@@thomasdempsey721 I was running an amusement park ride that had light show and music at this time and had to buy the cassette single of Roam it was requested so much.
The B-52s are very talented, very campy, and a lot of fun. Don't sleep on this band. Check out other songs like Rock Lobster, Private Idaho, Roam, Planet Claire, Cosmic Thing, Give Me Back My Man, and so many others.
I saw Rob Squad Reactions react to Rock Lobster, and they didn't get it, but I thought in this video Bars and Barbells said that they hadn't reacted to Rock Lobster yet.
I had the pleasure of seeing this performed in person. KC and the Sunshine Band opened. That entire concert was a giant party! When I think of voices that just go together, Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson are dang near the top of my list. I'm glad you enjoyed this one.
I still remember watching the B-52s perform Rock Lobster on SNL in January, 1980. It was wild! That iconic performance is how they were introduced to the world. They were an obscure band, as were most musical guests on SNL back then. Everybody was talking about them on Monday! And we danced like crazy to that song throughout the 80s!
This is retro retro. From the 1970 - 80s, styled like 1950 - 60s. 'Groovy baby!' Fred was a talky performer but those gals were real singers. They were so much fun. Nice to see you back btw.
Welcome Back =) My favorite B-52 song is "Rock Lobster" and "Roam" is pretty good tune as well ! I saw them in 1980 with "Mother's Finest" It was a great show and i was lucky enough to get some great photos ✌🤘
When you say that they're kind of talk singing and not really belting it out, actually you mean the lead vocal which is intentionally that way, but if you listen to the two women that were renowned for their incredible backing vocals, they are not only belting it out all the time, they're doing all kinds of really difficult things with their voices. And yeah, this was a massive party hit, but really they had an earlier party hit like that that was massive call Rock Lobster, which I can't remember if you have reacted to or not, but it was a few years earlier, and that became a staple at parties back then. But after Rock Lobster, you ultimately had Brian Eno coming out of the seminal band Roxy Music, and starting to produce bands like the Talking Heads, and the Cocteau Twins from Scotland and then he produced this B-52's album, including Love Shack here, which is just so well put together. It's amazing. I've seen them do this live back in the day and it was so incredible it's difficult to describe.
That one song that ALWAYS gets me out on the dance floor. They performed on the steps of San Francisco City Hall about 20+ years ago and the crowd went nuts on this.
I live in the San Francisco East Bay. In 2000, a group of co-worker and I went to a daytime outdoor concert and the B-52's opened for The Go Go's. One of my top 5 concerts of all time! ♥
The video for Love Shack was filmed in a private home. When they focus on the window looking past the bathtub, one of the two men out working in the back yard garden was the homeowner. He'd decided to get some stuff done out there since the house was so crowded.
If you weren't tapping your toes at this song's beat, you weren't listening well enough! The B-52s were a DOMINANT dance band, and had a VERY unique style. Long Live the Love Shack!
You gotta remember that they were a 90s band doing retro. They were rocking styles and music form the sixties beach culture and seventies funk with modern 90s vibe. They were essentially doing callback music. That’s why their styles look so crazy. They weren’t actually in sixties. This was made in the nineties, and they were paying tribute to the 60s.
I have hosted Karaoke at a Pub in Michigan for over 20 years & have heard this sung a million times. Everyone always loves to sing along with this silly song. This one is up ere with Neil Diamonds 'Sweet Caroline' & Journeys' Don't stop believing'. Definitely drunk sing along songs. LOL
"B-52" was the order number in a catalog for a high stacked wig. You have no idea how much fun it was to join in on "Bang-bang-bang on the door baby" along with them in concert, or even just to see them in concert. The next time you watch the video keep an eye out for a very young Ru Paul. Rock Lobster and Private Idaho are both must listen to songs.
This did in fact take over the clubs "back" in my heyday!! I still karaoke this from time to time! Loved it then and it brings back memories of super fun times! We thought it was so cool because it was so retro! LOL
This was their biggest hit but not their only hit by far. It made it to #3 in the US and spent 27 weeks in the top 40. The album Cosmic Thing which this came off of had about a half a dozen hits. They will still be remembered for their 70's hit Rock Lobster . They have had quite a few fun hits even the Flinstons theme from the movie . I've seen them live 5 times and every time was a huge party. Love them.
I didn't notice any indication you guys have returned, so maybe this was prepared earlier. Anyway, it's great to see you both again! Hoping to see more!
Three real fun B-52 songs are: Rock Lobster, Planet Claire, and Tell It Like It T-I-Is. They also have a different and interesting version of the Petula Clark song Downtown.
Love this band.....so fun. Live "Dirty Back Road" is one of my favorites. Cindy's voice is so good on the track. "Give Me Back My Man" is another live one featuring Cindy that is also a winner.
This was a brilliant song by the B-52's. They knew exactly what they were doing when they wrote this song. This was a big club hit for years. DJ's used this song for several years to get people on the dance floor and to get the club jumping. It is still a favorite of wedding DJ's because much like YMCA by the Village People, most everyone knows it and they love dancing to it. Absolutely brilliant.
B52's were an awesome alternative group from Georgia initially played on college radio stations but then had this huge hit, Love Shack and Roam. Rock Lobster may be a little too strange for you guys. Another funky tune is their lead singer Freddie Schneider's song Monster in My Pants
This was their HUGE comeback song (and album) following the death of Ricky Wilson. They'd already creating hits (college radio faves!) been around for 10+ years by the time "Cosmic Thing" (the album this song is from) hit the airwaves. I've been a fan since '79 or '80 and still have my original Rock Lobster 7".
This song has a special place in my heart. About 13 years ago, I was at a family reunion type pig roast. We had a karaoke machine, and that was one of the songs that my nieces and nephews sang together. It was so awesome! My cousin who hosted the pig roast passed away in 2015. We’ve had a few since then, but only one since Covid. And on another note, I’m so sorry for what happened to you guys with UA-cam. I miss your daily videos, but I understand why you’re unable to do them right now. Hopefully it will get better and you can get back to doing your two videos a day.
this song was so much fun! and from Georgia generally considered conservative and i do not know there personal live but i just loved it! they have so much more to dive into! Rock Lobster will rock your world! Party out of Bounds Planet Claire just to name a few! you will be in for a wild treat!
Hard to believe they'd been putting out albums for 10 years at this point and "Love Shack" was huge and their first song to crack the Top 40, peaking at #3. The follow-up single "Roam" also hit #3.
This was a total dance anthem back in my generation. Beach party, college party, dance clubs, Halloween parties, birthdays, weddings... everywhere!!!

Private Idaho too. Those are their OG hits.
It's so awesome live
You probably didn't notice, but the African American queen with the big afro was none other than a very early RuPaul.
They got the inspired by a real place they went to. Roam is another great song from the B52's
LOL...I bought the "cassette-single" for my ghetto-blaster!
Absolutely react to Roam. It’s dedicated to the male lead singer who died.

This was a late 80s song that brought back a late 60s flower power hippy vibe.

The harmony of these 2 girls is perfect. No-one else does it better.
💯
Man, this one was literally EVERYWHERE. For like 20byears. And even now still gets play. It has a solid groove and just non stop power.
You just can't not smile when you hear this song....😊
Yes, Rock Lobster is an absolute must!
They 'did' Rock Lobster and didn't get it. It went right over their heads.
I saw Rob Squad Reactions react to Rock Lobster, and they didn't get it, but I thought in this video Bars and Barbells said that they hadn't reacted to Rock Lobster yet.
@@StuartistStudio1964 oh fair enough - wrong reaction video then!
Imagine having gone through life for so long without hearing The B-52s... now your world is a bit more vibrant and colourful!
We had the DJ play this at my grandmother's 80th birthday party. She loved it and danced through the whole song!
Are they ready for “Rock Lobster”? 🎸🦞
Nobody's ready for Rock lobster the first time.
It short circuits the minds of reactors -- always fun to watch!
And Planet Claire
They will never be ready for Rock lobster
Or Family Guy's Iraq Lobster even

Late 80’s early 90’s neon colors were huge. There was a club in Cincinnati called Neons … danced to this and Dee LITE there.
B-52's was also the name given to the bee hive wigs the girls used.
