It's a super nice phone. I'd love to use it as my main but it's a bit too big for my preference and I'm not a fan of curved displays, but man it's a nice phone!

Jared, please let us know if the screen/pixels over the camera are easily visible and/or distracting? or it's completely unnoticeable where the camera is?

Speaking for the people that doesnt care about brands but performance and "uniqueness" of smartphones. ZTE got me hooked with the Axon M now i want the Axon 40 Ultra. Look at that screen 🔥😍
I bought this one and I can tell you that this phone is fantastic. I got it for the cameras and they are TOP NOTCH. Oh the 8k video on this one is mind blowing!
uniqueness is so important these days, in a world with almost identical phones with only different brand names. the Axon 40 Ultra is a super duper nice phone.

The nothing brand has cool looking transparent phones and earbuds but the software is total 🤢😝💩🗑but hey the company just got its tip wet so in time will tell.

Where did you find that wallpaper bro
it got the best superwide camera, consistent and hi res hw, colors similar to xperia, focal lengths very useful for me.
However, from gsma and other test shots its hi res mode is like upscale, main and maybe even tele camera got either soft lens or poor processing. If raws were better, it would be worthy to have, otherwise its hard to buy over 12S.
Is this phone available in both CDMA and GSM versions as where I live in Wisconsin we don’t have much GSM and my local carrier runs the latest CDMA type thanks for your answer in advance

Can someone please tell me how the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra compares to their last generation Axon 30 5G in terms of the under display camera performance? If there is not much of a difference then I might be tempted to save $300 and get the Axon 30 5G instead.

With the under screen camera, how does it handle video calls?
this is going to sound sad, but I don't have any friends to video call with. The same "try to stay away from bright light reflections" rule would apply for video calls to achieve useable imaging.
I bet Jerry rig will find out if it's got a IR blaster
it's like a phone of my dreams because am not user of selfie camera but i think i will go for the chinese version , the ir blaster is the one of most important things that i need my device

@@JaredBusch compared with Samsung S22 Ultra...a big difference. But I'm waiting here with my OnePlus 6T 256gb 8gb to see if OnePlus 10 Ultra will be possible! Cheers bro.
@@KTMLaranjinha oh yeah! the S22 Ultra has an insane camera setup. rumor has it that the OnePlus 10 Ultra will only have a 5x periscope. but 5x is way batter than 3.5x

Believe me the phone companies know those curve displays are a pain in d ass it's one of those things that looks very cool but has practicality issues When you're using it daily.

that's a good question and unfortunately I'm not sure, I don't know where people buy phones from in Europe, but if I was to guess, I imagine like the rest of the world, probably either through your network carrier or directly from ZTE. I know here in North America, we'd order it directly from the ZTE website.

My s20 fe will take at least another 2 major updates. I would be really disappointed to buy the zte only to find out that i ll get only android 13...

My only problem with the Axon 40 Ultra is software support...
There seems to be no other statement by ZTE then "It will receive Security Updates every 3 months and also Android 13 at some point"
I mean... The Axon 30 Ultra STILL hasn't got Android 12 even tho it was in the Beta Program...

I believe ZTE has said they will provide 2 years of software support and 3 years of security updates. whether that's true or not is still to be seen.

Should have been $400 no where close to be an $800 phone
big disclaimer regarding this phone. it has software bugs from HELL. cant make or take calls, home gesture randomly stops working, camera app crashes all the time. ACTUALLY UNUSABLE
I haven't experienced any of those issues except for the camera crashing when I manually enable HDR. I've made ZTE aware of this and they are now working on a fix.

lol, I don't think anyone, even Apple, wanted a camera bump. the bump is only there because modern phone cameras don't fit inside the slim chassis OEMs have engineered. has nothing to do with copying a camera bump.
The best under display camera yet, but it's still rubbish,,, time for manufacturers to stop producing these crappy under display camera's, the punch hole design is the best and they is no problem with looking at it...
Yeah, I see what you're saying for sure. I guess it's how you look at it though. Like if someone couldn't care less about selfie cameras and would prefer just a clean display with no visible camera holes, this is a perfect phone for that person. If this phone was a bit smaller and had a flat display, I'd use it as my main phone for sure.

@@JaredBusch It's the fact that it's basically a Samsung Copy, with little software support, okay screen, okay speakers, etc... For $799 there are so many options with better ecosystems and reliability. I've enjoyed your videos over the years, especially your comedy during the videos. This particular phone is just blah.
I appreciate you continuing to watch my videos, but saying something like "you must be bored" isn't very constructive. Furthermore, accusing ZTE of copying Samsung is like iPhone fanboys accusing every single phone company of copying the iPhone. Do you look at every phone and assume it's a Samsung copy?
ZTE has stated that there will be 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security updates, that's pretty on par with most other brands.
The display isn't "ok" it's a fantastic display, FHD+, new awesome pixel arrangement, 120Hz,360Hz touch sampling, 10 bit colour, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, 1500 nits peak brightness, it's an awesome display, up there with Samsung displays.
It might not be the phone for you, but it's a great phone with new tech while trying to keep prices below the $1000 mark, which means other compromises have to be taken.
These phones you claim have better ecosystems and reliability will also have compromises in other areas, that's just the way it is. Your assessment isn't fair, especially if you haven't reviewed or owned the phone yourself.
