their software sucks, the headset only works half the time and you spend mpre time trying to get it working right then actually playing the game. when it worked it was ok but i wouldn’t be able to give pimax my money again
@@bobholmes487 lol really I don't have that problem at all. Turn it on open the software and done. Their software gives you way more options to find tune and adjust the headset for clarity, colors and performance of any headset I have used which is plenty. If you just want to take a headset out of the box, plug it in and use it then yes it's not for you nor is it meant to be. This is a high end enthusiast headset.

great video and followup to your pimax trip. there is a gaping hole in the VR market for Users who just want a PCVR headset, Quest pro is the closest thing to a perfect PCVR headset to me
Really glad you liked it! Quest Pro is actually a good mention but I do hope we see some more variety in the near future though, even in the higher priced segment
I bought the quest 3 after owning only tethered PCVR headset sinse 2017 including the 8kx and the G2. The quest 3 blows them all out of the water and I did not expect that at all. Infact I originally bought the quest 3 for some family fun with mixed reality. I was flip flopping back and forth about getting the aero or the crystal, and even demoed the crystal, but after getting the Q3 there is simply no way I am getting another wired headset. I do have a 4090/7800x3d which allows for som decent visuals in the Q3 though and I am using Virtual desktop at max settings. It was a shocking revalation, the experience as a whole.
If they removed this autonomous mode from the device and removed the cameras and the really bad controller, it would improve the device a lot in addition to making it cheaper.
Solid shout to be honest, I somewhat looked past this option for those already set up with Basestations and controllers and I sadly cannot form a good opinion on that specific headset as I have no experience using one (just yet?) But that could also be an option for those searching for high resolution visuals, a good example of mastering one aspect
Great video! I can't help but fully agree with you on everything you said about crystal. I have to add something though. The idea of using rift-quest like touch controllers was spot on for crystal at least in my personal opinion and experience - yeah, I do have base stations, LH faceplate for crystal and knuckles but the thing is: I'm not using it at all because knuckles are not working very well for DCS with the lack of grip button (and grip sensors are not behaving like button no matter how you set it up). So the only game I use LH tracking, knuckles and vive trackers is VRC, which means it's pretty seldom. Otherwise I'm not happy with their desisions about having same form-factor as older models like 5k, especially with tracking cameras placement - they could've avoided many problems by adopting new form factor. They say that this is because they wanted to make it "compatible" for new 12k when it will be ready, but well they certainly did a very big mistake with that. And so-called AIO mode - I never ever switched to that at all. I do use "infinite power" mod with second cable and QC adapter, thus battery is not a problem for me but this should've been avoided altogether.
Thank you. I have been one of the HP G2 VR's that would like to upgrade but for the reasons you talk about. BIG one is the Battery. Add on the Motion wall mounted tracking units Next. Why? Like you say Make a Headset the PC people want? The Quest # (add number here) has the "run arounds" People covered no reason to think Pimax will crack that egg. Shite or Get Off The Pot Pimax dump all the Crap put tracking in the dang thing GOD knows you love making things BIGGER and fill the Dang Void. If I was Big Screen VR I would do just that. Take my small unit add head tracking OR figure a way to get Tobii Eye Tracking or Track IR to work with my unit and MOP the F up.
Sadly the crystal is the only way to go for sim racing and flying. And a for a year now there is still nothing that can replace it. The xr4 is to expensive and the Somnium has a lot of problems to solve, also expensive and already a year to late. I do simracing about 4 hours daily and have never swapped the battery in almost a year. I take all the extra's for that and simply don't use it. Like in my smartphone, tablet, tv, car, camera, and so..
It is indeed almost the only viable option for a high resolution sim experience, hence why I would love to see more headsets in the near future... pls Valve give me something good ;-;

No standalone, batteries,and expensive processors a fan blowing in your face and native SteamVR or at least a not problematic softaware and it could be the best VR headset right now. No competition. I just want a plug and play device not fix their software while paying top price
100% i would of paid same price for the 120hz high res glass lens and no extra crap.I would buy a quest 3 for the other wireless games pimax needs to be a sim king and not for everyone. @@kangjames2492Nothing with vr is needed its a vr headset its not food. why do you think people use 180hz + monitors in iracing?. its not the point if your eyes can't see the difference i can, and pimax said the headset will have 160hz. the 12k will have 200hz They can't get 160hz working on the crystal with way less resolution.
@@sean.d7171 No doubt, but your comment is way out context. We were talking about vr only and not what's needed to sustain life. Pimax is pushing the envelope for pc vr and I commend them for it. I'm sure they are trying, but if it's not ready or acceptable then why push it out. We can only hope that the 12k have 200 hz but I doubt it. They have mastered being the best PC vr headset. They have mastered clarity and are un matched in the pc vr space. The software is great and not buggy. You are not qualified to be so critical, and you don't even own the headset. You are incorrect on many of your opinions.
Not gonna lie, mate, you sound awfully butthurt for reacting like this, because of someone's oppinion. Perhaps you regret buying a 1.5k headset that acts like a shiny but mediocre brick on your face? I wouldn't know. But considering you are basically replying to every comment trying to pull it out of the gutter of someone's OPINION, I'd say you are pretty biased and triggered, that someone doesn't like the headset you want to give praise to.
