Ugh. Scariest day. We deal with this still in our almost 8 year old. She still has to hold our hand in public, or she goes underneath the cart. I keep the chain on the door and we had a key lock on our gate until it broke and now only the hulk, aka the dad, can open it. I caught her trying to get out her window a few months ago, and for now we have plastic over her window so it can’t be opened. Forever will cheer on leash parents because, same. 😂
aparently james running away is standard thing at school. we have to take him into school and get breakfast and deposit at class room or he explores on his own. the last week of kindergarten he got away from grandma and we literally lost him for 15 minutes at least since school is 2 blocks from house and we walk him to school. there are police who dirrect traffic at his charter school that my mom could talk to luckily a 4th grade teacher saw james 4 blocks from school and recognized he was a kindergartener at her school and convinced him to get in her car. she then called the police and one of the officers at the school and i went to get him. he then ran from church the next sunday and police were involved again and he was found blocks away from church. no further episodes months later luckily but we always hold hand in public.
Austin would try to elope at times. I would sit and think of the worse scenario sometimes. I even had a meeting with Austin’s principal before he started elementary and middle school to make sure they were aware of exits and that he would go for them. But luckily we haven’t had a issue as of today. Thank god Ezra’s, and y’all’s, experience ended with a good ending.
Those GPS watches though… hahaha!! We think Ezra understood when he saw how scared his parents were. It’s been two years and no more eloping incidents, thank God!
