Me too!! I've seen Oregon live every time in/near L.A. and the solo LPs and others. You are a master of Harmony and improvisation!

Yes, Paul should be doing an interview talking about himself and being hailed for some of the sweetest and most exciting reed playing and composing of the last several decades. He is unmistakable on his instrument and always plays what it seems the music was written for. Yes, a legend.

Beautifully said. I have LOVED his playing since discovering him at age 14 (that's 34 years old!) and have collected a lot of albums he's on including most of Oregon's albums. Got to meet him backstage at a German jazz festival at the end of 2016 through a mutual musician friend. What a blessing. And what a blessing his melodic excursions on his woodwind instruments has been in my life. Thank U Paul!

Is this a preview of what’s to come, or the actual interview talking about Jaco? If it’s the latter.... it’s not even close to scratching the surface.

Wow never knew they had a run in..I understand that Paul McCandless does not play in Oregon anymore because of physicality issues of playing Reed istruments ..is this true ?

@@SamoSalamonMusic The last time I saw Oregon was they did the recording at Yoshi night club restaurant in Oakland CA. It was my birthday and I saw 3 shows. They were breath taking.Ive been following them ever since there inception. First time seeing them was when them came back to perform with Trilok Gurtu at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. I really don't know if they will ever perform again due to there locations and their personal interest.I think Glenn Moore left to pursue his own interests. But I'm glad that Maestro Ralph Towner has released new music..thank you for this current post .Greatly appreciated.

Oregon will unfortunately never play live again... Final concerts were in 2017, if I am not mistaken. Paul's oboe playing is essential to so much of the group's material and sadly he is not able to play oboe anymore (at least live in concert) because of the very high demands that instrument has on the embouchure. Paul still plays soprano sax and still performs on that instrument (on small live dates and recording sessions) occassionally in California. This is what I understood from musician friends in CA. Heroes/legends are getting older... This is a fact we have to live it.
Thank you Samo for your beautiful channel with tons of great interviews! I keep coming back. Blessings from Germany.

@@SWH2012 yeah - I played with Paul a couple of years and it was getting harder and harder for him to play the oboe... Grüsse zurück nach Deutschland :)
