I like this video in several ways. It is short, don't waste my time and gets straight to the point. Bordom is a lack of paying attention and meditation helps to cure that. Simple and true message.
Excellent! Meditating is concentrating all your attention in one thing (can be a mantra, the breath...) and going back each time we get distracted. Getting distracted is part of the journey! Have a great practice! Excelente! Meditar es concentrar toda tu atención en una sola cosa (puede ser un mantra, la respiración...) y volver a ella cada vez que nos distraemos. Distraerse es parte del viaje! Buena práctica! Namaste _ /\ _
Anybody else feel like this just isn’t realistic? “A productive capacity for doing nothing....” Breathing being a blissful source. “Boredom being an object of intense interest” “You’ll never be bored” Always being content. Etc. I just started practicing mindfulness in hopes that it can help me out a little but I’m not expecting anything close to this.
yeah it's that easy, just meditate and practice mindfulness ... legends say if practice long enough you will grow a pair wings and can fly to distant galaxy.... No offense, it is effective but more or less like physical exercise. I suffer from depression and find boredom is one of it's manifest , if you take out all fuss (judgments) out, it is about positive mood, attention, sleep, energy etc, in one word you may call it quality of life. Mindfulness and self-awareness majorly helps to prevent worsening of the symptoms and constructively managing it. It may even improve but still I find engaging in act of running, cycling, working out, socializing, listening music, novel acts effective and rewarding too. Psycho-education was one of the biggest effective element. However sometimes when nothing works, I just have to wait, bear and go through it. So it just one tool in my toolbox but I am glad I didn't bet all on it. In effort to fix it, I tried different tools in which I developed productive hobbies. But even these tools started working for me after I started taking anti-depressant. Before that I have been in through phases where depression would run through months and these tools would just make it less painful. You can be all non-judgmental and mindful about it but that won't fix it. Even monks who are the champions on it but have been through trauma(I read few instance of torture) have to seek medical help for PSTD. This over hype and over promise of meditation and mindfulness could be reason of frustration for some of us who really need it, and the frustration ultimately may lead them to abandon it. I find it unfortunate when philosophers/intellectuals put out their opinions as claims without substantial evidence. IMO real philosophers leaves you with more questions & paradox than any claim. But then they often become too complicated to be understood by general audience and be popular.
From experience, the style and technique of meditation makes a huge difference. Intensity, duration, and frequency of formal sessions make up another big factor. Watered-down Buddhist monastic practices are not that helpful for managing, much less curing, anxiety and depression. They often exacerbate the symptoms. Nonetheless, body scan meditations and yoga nidra and Nishkam Karma yoga mantra meditations and Self-Enquiry practiced regularly can be way more effective than physical exercise and antidepressants. Mindfulness by itself is definitely overhyped, so switch approaches.
Sam is absolutely correct about meditation curing boredom. The solution is literally right under your nose!
😛..

How does you tide ebb and flo my friend? How gleams your Stone and goes the fiend ?
As a reader I simply cannot comprehend boredom. So long as I've got something to read (even something boring), I cannot be bored.
Suppose you don't have anything to read. What do you do then?
Lucky you, reading bores the crap of out of me.
No idea why I'm subscribed to this channel but great video!

The cure for boredom is curiosity... There is no cure for curiosity.
So you're telling me to stop reading books. My hobby
Huh?
That is not right
Then why do teachers suggest us to read books?
@@prashastprajapati1483 He didn't say that, he said that when you're bored you should meditate.
