Once recovered it returned to freedom, yet would visit me to say good day time to time. Just got called to the garden by a blackbird in distress, asked him what was up, he screeched & turned his eyes to the ground, there was a sparrow hawk. As soon as our eyes met it flew away. Dear black bird was making such a racket.
Amazing that it was actually the jackdaw gripping onto the kestrels feet. I'd have expected it to be the other way around, and no doubt the kestrel has much stronger legs and feet but the jackdaw always managed to grip it in the perfect spot, above the claws and just on the "ankle". There was nothing the Kestrel, with its stronger feet, could do about it. It's like a martial arts special hold, haha. EDIT once in the hold the Jackdaw also pecked and pecked the kestrels controlled foot and leg. This is a bird of prey's most valuable asset, he knew where to hurt it

I didn’t even know how fierce competition birds have 😦
3:25 "Bitch! I was trying to negotiate and you go pushing me into a fight?"
lol
Everyone talking about Kestrel and jackdaw:
Me: Which one of them is the kestrel and the jackdaw?
*Assassins creed 4?*
fascinating.but on the intelligence scale, the jackdaw is far more intelligent than the kestrel. But the perils of nature. The harshness but beauty of nature. wonderful video
Great defense by jackdaw
seeems like Kestrel had it's claws deep into the jack's flesh ....but what happened after this fight ...did Kestrel return for another fight ?
enjoyed that!.. proper film.
XNXXX
My second time watching this. It’s actually the Jackdaw that was holding the Kestrel foot in the 1st clip
So fascinating. Thank you, thank you : )
So I'm curious.I've watched different videos of yours where the hawk (Don't know much about birds or types) Goes to the same nest but one video was a Dove inside, another a black bird of some type and a pigeon all in the same nest and looks to me like the same Hawk comes to it.Are you setting these birds up for a fight? Just curious.
Dinosaur blood wont change! Damn good footage!
Thank you for these kind of videos, i like birds.
3:26 worst time to get raped by the male kestrel or what ever it was
hahahahha I though that
My cockatiel squawked in complete agreement, with both, for the entire scrap.
3:25 kestrel's mate epic troll)))
The jackdaw is like "DON'T YOU DARE!!! YOU GET BACK IN HERE!!!"
Omg that was really useless...😂
He was like either you kick his ass, or I'll kick your ass.
He sees his wife stuck in a hole and he knows what's next. ;)
@uncletiggeri think it was more - becky, et me smaaash
Я наблюдал как несколько галочек гоняли по парку БЕЛКУ! У меня дома живет такой боец) очень умная и обезбашенная птичка)
It has to be the jackdaw's greater intelligence won this battle.
this is what I needed before going to to sleep
That Crow was like, "Come in! I have such sights to show you!"
+Mr. Atlantis ,,,,it wasn't a Crow.....its a Jackdaw....much smaller than a Crow
Fantastic footage.
That was a very, very brave jackdaw indeed.
WOW!!! This is amazing to watch. How often does a human get to witness such a thing?
The fighting is truly vicious, and yet neither seems to be able to claim a vidtory. But I have the feeling it's NOT over yet. The Kestrels want that nest...
Fascinating the way they went in talons first...
Очень интересный материал . Спасибо .
Dang that kestrel gotta look at who she’s attacking not the jackdaw bragging her wings hope she’s okay
those birds are already dead because this video is 14 years ago
feels like watching episode of cheaters
kingusia omg 😂😂😂😂😂
Молодец птица! Галка наверное. Никогда не надо сдаваться!!!!
So they battled and in the end neither bird took possession of the nest-box!
Actually that's not true. The JackDaw took control in the end
Wow what an mazing film!
When your cornered like that and your only priority was your kid's safety, like Ntwadumela, greet the intruder with fire.
Great example of brains versus brawn.
Yes. from what I've read... Crows/jackdaws/ravens are intelligent birds and quite honestly... pound for pound... awesome fighters. This Jackdaw took on a bird which is equipped to kill. Amazing. Yes, these birds are misunderstood especially since Hollywood connected them "so well" with death.
Think about it.. These birds can Talk, Learn, Fight, and use and "make" tools.
