    Ten days ago, I got this little thing delivered to me, after having it suggested on Amazon and deciding to order it. My area is sewing and embroidery so I decided to try something a little bit different. I didn't know what I was getting myself into because only 2 days later, I ordered 3 more kits. I've just started to assemble the last of my kits and loving every minute of it. I also got some acrylic paint markers to add some colour to them and the whole process is very calming.
    When you broke the little piece, I felt that. I could see the pain, if that's possible.
    I'm working on ROKR Romantic Carousel, if you want to have a look at it, I think it's really cute :)
    Thanks for posting your assembly videos. Have a wonderful day :)

      It's likely you would have already tried everything I mention here. Do the gears move at all or are they bound? Have you tried removing as many gears as possible to get down to the central large gear, C8. Removing the pair (C8,P5) can be a bit frustrating, but you may have to get down to the core of the music box to see if there are an obstructions there. As a last resort you could start removing parts until it started running.

      There are threads on the post on the top of P1 and threads inside of P5. The two pieces are connect at the threads, see the end of section 6. Can you tell if the threads have been stripped on either piece? If the thread are still there does the post on P1 turn after winding the music box sound maker.

    Well thanks for the video -- at least now we know there's something wrong with our kit since at 46:01 our pin will not actually fit inside the ball to flush. We're afraid to force it or it might break but the hole is just not big enough for the end to sink in like the others did. You did it with your hands -- we're pushing hard on a steel table (like the instructions show) and it will not go. Hopefully it doesn't matter. :(

    • @rgauck
      @rgauck  2 роки тому +2

      One thing you could try is to wrap a small amount of double sided tape around the pin. That should hold the ball in place. It did not take much effort to push the pin into the ball with the kit I had.

    When you put on the last piece of section 6, twisting the gear onto the box, is the gear somewhat leaning more towards the box and almost touching it on one side? I think I may of messed up along the way or something because it seems to almost scrap the box when it turns. I don’t want to continue as I’m worried it would break pieces!

    • @rgauck

      The gear, c8, is nearly flat and basically parallel to d4.
      Some things you might consider checking.
      Section 1: Verify p1 and b8 are flat against each other. Verify verify a6 and b8 are parallel, this is where I had an issue. When I installed a7, one side of b8 would be lifted away from a6. I had to sand it a bit.
      Section 4: Verify there are no gaps between p5 and c8.

    Hi Robert, i dont know if youre still answering questions but, Im having trouble with part D1. It seems like it is supposed to rotate independantly from part B9/C8 but it rotates at the same rate and doesnt spin gear c. I can hold part D1 in place to spin gear c but it wont do it on its own. Is there a way to fix this?
    Im also having trouble with part C8 as it is tilted on the music box and gets caught on the platform below iy

    • @rgauck
      @rgauck  4 місяці тому

      D1 should turn independently of B9/C8. Gear c touches the cogs on the inside of E7 (see section 7). Gear c will rotate as is turns with B9. Then gear c causes D1 to rotate. If C8 is not level the cogs will not mesh properly. I had to make some sanding adjustment to A7 in section 1. One of the A7's would cause the music box to be tilted. This caused missalignment issues. If this doesn't help let me know.

    I just finished building this. I LOVE it but can't get it to keep spinning for the life of me. Taken apart and rebuilt it about 4 times now lol. It spins halfway around, but starts getting stuck on the second half of the spin. It almost seems like the threading is a little crooked, not sure what else i can do 🤷🏻‍♂️ still a beautiful sight though!

    • @rgauck
      @rgauck  Рік тому

      When I built this, I had an issue with one of the A7's in Section 1. The A7 would slightly lift B8 and cause the upper gears to not be level. The combined parts P3, P5 and C8 in Section 4 should easily turn onto P1 from section 1. Be sure to install P16 in Section 3. If that does not help let me know. If you would like to send a photo please go to ua-cam.com/users/rgauckabout to get my email address.

      Hopefully you installed part P16. Without that part being installed it would be very difficult to get it apart. Mine shipped with an extra P11. I remove enough parts so I have good access to gear C8. Toward the inside of C8 are access ports. You should be able to see the ring of holes on P16 through these ports. I put P11 into a hole on P16 then I turn gear C8 clock wise. According to the directions it will only turn about 30 degrees per attempt. C8 can be removed but it takes a little while.
      For a diagram see the drawings just before section 7 in the assembly instructions.
      I am planning on recording another video this weekend. I will also record how I disassemble these parts.
      I also made a tool out of a paper clip that makes it a lot faster and easier to remove C8, provided P16 is installed.

      There is a gear, C11, placed towards the bottom of P12 at around 51:20. That gear, C11, is assembled in section 6. C11 turns against D1 which is assembled at the end of section 4. Check the distances with the measuring tool, which is assembled towards the end of section 6. This will make sure the gears mesh properly.

      The next item to check is to make sure gear C11 meshes with E7. E7 is assembled in section 7 and installed in section 10. The rotation starts at the music maker and is transferred to C8 and B9 via P5. As B9 rotates P11 has gear C11 towards the bottom which rotates between D1 and E7, with E7 being fixed in place, and D1 is a free spinning gear.

      I discovered a7 would lift b8 slightly in section 1. In my case this was causing c8 to not be level. I had to sand a7 slightly so it would keep b8 aligned properly, but not lift it.

    Music box section 4 two questions i cant figure out from video.
    B6-A B6-B and B6 - C SAYS THERE IS SUPPOSE TO BE A LINE ON B6-C. I SEE SOMETHING THAT LOOKS LIKE A SMUDGE. I CAN,T UNDERSTAND THE ALIMENT GAUGE, LOOK THE SAME.
    HOW IMPORTANT IS THE SMALL DOT ON BOTTOM OF BEAD? CANT SEE THEM ON SMALL BEADS,
    THANKS BILL

      I took mine apart to investigate. I see a line towards the bottom of parts B4, B5 and B7. Moving up the part from the bottom the line is near the first step out. The bottom of part B6-c should be at this line. To be honest I had trouble on the smaller beads as well. I didn't worry to much about it.

    i am in section 6 WHERE INSERTED P12 INTO PART A. MINE WENT IN CROOKED AND WHEN I TRIED TO STRAIGHTEN I BROKE C10. I HAVE A SPARE . ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO INSERT PINS INTO P/6.
    YOUR VIDEO ARE GREAT

    • @rgauck
      @rgauck  Рік тому

      Keep T1 reasonably level. T1 should give you more surface area to press part "a" into place on P12. You could also try freezing P12 which will make it shrink a tiny bit which may make it easier to slide onto P12. Should C10 brake again, I can send you may spare. You can find my email address on the about page here ua-cam.com/users/rgauckabout .

      does it matter what side o P6 goes into the hole first.?

    • @rgauck
      @rgauck  Рік тому

      If I remember correctly P6 has a slight bevel. I would try to insert P6, from what would be the top of the other piece, with the nearly imperceptible smaller end down.

    please help I put the metal gasket before starting to form it and now I can't get it out, how can I get it out? :(

    • @rgauck
      @rgauck  2 роки тому

      Oh my, Hopefully you installed P16 as well. If you did see this video for a couple of methods to remove the metal piece, P5. ua-cam.com/video/G9rsAe97uCk/v-deo.html
      If you did not install P16, you may be able to use a small pair of pliers to stop the spindle from turning so you can remove P5.
      If this did not help please let me know I will disassemble mine and see if I can determine other suggestions.

    This old machine designer says great little kit, takes patience...! Taping shafts to accept beads is frustrating, built kit without smaller beads, added them later with a dab of hot glue. When finished added glue to keep main plates from springing apart. Also glued superstructure....wobbly! Now to find a dust cover.....

      I did not give hot glue a thought. I like it.
