@@everydayjackji651 Duo Lingo is free. And probably is the best way to learn new language without feeling it as a burden. It is more like a game on language (vocabulary and structure)
You immediately recognized that the letters on the title in the video was not Korean letters. It's Chinese, in fact. Before a Korean King commanded research and invented the Korean letters based on the research, Koreans used Chinese. But it was very hard for common people to learn so majority remained illiterate while only the nobles who can afford to study can read. FYI: to be able to read Chinese, you have to memorize at least 1,000 characters. There are simplified Chinese now, but they're still hard to memorize. Korean letters are much simpler.
Finally a reactioner who doesn't just say "i should learn korean" and then never tries. Props for actually studying and trying to learn the language of the music you listen and react to! :)
I saw an interview with Suga talking about this song and the executioner at the end of the video is the butcher from the beginning. Suga stops and looks at him and they have an understanding to work together to take down the tyrant king. I like the end when Suga is tied up and bobbing his head and he stops for a second to sing Daechwita and you see a grin on his face almost saying, "i'm about to surprise this king and take him down." Love it!
The rice chest line refers to crown prince sado of The joseon dynasty (an old kingdom in now Korea) whose father the king, sentenced him to death by putting him into a rice chest for 8 days until he died of starvation. The prince suffered from severe mental health which is what links the comment to the video as the old August D being portrayed as a mad king. The prince murdered many of his servants and eunuchs which is why he was killed in the end. Clever links in his lyrics to his countries history
The video is about contemporary age/new Suga killing his old self/king. Moving on from his old self. Btw the idea of this video & everything was mostly his idea. You might want to check out his new mixtape D-2, almost all of it is self produced & self written.
The video was shot at a filming site for Korean historical dramas and movies. The name of the site is Daejanggeum Park, owned by one of the main broadcasting companies in SK i.e. MBC. So, the palace, the market place and the prison (where Suga was tied and surrounded by containers of burning woods) are replicas of buildings that existed during the Joseon Dynasty era. Suga was very detailed in the selection of props (like the scar, the gun, the sword, costumes etc.) and he came up with the story line. Suga explained that the MV didn't cost him much (well, to a world superstar like him 😉 ) since he used existing buildings and the extras were Big Hit staff and dancers 😅. I think only the executioner is a profesional actor. Suga got a lot of love and support from Big Hit and BTS family 😊
Thanks for sharing all this info. I was wondering where this music video was shot. Now I know. And the Director of Kingdom was involved too. No wonder it has real period drama vibes. I love watching Korean period dramas BTW, so this music video was a real treat for me. Once, the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore had a special exhibition about the Joseon period & I spent hours visiting it & looking at everything that was exhibited & just learning about what life was like in Joseon. Very interesting stuff to me!

This was Agust D, the solo artist ( that is why there was no Bighit intro logo, the mixtapes by BTS are done on their own, with their own money, and usually put on SoundCloud and Spotify for free), then there is Suga, who is the performer with BTS, then there is Min Yoongi, the man. Perfection, all rolled into one !
Wait til you find out about the king Gwang Hae he's referring to (guy he's symbolizing). 광해 was known to be the most evil crazy king in Korean history. He was a musician and an artist himself but definitely had some side where he damn near killed half of the people in the palace. His MV and the historical reference of classicism, ego, pride and the power. Damn it's crazyyyyy. Glad you guys were able to catch his feelsss
There is a nice guy from SK who explains what this video means here on YT. You can learn a lot. I think this video bei AGUST D is amazing, it has everything: style, beauty, tension, exotic, erotic vibes, and who thought that he was such a great rapper! The lyrics are meaningful, he is a helluva dancer and it also has this heartbreaking message, because the real Min Yoon-Gi is dealing with many problems, as I read, like many many young folks in SK, too much pressure, too many young people with depression and a high suicide rate. Get more into it and you will be surprised. I also loved how it has blown you three away...
Finally! It took you guys long enough to react to this. Congratulations on your learning progress. Good for you 😊 I'm surprised you guys didn't speak about his rapping skills. But glad you loved it.
Suga aka *AgustD THE KING* 👑 IS BAAAACK !!!!!! 😱😱🔥🔥🔥🔥 he produced and wrote the lirycs enterely for this mixtape in the same way that the previous one. By the way, I also found out that he's a descendant of Korean royalty, specifically from several generations of Empresses. 🙇♀️🙇♀️🙇♀️🙇♀️
I had to look at theory on this mv to fully understand it. But seeing suga in that korean garb was worth the price of admission. And this song was workout playlist worthy. Every member of Bts keeps us guessing. Enjoyed it.👍👏👏👏
I've been waiting over a week for your reaction... And then you upload on the one day I don't check YT! Well done on DD's Hangul learning. It's so satisfying when you start being able to read Korean.
Love this... for me, it’s the best of 2020 so far. The lyrics are fire and this music track cannot be beat IMO. The gong and the traditional instruments fused with trap and hip hop create such a killer vibe and mood! Then there’s this video production which is just sick and adds so much visual power. It is the total package and it’s raw and artistic to boot.
I am LOVING this reaction! I see y’all getting IN to this song and at the end? SILENCE! Y’all speechless! And the dude he ran into was Jin, Suga’s (Agust D, Yoongi, whatever) bandmate in BTS.
Yeessss look at Dame learning Hangul! Good job bro, respect. I’ve been trying for years and I can read pretty much I just need to be able to learn more vocab and learn sentence structure
So excited that you're learning Hangeul!! That's so 대박!!! The W's are hard because there are a few different ways to write them... Fighting! FYI this word is written in English with a w, but it's actually silent.. so daechwiita is pronounced "deh-chi-ta".
Oof yeah Korean can be hard, I'm also learning. Also I really hope you react to all the mixtape, your reaction was the one I've been waiting the most for.
Also to help Dame out with the Hangul, here are the characters to be able to read Daechwita in Korean. You were right about the 대 part being pronounced like “dae” And the next character has combined vowels ㅜ “u” and the vowel l “i/e” And then those vowels are combined with the consonant ㅊ which is similar to the “ch” sound in English. So the full character would look like 취 And would be pronounced like “ch-u-e” or “chwi” Lastly, the hard consonant ㅌ is like the English letter “T” and it is paired with the vowel ㅏ that is pronounced “ah” So the last character would be 타 and said like “tah” So Dae-chwi-ta. 🙂
Suga is King! Thanks for your commentaries! I also am learning Korean via an app. Been studying for a year now. I study 30mins a day. I’m not good with the pronunciation but I can translate some! Keep at it I’m proud for your efforts!
Wish you well on your journey to learning hangul and korean

Agust D is Suga uncensored. It's his raw self.
I’m so impressed that you’re actually learning Korean! Good luck on your education and thank you for your interest in our native language!
The 'w' isn't silent. Its there. U just have to listen carefully :).
You guys are so dope, thanks for the fine reaction. I really enjoyed it.
I’m with you Dame. I’m always excited when I read something and it’s actually what it is. Keep going! 화이팅!
Oof yeah Korean can be hard, I'm also learning.
Also I really hope you react to all the mixtape, your reaction was the one I've been waiting the most for.
Also to help Dame out with the Hangul, here are the characters to be able to read Daechwita in Korean.
You were right about the 대 part being pronounced like “dae”
And the next character has combined vowels ㅜ “u”
and the vowel l “i/e”
And then those vowels are combined with the consonant ㅊ which is similar to the “ch” sound in English. So the full character would look like 취
And would be pronounced like “ch-u-e” or “chwi”
Lastly, the hard consonant ㅌ is like the English letter “T” and it is paired with the vowel ㅏ that is pronounced “ah”
So the last character would be 타 and said like “tah”
So Dae-chwi-ta. 🙂
Amazing explanation!! 👍 couldn't of done it better myself.
한글 공부하는 거 너무 기특하다 멋있어..
