RIP to a legend. Sadly another Jazz great taken from us. I’ve seen your transcription recommended to me last year but never bothered learning it now I think I’ll take the time to learn this solo just for Barry
Beautiful transcription-- what software are you using to overlay the sheet music over the video? You've notated Bar 28 as F7 instead Am7b5-D7 as in the original chart. Any reason? I think I hear Barry playing notes from D7, which is the dominant of the next chord (Gm).
Sounds more like an F9 to me on the first beat of the bar but I'm.not using headphones. Maybe he plays D7 in the second half or maybe he just plays D7 notes and stays on F7 I don't have headphone on so can't say for sure
@@mattdawswell32 yeah but we're talking about what Barry Harris is playing not the real book or chat baker and its an F9 tye first chord cause there's a 9th (G) in it. Its the second part of the chord where the original poster here is hearing D7 notes. D7 is sorta the same as F#dim7 though because the D is commonly played over and F#dim7 its sorta like a D7b9 It's one of the two because it's leading to Gm7 in the next bar. I don't have the headphones right now to check which but it doesn't really matter I guess since the sound is almost the same Also Am7b5 shares many notes from F9
@@mattdawswell32 well the quality of that chord sounds like an F9 to me not an Am7b5. Even without headphones it seems clearly that. However it makes more "sense" that the previous chord chord is Cm7 instead of Eb but I can't really rely with that one because Eb6 is the same as Cm7 so if the bass is barely hearable impossible to tell. Maybe that one is more clear with headphones but I'm 90% sure the first chord is F9 so don't know why you hear Am7b5
Thanks a lot for this. Definitely going to work out on guitar, BH has a unique take on minor ii-v-i, obviously this tune uses that movement quite often so really looking forward to seeing how he implements those lines.
I love how you've laid your transcriptions out and the way the measures are highlighted in yellow as they're played. Do you have special software you use to help sync the visual with the soundfile?
Yes. Actually I'm using "Guitar Pro" as my scoring tool. I just "played" the score inside the Guitar Pro software which handle the highlighting of the progress. I captured that into a video file, and embedded it into the original video.
Nice work from Legenda, but these notes, what did you write? :) The chords are school, not even the solo is written correctly ... he goes to the party when the children start ..

@@nezkeys79 Bar 28 goes F7 F#dim7. It says Am7b5 D7 in the real book but you can hear the former in recordings by Chet Baker etc.

El fraseo de ese hombre es sabiduria absoluta
the progress meter being like a quarter of a second offset from the actual time is bothering me way more than it should lmao

Genial !
Muchas Gracias !
