Both. I have the base M1 Studio Max, and an M1 Pro MacBook Pro 14 (16GB/1TB) for travel and sidecar through universal control. The MBP 14 really is easier to travel with. They're both excellent performers, which is good because my budget dictates that I won't be upgrading soon.

I find myself in a similar situation. Due to MacStudio, I have to bring along a keyboard and mouse. I make do by using the hotel TV as a monitor, LOL. However, it does restrict my productivity while traveling, so I'm considering purchasing an M3 MacBook Pro. Your review was informative and aided in my decision-making process.
Great Video, but UGH! I want to trade in my 2019 MacBook Pro for the new Pro, but you give compelling argument to getting the Studio. I think I need to ask for a raise. I guess my biggest issue is that without the laptop, mobility is extremely limited. I'm trying to think of the last time I took my MacBook anywhere with me, and it's been a while. I guess I'm just afraid that if I go with the studio, I won't have the portability when I need it (although it's super rare). Thanks for the video!
Great thoughts! Yeah, while the Mac Studio makes an Apple desktop more portable than ever it also requires you to have a display at the location you are moving it to. In that case MacBook is really nice for on the road and then when you're at work/home you can have accessories to connect to.
Love this video! So well done and very helpful :) I’m a total laptop person. Though I appreciate the larger screens on desktop computers especially when I’m doing Graphic Design.

I actually have the M1 Max Mac Studio, have close connections that use the M1 Max MacBook Pro and the M2 Max MacBook Pro, and if you notice the date of the video release it was before you could even purchase the new M3 Max Mac Studio (unless you're a mega UA-camr with direct connection to apple). This is not meant to be a review but a comparison based on specs/pricing and my personal opinion.

@@austinbrady "MacBook Pro M3 Max vs Mac Studio M1 Max" without further clarification leads to believe you got the actual machine and that you are going to compare them. A better title would have been "My opinion on the just announced M3 Max vs my Actual M1 Mac Studio Max" But of course that would not have given you the same amount of views, that at the end of the day is what you are after. Hence my comment that still stands. I am glad I downloaded your video and saw what you were trying to pull. If you want to build a channel, start with honesty. It will be slower but more stable.

Thanks for sharing your opinion and I hope you'll continue to give your feedback on future videos.
There is no „Terrabyte“ (no soil or earth aka terra), but „Terabyte“🙂 Only profis by an Apple monitor. Third party monitor is more affordable. Desktop (mounted under the table) is always much better, because of sustained cooling solution! No question at all! Laptops are for flexing mostly😉
Are you a laptop or desktop type of person?
Definitely laptop
Both for different reasons!
Desktop!

I don’t need a laptop. I want to get the M3 Studio Max or Ultra when it becomes available.
2:56 You show 100GB/S bus speed on the 16 core Max MBP. This is still 400GB/S in that configuration.
That's what I was thinking. Thanks for pointing that out. Is bandwidth as important as GPU cores? What's the difference?
Good to know 👍🏼

Wrong, it's 400GB/S too on the top Max, binned Max has 300GB/s
Interesting
Leaked geekbench scores suggesting the M3 Max is equal to the M2 Ultra which is crazy. Let’s see if thermal throttling takes its toll.
That's insane. Good point!
That’s my question, how does the Pro compare to a M2 ultra on a Mac studio, I’m torn between which one is better

$7200 plus tax for a laptop? I wonder how many of these they're going to sell!
If I were to guess, very few. Once you need a certain threshold of power you're typically moving to a desktop.

the M3 Max with 16-core CPU + 40-core GPU has 400gb/s memory badnwidth...
