Since the 12th of January 2018, T.F.L. (Transport For London), have introduced a new announcement, sounding 🔈🔉🔊 at every bus stop, when the bus departs the stop...!!! 🚍🚏

I travel on buses quite a lot in Teesside North East of England and I've noticed all bus drivers wave at each other it doesn't matter which company the Bus is from but they do say we are more friendly up the North than down south lol probably because the mortgages and rent are cheaper lol and we are not stressed out as much as them down south lmfao

On the news they said that their is a glitch . They said that it will be fixed . It's really annoying but people should know that the bus will move and they should hold on but it's their anyway to remind them

Health and safety gone mad - the next level! Next they're be telling drivers not to pull away until the automated message finished its message. Must drive you mad hearing that 1000s of times a day lol. How long until there will be messages saying mind the gap/step at every stop

I don't hear them as much when I'm in the drivers cab, as the plastic screen helps keep the sound out! But I can see why the passenger's are annoyed!
The announcement is okay, timing is a little bit off though

In Ireland we have an announcement something similar that says "Please hold on while the bus is moving or coming to a stop".
In Yorkshire, we have something similar, like it could say ‘this is the 163 service to Leeds’ and at every stop, the woman says ‘your next stop is:’ and then wherever it may be
God we need the announcement here in Australia, people are always falling cause they aren’t holding on
that would drive me nuts listening to that all day lol

In Sheffield the announcment system is so slow that halfway through the message saying the next stop youve gone past it

They've had something like that on the new Blackpool trams since about 2014. So nothing new there.

There was another message on some buses like W4 it says “please hold on whiles the bus is moving” which makes more sense

Well, they changed it fast due to public criticism. Now it's better just reminding people to hold on while the bus is moving.
They've since made it sooner, but if it's a stop with one passenger in London, you can get stopped, pick them up and go before the end of the destination name! Maybe the '## to Destination' announcement should announce the moment that the doors are opened, with no delay to make it more effective? I don't know really!
It can cause hearing issues. If I was a bus driver I would be concerned and worried. Still fair play for trying.

They do it in Singapore too...but it seems to have fallen out of use over time. My hunch is that someone might have sued TfL after a fall.
from what i heard from BBC, the announcement plays 5 seconds after the route announcement so i guess one way to solve it is to depart around 6 seconds after the route announcement😂

Its a good idea for passengers safety especially if the driver does an emergency stop quickly . But the timing could be better.

Seldom hear it these days, the Arriva bus on the 121 at Trent Park Golf Course could have used that announcement recently, I boarded the lower deck for Enfield Island Village, before I could sit down, the bus moved off so fast, before I sit down, or hold a handrail, lost my grip and almost fell on the floor, if it wasn’t for the kindness of passengers, why do bus operators employ car get-a-way drivers?, I got off the bus at the next stop, as the driver did not even know what he had done.

i have actually fallen over on a bus before 😂i was just getting up to head to the door to get off and the driver suddenly had to emergency stop (a car pulled out in front) - unfortunately it threw me too hard for me too keep my grip lol

Most bus drivers in Japan will wait the passenger to be seated and then speak "we are departing" in Japanese when the bus ready to move away from the bus stop, and also moving off from a red light. =)
I have always thought that the Japanese have a fantastic public transport system, which is respected by everyone.

We have had this on some of the South Yorkshire busses for about a year and a half now. But it doesn't say any of that. It just says which stop is next and the route number
