Great intuitive video! I bought my son that exact scooter during Christmas and just bought him a cable lock. By watching your video I bought him the E lock today. Thank you
Just to clarify, the Airtag isn't a GPS tracker. It's simply a Bluetooth beacon. It relies on nearby iPhones and iPads to work send their location to Apple. A real GPS tracker has a built-in GPS receiver and a cellular radio, so you need to buy a SIM card for it. But as long as your tracker has cell signal, you'll always know where it is, which gives me a peace of mind. The biggest downside is that they're a little big and bulky, so it may not fit into all scooters.
@@horvathgabor5485 The accuracy can be less than 20 feet but depends on signal strength and satellite reception. There are trackers with an RF signal. Good video. One additional step for deterrence is a physical cover of the scooter secured to the physical lock. Out of sight presents another level of deterrence to casual thieves but not for determined criminals. The costs for a cover is low and helps to keep gawkers away also. Just another suggestion. Stay safe!!
I didn't know that one of the locks even fits through the scooter's tyre. I wanted to get an e scooter to make my commute to work a bit easier but I was worried about leaving it unattended for several hours in the locker room. It should be fine with the remote control in combination with the folding lock though. Thanks for the great tips!!
Ninebot stolen two weeks ago locked with U-LOCK on it's own --- it was locked only around the main standing neck and not below the wheel --- thieves actually must have unscrewed the handlebars to feed the lock up and off ---- most unfortunate indeed.

I just picked up a 9bot max 2nd gen for retail price. Thought it would be gimmicky because it's not one of those suspension scooters. Reviewers placing cheaper scooters over it in comparison. And I still bought it. This thing gets me to and back from my 7 mile round trip to work with ease. I'm 5'10 185lbs and a full charge on Smode gets me 27 miles in very steep hills there n back. There's 2 hills where I get down to 6mph but it never stops. If I can drive this 250 miles a month commuting, it pays for itself. If I can't, it almost pays for itself. Really not losing either way. Next year I'm going to add an external battery, replace the wire connections inside so they do not melt, and upgrade the rear motor. And maybe the following year I can upgrade the main battery and add a 2nd motor.
I just used MasterLock's biggest actual lock around the angle piece, and run a cable lock through the masterlock to the bike locker. Used in conjunction with the software lock, means even with an angle grinder on the stem I retain the more expensive BATT, BMS, DRV, and internal charger. The stem and the dash can be replaced for cheap. The cops you can also give them the serial number to register it. Airtag is great two is better, two plus decoys are best, make one easy to find, and the real one inside hidden.
So you're going to get groceries while also carrying your scooter? Or sit it by you while you eat inside a restaurant? You'll go to a music venue or art gallery and take your scooter inside? Good luck with those
What I don't like about the remote starter is that it's invisible. I feel like when it comes to locking your stuff, making it visually appear locked plays a huge role. Plus, I feel like if that form of "locking" becomes more popular, thieves who go exclusively for these scooters will figure that out really quick after they quickly carried it away. But yeah as you said anyway never rely on the e-locking methods alone and always use SOME kind of physical lock at the very least. These things are expensive so unless you're shitting money better put the same effort you brought into finding the right e scooter into finding the right physical lock. I think it's non-negotiable.
Yeah, we’d recommend more physical locks from different brands to increase the safety and security of your device. The remote starter, however, is a bit questionable in some areas (i.e., if you manage to lose the remote, etc). If it's good enough to keep someone from walking off with a laptop then it will keep someone from just walking off with my scooter as well .. and the alarm will make sure I know about it.
My Ninebot Max was secured below the wheel like shown in the video, the thief disassembled the scooter, disconnected some wires and completely bypassed my lock (New York Fahgettaboudit Mini). Took him about 10 min. If it's common knowledge to disassemble these scooters and quickly steal them then I'd say that's a serious flaw for even using this in public.
That's why I use 2 motion alarms that each scream at least 110 db and 3 locks (1 Sold Secure Diamond and 1 Sold Secure Gold) to lock up my scooter by its neck. Touch it once and it will screech and/or cutting the locks will require producing a ton of noise! In addition to that, I also cover it with a rain and sun cover that can be locked with a cable lock so thieves would not know what it is underneath after they already triggered the motion alarms by touching it!
I have a mi scooter pro 2, even though the theft rate of scooters and bikes here is low, I have an alarm and a lock, whatever the Thief does the alarm will go off, and the lock will slow him down. I had a bike stolen before
The problem is even with physical lock you cannot prevent thieves from stilling PART of the device. For this reason I don't trust any lock but rather I would choose a safe place to park my kickscooter. Otherwise I don't bring it.
Call it primitive, but I purchased a really thick 2ft chain and lock from Home Depot that's able to fit through my back wheel and easily wraps around a utility pole.
Currently the only thing you can't do is modify it to go over 20 km/h, which is the limit for e scooters here in germany. Itll likely void your warranty though. I guess its possible there could be an issue with the mandatory liability insurance you gotta buy to use an e scooter. But who gives a shit. They probably won't even think to check. German regulations and rules are a constant thorn in my ass every day. They made fucking using cruise control illegal on e scooters last year. Having to hold that throttle down nonstop on long ass bike lanes is giving me carpal tunnel or something. And I cant risk hacking it because to get cruise control back id have to change regions and make the thing faster than 20 km/h which if I get caught doing they will fuck me up with a giant fine.
I have an hiboy scooter, and leave it on and locked by the app for 8 hours, and notice no battery drain. but need a physical lock, thanks for reccomendations.
Got my Niu stolen at Dundas Square today and it was locked with a small kryptonite U lock. Obviously, first lesson learned is never lock a vehicle at D. Square that stands out from the rest (i locked mine next to a $2000 bike - didn’t matter as i was the odd one with thr scooter). But the bigger lesson that no video ever talks about is you have to lock scooters properly. I locked my scooter’s stem to the circle shaped lock w the kryptonite lock and i come back and the lock is still locked, but no scooter. The thief obviously had tools to dismantle the handlebars so that they come off and the stem slides right through afterwards. He must of clipped the wires to the handlebars as well, but that replacement/repair probably wouldn’t cost more that $100. Also in the big city, NEVER think bystanders will help you - they are afraid of people stealing other peoples’ property right in front of them and hero’s don’t exist/won’t care. There were hundreds of people around in broad daylight and the thief still took the time to dismantle the handlebars, so with that being said, alarms or locking the scooter via its app won’t do shit to stop them. Very humbling moment. I’ve learned it really comes down to what kind of area you’re in (druggies/homeless everywhere in that area? They will eventually find a way regardless) and lock the scooter properly (i still think kryptonites are the best locks, but they MUST fit the bottom frame linking the stem to the base AND the lock you’re locking it to)
We’re really sorry to hear that your scooter got stolen! It’s a tough experience for anyone who goes through this madness. And yes, it’s all about where you lock up your scooter, how you lock it up, how many locks you use, and which ones you use to lock it up. All of those factors combined may help prevent thieves from stealing your device. However, it’s always best to take your scooter indoors if at all possible (including at night). - Mikey
@@mularkus165 you’re welcome! Although, I must give full credit to Dylan, as he was the one who made this video before I came onboard. It’s what has actually carried our channel. Full respect goes out to him.👍 - Mikey
The best protection of a scooter against theft is to never leave it on the street not a single second go to the store take to the store Enter the building take all the buildings end!
Google Tchipie motorcycle disc brake lock. It's a $20 little gadget 2/3 the size of your palm that you can clip to your brake disc's (or anything really). If you move it there's a warning chirp, then the loudest alarm I've ever personally heard in my life blows up and won't stop until you turn it off with a key. 10/10 would reccomend
I use 2 ubolts, one to lock the stem to the platform and one to lick the platform to an immovable object and I added a screamer hidden in the battery case
I am an Australian in Australia. Recent owner of G30l. Thankyou. Really little or no information or help here! Required a mobility scooter but with seat, escooter was less than 10% cost affordable and only option. How can I acquire the remote device you demonstrated? Please !
We would recommend a combination lock IN ADDITION TO other locks. That type of lock should not be used on its own, as thieves will be able to crack it in minutes. All locks are deterrents, so we’d recommend having at least 2-3 locks if locking up your scooter outside during the day.
Sir how much does it cost the last gizmo in the Segway NineBot... planning to get my own personal mobility vehicle... from asia philipines... thank you so very much.. 👍👍👍🙂🙂🙂
The weak point of the elock folding lock are the joints. Seen a test on them. The bars are very hard, but the joints can be easily cut with a boltcutter.
A sawzall or cordless grinder would open any of these in less than 10 seconds. If a real thief wants your scooter, he's gonna get it. You'll deter probably 95% of passerbys though until you develop a pattern of parking/locking it up.
I have the Niu Max, when you first run it, you need to register it. After that, if someone steals it and you have it locked, there is noway for the thief to unlock it and the wheels. One of the reasons I bought it.
i had folded lock. Someone stole my folded lock by just take it out of pouch from my scooter few months ago! I wonder will the folded lock company make pouch close and lock it insteads of opened pouch?

Yeah except with the new update to the app it seems like universally everyone says it doesn't work and you run the chance of it blocking you out from having access to your own scooter for good
@@Hiirikettu and a deterrent based on effort. In some really sketchy areas if a thief wants to steal something they'll put gum or wax or some other hard to remove putty in the keyhole or locks so that the owner cant unlock it. Then they'll come back later when there is not many people around to take their time cutting the lock.
the remote lock idea does not lock the internal mechanism. (Throttle, alarm etc. only locks the electrics. A GPS option would be good or an Auto lock option if powered off . I do not have the serrial number does segway record it when you install the NineBot ap? a GPS locator would be good.
I just fold it and put it in my duffel bag and carry it around or put it on the bottom rack of my shopping cart. After watching videos from a lockpicking lawyer, I don't trust any locks.
Hello, nice video. I have a problem, maybe you know how to solve it? I locked my scooter with the app, then accidentally deleted the app, reinstalled and now i can not connect to the scooter anymore, what can I do? I always see a message, turn on the scooter and try again. Thank you!
Hey Ricardo, sorry that you’re experiencing this issue! Try downloading the app again, select “more functions”, open up “Segway-Ninebot Lab”, and connect to Apple FindMy. If that doesn’t work, reach out to Segway Technical Support.
Does that mean Canadians are too quick to downvote or that Canadians are too backward techwise? Just want to know which way I should feel offended! Lol
Cable locks only prevent casual theft. Had a moped stolen out of a (detached) garage many years ago. Was not visible (no windows in the garage), someone in the neighborhood obviously was the culprit, they forced the garage doors open at night and used bolt cutters to make quick work of the cable. (The bike was chained around a support column in the garage) If someone is out to steal a bike, they're taking bolt cutters with them, maybe a battery powered angle grinder, and other small disassembly tools, and these locks just do not deter the thieves. However, there is some value to them, as they can deter a casual opportunist.
Every lock can and will be opened, not always whit force, persone who has picking tools can open thies lock in seconds, they only slow the stealing not prevent it.Same goes whit disk locks you either open it by force or pick it open breaking disklock is pretty simple u need screw that is used to open stuck bolts and then use wrench to break the lock whit that bolt.lockpickinglawyer has done videos on thies locks and how they easyly opened.

can you link the u lock shown in the video? I am looking to buy one
I have a mi scooter pro 2, even though the theft rate of scooters and bikes here is low, I have an alarm and a lock, whatever the Thief does the alarm will go off, and the lock will slow him down. I had a bike stolen before
can you please teach people to observe traffic laws and STOP at traffic lights when people are crossing.
The pope could try doing that tomorrow and nothing would change
The problem is even with physical lock you cannot prevent thieves from stilling PART of the device. For this reason I don't trust any lock but rather I would choose a safe place to park my kickscooter. Otherwise I don't bring it.
That's very true as well. Either have multiple locks on hand (backups to the backups) and/or fold and bring it into your cubicle/office.👍
I accidentally locked my scooter in the app Segway Segway ninebot app and I cannot slide the unlock icon down to unlock it. Help
Call it primitive, but I purchased a really thick 2ft chain and lock from Home Depot that's able to fit through my back wheel and easily wraps around a utility pole.
Nice! As long as you feel it protects your scooter, that’s what counts!
Im wondering if the remote control is legal to use in Germany. They are really strict in the law when it comes to “modifying” things
You’re welcome! Hope they were helpful!🤙 - Mikey
- Mikey
@@segwayontario thanks Mikey! Your videos certainly help in the toughest times of owning a scooter.
Yea like you just have to push it easily
I put it in the shopping cart
Living in nyc that it is as real as it gets. Protect it at all times. They are stolen all the time here. Be careful out there.
I have been thrown out of stores for pushing or trying to use a cart so that is not always an option
@@Ace117RA ya, we had no problem one time ina store then the next time they said no
There is no protection from a battery powered angle grinder, so I suggest you have good reliable insurance cover.
Got mines I been scared to leave it out with just my u lock
You forgot disc lock option. Much better than app lock and very easy to carry and setup.
4:27 it is also super easy to dissemble and steal it. Just takes 60 secs to remove the screws and remove the attachment.
Does the remote control also work for the ES4? Or is there one available? And how can i secure the extra battery better?
I use 2 ubolts, one to lock the stem to the platform and one to lick the platform to an immovable object and I added a screamer hidden in the battery case
Maybe a bag or those backpack style ones.
I am an Australian in Australia. Recent owner of G30l.
Thankyou. Really little or no information or help here!
Required a mobility scooter but with seat, escooter was less than 10% cost affordable and only option.
How can I acquire the remote device you demonstrated? Please !
you lost me when you recommended a combination lock
We would recommend a combination lock IN ADDITION TO other locks. That type of lock should not be used on its own, as thieves will be able to crack it in minutes. All locks are deterrents, so we’d recommend having at least 2-3 locks if locking up your scooter outside during the day.
can you buyt External Battery for Ninebot by Segway Kickscooter MAX G30E II
Sir how much does it cost the last gizmo in the Segway NineBot... planning to get my own personal mobility vehicle... from asia philipines... thank you so very much.. 👍👍👍🙂🙂🙂
Segway should develop a tracker.
use a airtag
That thumbnail had me in tears laughing.
Sawzalls and cordless grinders aren’t exactly discrete burglary tools. Where exactly is this hypothetical scooter parked? The middle of the desert?
@@pamelasantini8783 there’s videos on UA-cam of lots of things. Doesn’t mean it’s true or wasn’t set up.
I have the Niu Max, when you first run it, you need to register it. After that, if someone steals it and you have it locked, there is noway for the thief to unlock it and the wheels.
One of the reasons I bought it.
Interesting!
Do you think its the same function for NIU KQi Air Lightweigt scooter?
i had folded lock. Someone stole my folded lock by just take it out of pouch from my scooter few months ago! I wonder will the folded lock company make pouch close and lock it insteads of opened pouch?

I just put my u lock in the tire spokes wether it’s locked to something or not the scooter isn’t gonne move much with it on there
Yeah except with the new update to the app it seems like universally everyone says it doesn't work and you run the chance of it blocking you out from having access to your own scooter for good
Never ever use cable locks because they can be cut in a second with small cutters.
all locks protect only from kids
@@serbarkis All locks are just to buy time against theft.
I got an E45D how what lock did you say? I can't find an button lock funktion just the first time i buyed it i could unkock but no more!
How many centimeters should it have at least the U lock ?
the remote lock idea does not lock the internal mechanism.
Anybody that even suggests cable locks anymore instantly gets a downvote. You people really are from Canada.

Does The U Lock And The First Lock U Showed Work With the Segway NineBot F30E?
Every lock can and will be opened, not always whit force, persone who has picking tools can open thies lock in seconds, they only slow the stealing not prevent it.Same goes whit disk locks you either open it by force or pick it open breaking disklock is pretty simple u need screw that is used to open stuck bolts and then use wrench to break the lock whit that bolt.lockpickinglawyer has done videos on thies locks and how they easyly opened.
Can the the remote starter be used on any e scooter or just for that basic scooter
The ETOOK Folding Lock is no longer showing up. Also will this work on the Segway G30P ?

Cheers for your question, Carlos! The link isn’t available on our website anymore because the supplier we used to frequent doesn’t offer them anymore. However, you can still get them in the U.S., but keep in mind that nowadays, most Segway-Ninebot devices utilize the Segway-Ninebot app for quick locking and other functions.
