@@duncanthompson4232 No it's not always a good idea, but aside from not being in a problematic situation to begin with the alternatives also will not always be great ideas. A handful of options is always good for adapting to any given situation. Packing a security vest like packing a hat and face coverings creates another option.
Murphy's 7th Law of Combat Operations: Try to look unimportant the enemy maybe low on ammo and won't want to waste a bullet. I would think a regular unmarked reflective vest would give you some cover among the loonies cause you could claim you're supporting the yellow vests.

Stumbled upon this channel by searching for an Amazon tool review and I ended up subscribing for the all around general life wisdom and awesomeness of this channel.
The only concern I have with the security vest is it also marks you as a target for the rioters to attack. I guess just use your best judgement and try to read the situation as best you can.
glad someone said it my companies C.E.O. put out a announcement to remove your uniform when not working to keep us safe. they think the uniform will cause more harm then good however the C.E.O. did state that keeping your badge and travel papers with your insurance and registration will help in a traffic stop or police road block

Appreciate your comments on the nuance between badged bullies and cops. My father used to call the former 'old pennies' (dirty coppers... he was from Brooklyn), but he would never have been in favor of eliminating the institution. It's important to note the distinction, acknowledge the problems while *at the same time* celebrating the virtues, if there is to be any progress.
Given NY Crime was down with Police on Strike, I don´t get that.
the Police I grew up with (Leading Parades, handng out High Visabilety gear to first Graders, teaching trafic safty in 3rd Grade and allways available for Directions, keeping trafic safe and deescalating ) have been worth every peny but appear to have litle in common with their US equivalent.

I value and appreciate your point of view alot. Most people, heck I'd assume almost 98% of people in the world listen to argue and don't listen to understand. I used to do that until about a year ago a switch just flipped in my head and I can now see the world isn't how I thought it was.
I used to be one of those people who'd go tooth and nail trying to fight with anybody who said anything negative about our country. But now i listen to their experiences and what makes them feel this way, and I truly understand the point of view of the people who say America was never great, and honestly I agree with them now.
Only when every person in this country is treated as equal in every way possible will this country truly be great. There is a quote from a poem that explains this better than I can put into words. "Let America be America again--The land that never has been yet--and yet must be--The land where every man is free." That is part of a very great and eye opening poem called Let America Be America Again by Langston Hughes.
I hope I'm not making this too long, and I hope anyone who reads this will make a life decision to start listening to understand and not to argue, both sides are guilty of it, but right now one side is hurting with all of their hearts and every single person that just ignores the blatant injustices or makes excuses as to how "Racism isn't a big deal" just comes off as a desperate attempt to silence and cover up the beaten. (If you get called a racist it's most likely because you did something along those lines or worse)
Picture this if you would, you're favorite Nascar driver puts a pro 2nd amendment advertisement on his car and the left demands he knock it off and just drive with McDonald's or something. So he gets fired because of it, then the 2nd amendment supporters go out and protest and get mocked and made fun of in the media and by your president who is supposed to have your best interest, then a small group of people who aren't even from your protest start vandalizing and destroying property and your entire cause gets covered up because of it. This is what has been happening to the BLM movement.
Given equality for all is much more important than the 2A. Don't get it twisted I'm a die hard "gun nut". But if someone is not being treated equally because the color of their skin or their gender that is far worse than not having a gun.
This is the only thing I agree with the democrats on, and absolutely 100% disagree with Republicans on. Even though I'm a conservative, although I guess this might make me a right leaning libertarian I honestly don't know.

This is the new QVC.
In the military we used to put the ruck sack on our front when entering a helicopter. Otherwise you would be leaning way forward and that is not very comfortable. Also the using the back pack for defense is important and we used the snap strap to disengage the straps and swing it in front of us. Just some other food for thought. Love the video's keep it up.

Cody, you have excellent taste in kit. If at all possible make sure you have a lifestraw or water filtration or purification system of some kind.
I have been working on something I call a "screech ball" basically a baseball sized clear lexan sphere equipped with very bright RGB and Infrared LEDs, 150dB acoustic beat frequency waler, a gimbal and motor and as much Li Ion battery as I can cram in there. It's more than a distraction device, it dazzles, it jams night vision, makes hearing, communicating and thought nearly impossible. And it randomly zips around so its tough to capture. If you are being chased by a crowd at night you could activate its 3-5 second timer and toss it behind you in an alley...should buy you a fair amount of time. Non lethal, but pretty effective.

A good idea is to look for alternative routs home that are not on GPS. Power lines, pipe lines and rails are great for getting around crowds and road blocks. Check google maps looking for power lines and other clear lines in woods for ways to get around.
There is a simple trick to stop low light cameras from getting a good picture of you by using IR LED's.

Big love from New Zealand. I know I can't carry half the things you show in that belt. But having one of those belts all stocked up with supplies and tools next to my bed or in my car incase of the next big earthquake would actually be a really good idea. Really do need an emergency kit sorted at home, I know a natural disaster is a bit different to a riot, but the idea still holds.

This past June I was at fault in a car accident. I totalled my truck, sadly. The City Officer that responded to my incident was soft-spoken, polite, and VERY professional. I responded in kind. The Officer told me that my good attitude was the reason he did not cite me. My VERY first words to other driver were: "Are you okay?" I was extremely fortunate that afternoon. I got not just a good cop, but a GREAT cop!
The last 30 seconds is the best part of the whole message.

I think its important to understand the position of the people protesting right now in this country. You should look past a couple of isolated instances like a Target being burned down and see the actually point of the protests. Not every protest is violent, don't believe everything you see in the media and use it to disavow this movement. You shouldn't value a Wendy's more than you value the innocent man who was murdered outside of it.
There is a line in every aspect of life between peace and violent action. We are so extraordinarily close to reaching that point. Ladies and gentlemen, prepare yourself like your next sunrise might be the most important one if your life.

I care about actions against police brutality I’m not defending any crooked cops or supporting the fact of rioting I agree with peaceful protest not looting and destroying people’s livelihood that people have worked there whole life for what they had taken from them in seconds. I believe there needs to be a longer and more thorough education and mental evaluation on law enforcement officers.
Social justice is not equal justice. What these protestors and rioters/ looters have in common is the mistaken belief that cops are hunting black people. It just is not true. Cops, like any group, are reflective of society. There will always be bad cops, and they must be dealt with when they are discovered. Charges for George Floyd's killer(s) are entirely appropriate, and a conviction would be ideal. Policing needs some reforms in some places, and incentives are the best means towards that end. Cutting budgets will have the opposite effect. We need more cops and more/better training! But the rioting and looting is evil! Unfortunately, the message of the protesters has been drowned out by the actions of the rioters and looters.
The looting and burning is wrong!! But it gets attention!! And if your Business is caught in the middle? Any non lethal force that would stop it is fine with me!!

The security vest is quite a good idea, depending on the scenario.
The most important thing in life is your friends and family
family first, the Good Lord second, an AR third then maybe room for friends
My father did emergency response for the Air Force back in the 1970s. I did 13 years of military service and was involved in a number of disaster / humanitarian emergency response. Some man made some natural. The point to that statement is this. When it comes right down to it, the government's response is always the same. When things get too hot, they fallback, regroup, and then do their response afterwards. In the middle of the emergency, you can't really expect the government to save the day.
And this applies regardless of the emergency. Invaders defeat you in battle? You fall back, regroup, and try to assault with a larger force. Hurricane hitting your are?. You stop all response, wait out the storm, and hit the post response with a larger force. Rioters over whelming your riot control measures? You fall back, wait for more support, and then respond with more effort.
If you are in an area (IE city) that is suffering from riots, your best bet is to stay out of it. If you can't leave safely, to secure and fortify where you are at.
The last thing you want to do is try to leave an area when anarchy is the rule of the day. There is a reason why people who treat their home / family preparation and emergency response seriously, don't live in cities. Too many people living too close together lead to bad things happening. Mob mentality sends all rational thought out the door. You either do what you have to or you become the next victim. But assuming you can have a rational conversation with someone or people in a mob frenzy is how you end up either in the hospital or morgue.
And on a side note, if you are dealing with city wide riots, you should assume travel is being restricted for one reason or another. You shouldn't expect public transportation to be functional or operational. If you are going to evacuate the area, it is most likely going to be either by bicycle or foot. And that is assuming you and your party are healthy enough to evacuate. People who are very young or very old will not be able to travel without full support. People with medical conditions aren't going to be able to leave on their own either. And although basically the same category, people who are over weight are going to have problems to. The only people who can realistically evacuate on their own are healthy people between the ages of 10s - 40ish. Below 10 and they can't carry weight for long distances. Over 40 and their health is likely not good enough to travel on foot. There is a reason why the nation life expectancy for men and women in the 1920s was low 50s. If you really want to know a scary statistic, due to the Spanish Flu and World War 1, the life expectancy for a male in the US in 1918 was only 36. But in 1919 it jumped back up to the mid 50s. The point to that is that the very young and the older population in the US simply can't endure long periods of physical activity. And without medical care on point, you aren't getting the treatment you need to survive the ordeal.

The problem with "good officers" is the "go along to get along" culture that exists in organizations where you need to depend on your peers in order to function in your job. If a good cop speaks out, he or she will get ostracized or worse be put in danger for not sticking up for fellow cops that may be bad actors. Police can't police themselves and maintain integrity, it's not in their best interests to do so.
To say that we need a system or systems in place to address these kinds of issues isn't about creating a system where none exists, it's about changing the system that already exists but is broken. Because it is a system which allows the lesser demons of our nature to prevail instead of the better angels. Where little to no accountability exists, it is natural for bad things to go unchecked and multiply.
Police need support, but not in the form of more weapons and lethal practices. They need support in order to cope with the stresses of the job, community outreach to strengthen mutual understanding between the police and the communities they are there to serve, and support with better training in how to handle situations in a Deescalation manner in stead of an Escalation of force.
Police need to be held accountable as much as ANY citizen, especially the ones they serve. But they also need to be provided all the training and corrective systems we can give them in order for them to serve the public in a responsible way that respects the public.
I carry 4 high viz jackets, a local council one (in England at least that's as damn close to access all areas ticket in my county as you can get), a security one, a maintenance one (people dotn question you if you go through doors) and an energy board one you can BS your way through anywhere

Bad apples can spoil the barrel. Just because your interactions, or even your locality, has fine police doesn't mean other localities haven't ended up rotten to the core.
@@woody870 In what reality do you live in? With great power comes great responsibility. Cops are angry that society is now demanding that they are held, at bare minimum, to the same standards as everyone else.
When I see good cops arresting bad cops on the spot then I will believe that there are good cops. Most of the time the supposed good cops either standby or worse participate. There were hundreds of videos of the last week's of cops abusing protestors, and yes I mean protesters not talking about the looters or rioters. I never see a good cop run up to a bad cop breaking the law and tackle him or arrest him on the spot it never happens. imagine during the George Floyd video if that Asian cop had instead turned around and tackled that murderous cop instead of just standing there. When I start seeing videos like that then we can talk about good cops. Right now I view cops like tumors. There are cancerous tumors and there are benign tumors, I'm not aware of any good tumors.
The Vest is a good idea. I carry a EMR labeled vest so I would be less of a target and still hold some authority. Yes I am a licensed EMR so that helps.

Honestly not really the cops fault. Every state uses privately owned prisons that charge the state per prisoner but fine the state more if they don't have enough inmates to run the prison off the charges so the state government to avoid the higher charges push for the cops to arrest more people. Fix the government and you fix the police system.
I really appreciate the fact that there are very very few political comments in the comment section here. This man has created a fan base who genuinely care about themselves and their beliefs first, and believe in it well enough to not force it upon other people.

One thing to be aware of: The soft armor is a good idea and its something I'll consider adding to my kit. That said, be sure to check your local laws regarding it. For instance, in my state, wearing body armor when arrested for a felony or violent act instantly pumps the charge to a class 4 felony. As Wranglerstar says, there are a lot of innocent people in prison--just because you're law abiding doesn't mean you can't get a trumped charge or break the law unknowingly. Weigh your risks.
On a personal note, I support the BLM movement. I think this is a bad time for a riots to happen given the pandemic, but with the militarization of police and the spread of the 'warriorcop', as Wranglerstar puts it, something was bound to break eventually. I'll stand by a police force that is reasonable, but its a fantasy to imagine that problem cops haven't been a spreading problem for a while now. A bad apple in a position of power within its barrel can corrupt the barrel, and that is what we've been seeing. In my area we've had a few protests, but things are pretty mellow here--the police force hasn't shown itself to be a bad barrel and they are rewarded by a cooperative and chill populace.
Do I support riots? I neither support nor decry them. Riots are the language of the ignored, and we have ignored the plights of the trampled within this country for a long time. Its bad timing, but we were either going to have a zeitgeist of reform or riots. Our society chose to ignore its problems until we had riots. Hopefully the riots will be a wake-up call to kick off reforms, otherwise there will be more riots whether you think they're justified or not.

I don’t feel bad for “good” officers that put up with “bad” and do nothing. I also have nothing against police except for the fact that they have a monopoly on “public safety” and do more “law enforcement” than anything else, protectors of the state and the revenue stream.

Cutting assaults are becoming more common. Not saying anything made from cut-resistent cloth would perfectly protect, but a bad cut is better than a quick bleed out.
