
- Anna
I will watch that - just catching up on your videos, forgot to say we are also stopping at Kotor - so glad we are after watching that video!!
You're going to KOTOR!? That place is absolutely magical. We talk about that city and bay quite often
Yes, we will be on one of those pesky cruises. It's a great way to see a few places though. We are staying in both Rome and Santorini for a week though so it's not all cruising :)
Love the music whos the composer
Delightful Travellers is it good for party?
- Trevor
Wondering what month you visited 🥵
The video is very good , and I live there but there is a little money stake u did : the light house is made by Egyptians and the hole port is by the vetians
Oh good to know. That's such an interesting fact - Trevor
