I use mine as my main Transport, and if you don't yet have suspension( F&R ) I highly recommend it !
I got the G30LP a couple of weeks ago. I am pretty happy with my purchase as it was about 25% less than the G30. Had I seen this video first, I may have changed my mind, but the apparent down grade of features are not that important except for the lower range. That is hard one to swallow. Mostly it was a purchase to see if I really like the mode of transport. I do indeed. I'm really enjoying the freedom of these vehicles and I will be upgrading to a more higher end scooter and keep this one at a vacation home for the summers.
It’s turns out the battery casings are exactly the same length. So I’ll bet that Nordium will have some fat battery upgrades available for the LP before too long! -Paul from ESG
I did the same. Started on a Ninebot Max and went to a Wolf Warrior. I lend out the Ninebot a lot so I can go on rides with people, but even with the beast Wolf at hand (which I love) I really enjoy getting on the Ninebot and wafting along without the jerky power almost all beast scooters have no matter how good your throttle control. Also the Ninebot is half the weight of the Wolf, and that makes a nice change sometimes.
@@lukapaunov 68" and 9 It can handle bigger riders, but any serious hill will be slow going. I upgraded to Emove Cruiser and I would recommend that as a first scooter as it is much more versatile.
Hey, I hope you guys talk about the difference between first and second generation motors, it makes a world of difference. Also Segway have marketed the G30LP to have a sturdier build. I have the G30LP and no stem wobble which seems to be an issue with the original Max over time. I would have preferred if I didn't have to carry around a brick all the time though. But I'm very happy with the scooter!!
Range range range, after owning the max for 9 months it’s the most important thing when it comes to a scooter. The real range will be 35-40% LESS than the advertised range, people have to understand that. If you want a scooter that consistently goes 25+ miles you’ll need the real max. (41 mile range)
stability is the main thing that makes the ninebot max a scooter I would purchase... as soon as Chuck mentioned less stability I declared max still reigns the land of the ninebots
I have been using the G30LP for two months, I'm impressed with it. I bought it to use on the golf course, I can easily get about 3 rounds from a single charge. It rides well on grass and gravel. I've used it off road and have also had no issues. The only thing I don't like is the charging port cap as it comes out too easily and the fender makes a rattling sounds at high speeds, I wish they added suspension as this would improve the overall quality of the ride offroad. I've tested it on steep hills and have had no issues. 30 km/h is also fast enough. Chuck, can you please comment on the differences in the motors between 1 and 2 in your review?
The older one was designed for rideshare hence why it’s more durable has a much further distance and better speed the newer one was designed to be a budget scooter with a slower speed less distance and features personally I would get the older scooter as it all around pretty durable nine mirror indestructible can be used in the rain within reason obviously don’t write it in a typhoon yes the G 30 costs more than the G 30 LP but you get what you pay for and the differences are worth it
@@Alex-ei6qr Via the part number printed on the motor hub, there's a difference in the end digit of the part number I cant remember exactly but that's what everyone is saying in forums. So you could always ask a seller for a used scooter for a picture of that part number first before you buy.
@@Alex-ei6qr Well most of the time people buy used if they don't have much money usually from scooter rental businesses they are upgraded to newer models. I got my ES2 with 300 miles on it for $200 which was insanely cheap back in 2019 when they were going for $649
everyone people on facbook and instagram have bad reviews about these scooters and say their customer service is horrible. i hear alot of people are stuck with broken scooters and wont get a reply from Segway. Sucks cuz i was already convinced on buying one of these... im still hopeful!
Customer service definitely isn't going to be as good as from one of the US distributors like Apollo, Voro, or Fluidfreeride. The wait for parts and repairs is definitely longer from Segway Ninebot. On the plus side, the inital quality is really high. Right now, my favorite entry level scooter to ride is the Apollo Air Pro. -Paul
Got old one when it just came out, it's almost perfect made arround 5000km on it allready, battery maybe got little less capable but still i can make thes 40km without any problems on Sport Mode. Changed wheel Bearings 2times i think front wheel bearing are not so reliable but it's cheap and easy to replace so i don't see an issue yet.
I have the older, Gen 2 Model. I am a big guy, 6' & 230lbs, and even I find the older deck length limited at times. Buying today, I would NOT have bought the Max 30glp. I have begun customizing mine, suspension, trunk & tow hitch, all Finally Completed to MY Master Mechanic specifications.

Got an Segway *Ninebot* *MAX* *G30E* *II* _(25kmh/65km),_ and i'm 85kg 182cm. Really nice scooter. Driven over 1400km on it. Its stil like new, not even a lose bolt or any puncture tire.
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Forgot to say that real range for me in Sport mode are between 50-55km (i always ride in S mode). i'v got no major hills, biggest hight diff are like 40m. And have the regen brake on max, use it as my main brake.
For ME, the original Ninebot Max is the ultimate scooter in its class. Making the deck smaller and the stem shorter helps no one. The only thing they could have done as an upgrade, is to make it dual motor. This scooter needs nothing else. It’s great as is ! 🛴👍🏽😃
This just shows some companies try to sell the New one as better but usually start cheaping out and charging more money for a product that isn’t as good

Damn that scared me... I’m buying a ninebot max soon... I didn’t know there was a new one. Thought I was gonna have to buy the newer one but nah I’m still buying the older one.
Hey Chuck - Always appreciate your reviews. Happy new year. I just ordered the G30LP off Amazon this past Sunday. When I ordered it, it was $599.99 which is $200 less than the original G30. It hasn't arrived yet. Now I wonder if I should stick with it or somehow trade it for the original. I knew the height was a couple inches shorter and the range (listed) is 40 down to 25 on the G30LP which didn't matter to me. The deck being smaller and the charging brick now needed for the G30LP kinda was a blow to my excitement lol i wear a size 11 sneaker and am 5'10 so I really hope the size of the G30LP will still be comfortable to ride on for 10-15 miles at a time. Seems like the giddyup is faster on original but long distance the LP will win out. Think spending the extra $200 is worth trading it in when I get it? Just stinks because I thought just the wire to carry around would be way easier and I guess now I won't fit both my feet on the deck. The distance difference doesn't matter to me much especially since they both have same top speed. Thank you!
For me, at $100 difference, I’d get the original. At $200 off, I’d get the LP unless you really need the range. The LP deck doesn’t feel crowded at all to me (size 10 shoes), but the original Max does feel noticeably roomier. For some reason I really like the tiny bit of extra top speed on the G30LP. It’s hard to go wrong with either one. -Paul from ESG
@@RGrider311 I really appreciate that message, Paul. Thank you. Believe it or not I ordered the LP 2 days prior to it going back to the original $699.99 price. Glad to hear the deck isn’t too crowded. It probably is more annoying carrying the battery for the LP tho. Was hoping if I rode the LP I can put the battery the Original Max uses in a small pouch. Probably can’t do that with the battery for the LP. The extra top speed, don’t they go the same 18.6 mph top speed?
Hey Mate, I just recently bought the g30lp and it honestly fits me pretty well, although I’m 6’4, wear size 14 shoes and only 14 years old 😂, but yeah overall don’t worry to much on the deck being smaller and the hand bar height as well, I still think it’s a great scooter. Having to carry around a charger doesn’t really bother me at all, the actual rubber charging port can be annoying sometimes but it’s fine. Enjoy your scooter 👍😊.
awesome review chuck like always best scooter reviewer segway scooter are amazing just wish they had fast charging avaible to compensate for battery life!!!
Hey Chuck, 1st time buyer & new to the sport.. Thks to you & your vids & guide + your crew. I'm going with the Mantis pro, instead of Apollo Pro... Range & all around features, made decision not to difficult. However the lack of weather resistance on Mantis & 1port charges scares me a tad..
The new G30LP has a Gen 2 motor. Does your Max have Gen 1 or Gen 2 when you did the comparison? I have the Gen 1 (naturally tweaked to go to 30kph) but my understanding is that the Gen 2 models' battery will drain evenly allowing you to keep constant speed until its almost drained. The Gen 1 models' speed decreases as the battery drains. I decided to go with the Max because I can eventually upgrade the rear wheel to a Gen 2 (brush-less motor) which will give me the constant continuous speed but still have overall far better distance with the larger battery (which can also be upgraded to go much faster and even further distance) :)
100% correct. The Gen 2 is also has a “guaranteed range” (so no range anxiety) and will maintain full power throughout unlike Gen 1 which will reduce power from 2/3 battery. That hill climb race should have been tried with half battery remaining - the Gen 2 would have smashed the Gen 1 (if it had the Gen1 motor of course).
Idk Segway is still making both models in 2022. G30LP is just the lite model of the G30P The specs are pretty much the same besides battery life and distance
Segway is still making both models in 2022. G30LP is just the lite model of the G30P The specs are pretty much the same besides battery life and distance. But I heard the e45 is just as nice as the g30LP
likely 2nd gen because the kick stand is on the front instead of the rear, still doesn't explain why the G30P has a lower top speed than the G30LP. Both should be limited at 18.6mph and not 15mph.
Have there been any issues with tires breaking off? I literally just today had the back tire snap off my swagteon. Im only 165 lbs. Never buying swagtron again
Do you think there's a way to make Segway to produce and sell suspension for the ninebot g30 to individual customers as they do for the Voi ones? I know monorim and sharkset exist, but I find them ugly.
Great review. Ninebot has a new F40 comes out 2 month ago with similar specs and price comepare to max G30LP but with front wheel driver. Which one do you recommand? I am bit confused in my choice between front driver and rear wheel driver.
Hey guys, a friend of mine rode my scooter, I didnt know he is actually 112 KG, im now scared, I dont know if he damaged the system cause he is Over the maximum weight. Do you guys have any experience about this? I feel the scooter going well, no difference after he rode it, but I still thinking about it
They don't just suddenly break because someone is a little over the rated limit. You'll get more force happening from jumping off curbs or hitting large bumps
Classic example of companies making inferior product due to cost of inflation. Call it "next gen" but only give 50% range of older gen scooter for 80% of price. Really gives you incentive to switch to Niu who isn't pulling this trickery.
there is a MAXG30 II model out (2021) with some differences from original MAX. Has second gen motor, different rear light and reflectors also rear wheel fender. Anyone had a chance to test Vs the old MAXG30 or the MAXG30LP ?
We haven't. Our Max is definitely a gen 1 motor. The main difference will be that the Gen 2 motor keeps a higher top speed longer, as the battery discharges. I would love to swap a Gen 2 into our G30 and re-test! -Paul
At first i bought the G30LE because it was a bit cheaper but after watching this video i cancelled the order and bought the G30. It only cost me 80EUR more. Literally, the G30LE is a pretty big downgrade for almost the same price. It's smaller, it has significantly less range and the charging port is flimsy. I don't know what Segway was thinking, in my opinion the price should be way less for it to be even considered as a smaller successor.
The G30 is perfect in every way, except for, Speed, Suspension, Speed, Suspension, Breaking, Speed, Torque, Suspension, Speed, Acceleration, Fun, Speed, Did I mention it was dangerously slow? On the plus side, you can fall asleep on the "segway" ninebot Max G30. It's that slow and boring.
@@reesecollins482 The Max is great, perfect in every way other than suspension and speed. They are a high quality product, just slow, and a bit stiff in the old ride department. I'd pay 3 times the price of a Max for a performance scoot with the same quality.
It seems like you need a car sir lol are you using the scooter for the highway? Electric scooters are really popular on campus at University you know the small stuff
@@jaedevrick Naah, I've got way too many cars (and motorcycles) already. Just want a ninebot G30 quality performance scooter, for now the Wolf Warrior X plus will have to do, it's just not Honda/Yamaha quality. The segway ninebot is approaching Japanese quality I'd suggest. Just no performance.
Why did Ninebot go completely backwards in everything? Not promising for future models...also it's the Max for a reason of being the maximum potential, not so much portability. Maybe it was done for shorter riders who don't need the increased range but I dunno, the original is still better imo
Agreed, ninebot messed up badly by strongly impling this was an upgrade of the original which it clearly is not. Should have changed the model name to Max mini or Max light.
Thank you John. This is a great idea. We have an ES4 and an ES22, but not an ES45 yet. I really like the idea of a comparison because the ES2 vs ES22 is a night and day difference! I don't care for the ES2 at all, but the E22 is actually pretty nice to ride and I'll bet the ES45 is better in a similar way. -Paul
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide thanks for the reply! I was just wondering because my Costco sells the es3 plus which is an es4 clone made just for Costco for 580 dollars but segway was selling the es45 for 720 dollars for memorial day weekend sale. Costco is cheaper and has a 3month return policy on electronics that i dont have to mail anything (just bring to store) in case there is a defect in those 3 months. But was just curious if perhaps the es45 is immensely better to justify paying 140$ more and not having the costco reliability.
The bigger battery from the first model actually is a direct plug in to the 2nd model..the physical size of the battery is identical, so you can get the same range as the original but in a smaller size scooter

Thanx

Great video. Iam getting me the max one long range. Now at least i know what the difference between them both and the max is the best for range
For ME, the original Ninebot Max is the ultimate scooter in its class. Making the deck smaller and the stem shorter helps no one. The only thing they could have done as an upgrade, is to make it dual motor. This scooter needs nothing else. It’s great as is ! 🛴👍🏽😃
We think so too -- the original Max is one of the best all-around scooters in the world -- certainly the most dependable and safest.
Dual motors would be killer on the Max. Ninebot unfortunately will never do something that cool.
This just shows some companies try to sell the New one as better but usually start cheaping out and charging more money for a product that isn’t as good
Who has had one more then 2000km? Please answer. How much in repairs in that time? Trying to figure out if cheaper then car. Thanks so much for answers!!!

@@playboy2323 Look for an aftermarket charger(due diligence) that fits in stem pouch.

Hey Chuck, 1st time buyer & new to the sport..
Thks to you & your vids & guide + your crew.
I'm going with the Mantis pro, instead of Apollo Pro...
Range & all around features, made decision not to difficult. However the lack of weather resistance on Mantis & 1port charges scares me a tad..
thank you for this comparison.
Our original Max is a Gen1 motor. The new G30LP does a remarkable job of maintaining speed throughout almost the entire battery. -Paul from ESG
@@RGrider311 Thanks Paul.
I just bought a second hand G30 with gen 1 motor and i have not noticed decreased power as the battery drains?
Idk Segway is still making both models in 2022. G30LP is just the lite model of the G30P The specs are pretty much the same besides battery life and distance

How user serviceable is this model? And what’s the availability of replacement parts?
this isn't a replacement for the older model the g30lp is your cheaper option
After watching this video, I decided to go with an older scooter
Was this a 1st generation or 2nd generation motor on the original Max?
likely 2nd gen because the kick stand is on the front instead of the rear, still doesn't explain why the G30P has a lower top speed than the G30LP. Both should be limited at 18.6mph and not 15mph.
I’m 6’4 and the newer one works fine.

They don't just suddenly break because someone is a little over the rated limit. You'll get more force happening from jumping off curbs or hitting large bumps

If you need lighter weight (or you are under 180lbs) then go with the Xiaomi, but for better durability and if you are over 180lbs I'd go for the Max.
