It was nice to see Jesse and JoCat as the support team.
Seriously with everything JoCat has been having to deal with, it's good to see him having fun in the game.
How fitting that it was optional dialogue that made Kyle cry.
Ultima Thule houses my favorite moment in all of Endwalker. During launch week me and a friend made it to the last quest in the flower field, “Endwalker.” We also got a notification that emergency maintenance would start in 20 mins. We had no chance of finishing the quest.
So instead, we sat down in the flowers, and turned our shout chat back on. We’d turned them off to avoid spoilers, and figured this was the place to turn it back on.
Shout chat was FILLED with people crying out, calling for each other, comforting each other, and helping one another through this emotional experience. One by one people sat with us in the flowers, and we talked about the expansion. We stayed there until the server kicked us out.
By far my favorite moment in this game. It felt real good to sit in those flowers again all day yesterday.

I'd like to take a moment to flashback to the end of base Stormblood, where Zenos invites you to "while away the hours as confidant and friend, if you would accept me?" and the most commonly chosen player response being "I deny you."
To contrast it now with that final response, "THAT, I can't deny" and his response "Acceptance at last!"

There was some behind the scenes stuff YoshiP talked about in a FFXIV radio he did with Krile's and Thancred's JP VAs.
In it he mentioned two things which were amusing regarding Emet's speech which I think both of you may appreciate
1) One of the reasons they delayed EW's release was because they wanted to get that final speech from Emet just *perfect*. 2) All the stuff Emet said wasn't all planned ahead of time, and because you had to see the planet's geography from Mare Lamentorium the map makers and story writers went to YoshiP and said "Yeah just say whatever you want, we'll figure it out later"
And you have an expansion(potential) teaser better than what Metzen did in Blizzcon. (I couldn't help myself)
The great thing is that all of those places do exist. It really ignites the imagination.

@@brunohenriqueazevedoborges5490Considering how many people thought it was Venats voice, after you kill Zodiark, and not realizing it was a new voice until first meeting Meteion I would not make assumptions about people's ability to recognize this stuff.

Players were a little sussy of Venat/Hydaelyn because of the devs in Shadowbringers at that point, and once you kill Zodiark you see the planet destroyed and a female voice saying "...at last..."
It's 100% designed to make you think Hydaelyn is celebrating Zodiark's death for some reason.
Compared to the Raid teaser at the end here, where Elidibus has the most distinctive voice-actor in FFXIV. Plus the white robes.
I remember finding your guys' podcast while I was doing fates in Ultima Thule. I commented on the "We're an FFXIV Channel Now" video and have been watching ever since. It's amazing how playing this game has a way of changing people for the better. Congratulations on all your accomplishments these past 2 years. You've made this community a better place.
You know, i think one of the reasons this format worked so well, is because this is two friends doing a beautiful story about friendship, be it the actual story or the moments with actual people.
Ff14 is a game i absolutely loved, but i would have a hard time doing it again. That reccurent rendez vous with the two pals doing it all over a long period was such a relaxing experience. I especially like that both of you enjoyed some very different things, Kyle loving the magic and the lore, while Garett is over there hyped about villains.
The way i say it it seems like the end even though it is not, but i would say its the end of the meal. What follows is the same restaurant, but another meal. It may be as good or worse than the one you just finished, but nothing can take away the fact that you have had that full course experience, from ARR to endwalker. Many other stories told in this media and others would kill to finish on such a high note.
So i say, here is to you, Grinding Gear, Garett, Kyle, all those who helped in some way for this journey !
He hid the UI after the second Dungeon boss wich completely hid the text of the dude cheering how he "killed them all" then realized what he just did
Close in the Distance as a song means so much to me. I am so glad you made it here and got to listen to the song revealing itself throughout the zone. The song never fails to make me cry. "Walk on, never look back. Through you we live." It gets to me every time. I've loved watching you go through Endwalker and I'm so excited for you to go through the patches and the raids.
It's funny how different the experinces with that song are. For me Close in the Distance absolutly ruined the last zone, because I absolutly hate that song. xD
"We'll travel the lands, cross the seas, and take to the skies upon the eternal wind -- and it will be marvelous!" It was and it is. Our infuriatingly adorable lab-engineered cat boy is adorable and correct.

That moment where Ardbert rejoins with you and Garrett says “oh, fuck yeah” is probably my favorite moment in the whole playthrough.
Best part about the morning after the final 6.0 stream? Probably gonna be the Jesse Cox podcast in a couple hours.
Second best part? Being able to go back and re-watch my favorite bits from yesterday.

watching the vod made me tear up a few times. i did the walk on release - covid in full swing, just out of a long term relationship of 4y, living alone for the first time in 10y - it crushed me, but man, did it feel good and cathartic. stand tall my friends, our journey will never end.

I have been a silent viewer of your streams since day 1, when you were still in Heavensward. I remember your first stream popping up in my recommended, and felt an instant kinship to you both, as I’m a fellow Oregonian-turned-Floridian like Kyle and a fellow diehard Arthas fanboy like Garrett 😂
It’s been incredible watching you grow with the game and fall more and more in love with it. It’s been quite a journey over the last few years and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. I’ve had a great time watching your reactions to major story beats and listening to your analyses and thoughts, watching you level different jobs and try out different roles, watching you conquer extreme trials (every night that you guys do an EX trial stream, my husband and I put the stream up on our tv and make popcorn and have a blast). Since the beginning, you two have come so far, both in-game and with regard to building a strong, kind, passionate community. I’m truly impressed with all you’ve accomplished and know that you will only continue to do great things in the future!
Congratulations on finishing the main story of Endwalker. It’s a big deal and I hope you loved every moment. I look forward to what’s next for you both (savage raids? 👀👀), especially as we come up on Dawntrail’s release.

There's something so iconic about Ra La being, essentially, the last primal we face in the game.
Born from the nihilist apathy of the people of Nibiru, this twisted reflection is what could have eventually become of the Ancients.
I like that at some point the game all but says “this is what becomes of the Ancient’s paradise if life went on as unbothered as it was. It would basically reach the same issue but in a deep societal issue rather than an unknown crisis”. And I find that beautiful that in the end the answer was actually given to them, in the form of another even-more-peaceful society. It really is the rejection of their supposed paradise that basically presume only Amaroutines got to have the fun life of creating whatever.
During my D&D session last night, a player went to use the restroom and I peaked in at the stream. You guys were at The Walk, and I paused the session to watch. Love see you guys here!
You know, sometimes i lament that time zones, and RL conspire to make sure i never get to watch live. But these marathon streams give me the unique opportunity to fall asleep listening to you, and wake up the same way. That's actually kinda' neat.
Now i look forward to spend my evening watching about 8.5 hours of "the middle bit".

I just want to add that I don't watch many streamers past a couple videos because they're often exaggerating their reactions for engagement and their eyes darting constantly to their chat, but after I stumbled upon you two maybe two years ago I've gone back and watched every video from the past 4 years and then some. You have been consistently thoughtful, sincere, engaging, and relatable just by being yourselves. Thank you for letting us be emotional vampires and joining you on your remarkable journey.

What a god damn journey indeed. While I couldn’t be present as it was live, it’s clear to see that the feels of the walk up to The Dead Ends, Endsinger, and Zenos’s solo duty have worked their magick once again. Of course, the story is far from over - Dawntrail being only a fair three months away and Kyle and Garrett having now the myths of the realm likely next on their plate. But for the time being, it’s been a marvelous adventure.
Another "I don't usually comment but" lurker comment: I don't think I enjoyed EW as much as I might normally have on release, purely because I was in kind of a bad headspace at the time. Watching this duo go through it and have so much fun was weirdly cathartic. Thanks for that, and I look forward to seeing what you get up to next.
Forgot how majestic Garret's 2021 coiffure was. Still a much bigger fan of the natural long locks, but the frosted-tip high-top he had going on was something else. So glad to have been along for this ride and am looking forward to all your other adventures, in XIV and whatever other games you choose to play. Congrats on Endwalking!!
I'm sure someone will have told you this before you guys have a chance to read this, but Close in the Distance has an extra layer of meaning. It references each expansion of the game in the lyrics. "Rises, on a world reborn from the ashes" is ARR. "'Neath the heavens" is Heavensward. "To sunset, blood red skies tranquil after the storm" is Stormblood. "Blessed shadow" is Shadowbringers.
This song never ceases to take my breath away.

I'll always remember two years ago when I was working an archival job in a dark room alone, I just happened to see the channel and thought it might be nice to help pass the many quiet work hours. I'd wish you both a good rest but between patch content, side content, and child #3 on the way for Kyle, I think it's probably better to just wish you both good luck in the coming weeks! I've been watching your guys off and on since you started playing FFXIV. After I recognized Garret from when I listened to The Instance way back in highschool. I'm glad you enjoyed the story and community so much, and that you're thriving.
Never have I seen so many people show up in the Elpis flower field. That was absolutely nuts. You guys deserve it
I tend to only watch your video/podcast, or only skim the VODs, but tonight, I couldnt help but stay in stream for a while as you did the Dead End with Jocat and Jesse, as you wnet through the Endsinger, the duel with Zenos, as you did the whole epilogue. I probably should have been sleeping. But I stayed here, this was oh so worth it. To see the community come together, breaking the server even.
Was there for the full stream minus the last 30min since I needed to get sleep for work, but it was a great time. Been watching since your videos back in ARR so its been crazy watching you finally hit the end. To think you've wrapped up 10 years of story telling and now you are getting ever closer to the "Dawntrail waiting room" lol. Can't wait for the upcoming patch content streams and future Dawntrail streams.

They just confirmed it, Limit break is DYNAMYS!
I mean, wasn't it already hinted in Thavnair? Even the dancer questline iirc there some hints.
Is it though? In a domain where Dynamis is the only meaningful power where aether alone wouldn’t be enough? I don’t deny it was by the power of Dynamis it enacted phenomena, and in an LB, you have a lot of emotion to push past your limits, but that it was just the one trial in the one specific place. If it were on Etheirys, then I’d believe it no question. Also consider Zodiark held Dynamis at bay for over 12 millennia. So I’m not easily convinced. Not without more proof at least.
@@acgearsandarms1343 Zodiark didn't hold back Dynamis per se, he just made it harder for Meteion to affect the star from outside. Dynamis itself is clearly present in the world and capable of affecting phenomena, as evidenced by the Elpis flower in the present day.
@@kaly8329 Yeah, it was, but they didn't spell it out clearly. They do mention say, paraphrased "Have you ever felt like you suddenly surpassed your limits in a tough fight", and the idea is that they are definitely referencing doing Limit Breaks during fights, but without being clear, there are many ohter interpretations. Like how the WoL walks during shadowbringers with all the light inside of him and he still fights. During this fight, however, it is VERY clear. Meteon uses the big explosion, Tank WoL uses LB, meteon exclaims "Dynamys???!!!???".
@@acgearsandarms1343 You seem to be confused, Zodiark didn't hold back Dynamis, It just prevented the massive flow of it coming from Meteon to affect Etherys. Dynamys is already on etherys, as it surrounds everything, that energy just exists just like Aether does. They are even experimenting and discussing it already in Thavnair, calling it Akasha. They tell the WoL, "have you ever felt like you suddenly surpass your own limits during fights? That is akasha." They were referring to Limit Breaks, but they weren't REALLY spelling it out, leaving room to interpretation. With Meteon declaring "Dynamyss???" after the tank WoL uses their LB, they are doing their best to spell it out.

I've watched a fair few people play through this game since I did it myself but you guys have been one of the more enjoyable ones and I think that's at least partly due to how Garrett came into the game in such similar circumstances to me. That being "I'm a Shadowlands refugee looking for something else to play and my friend is telling me about this FFXIV game and I haven't played many FF games in the past but I'll give it a shot anyway". I never quite got to watch a stream live but it's been great tagging along retroactively and I can't wait to see what you guys make of the patch content. Maybe if they ever let EU players travel to US realms I'll come visit with one of my finest persimmons for each of you.
Also, "Condemned to Paradise" sounds like an AMAZING band name. Just saying.

I think I found you guys around when your most recent video was the 5.5 patch video so I haven’t been around as long as some people but all the same it’s been quite an enjoyable ride, I hadn’t finished 6.0 long before finding you but I loved re-experiencing the story through all your videos and enjoying the theorising and the little amv/gmv sequences you do for your videos as well as just you two having an enjoyable personality. So thanks for this journey guys I can’t wait to see you both go through the rest of 14 and everything beyond

In the Endsinger fight, I love the detail of her closing her eyes to the light, so all she can do is party-wides and trying to keep the light away from her. Such a neat little detail that took me a few times seeing the fight to notice.
Watched for 5+ hours today =) What an amazing journey =) Lots of fun patch stuff also, from the dungeons to the raids (I love the Alliance raid series)... Have fun =) Excited for Dawntrail =)
