Out Of Nowhere | The Unknown Forest And The Surprising Finds

  • Watch me hunt a new, unknown forest. Another metal detecting adventure with unexpected finds, annoying insects and partial lack of motivation. The location looked not as "nice" as I expected. The start was pretty bad, but the first good find exceeded (to my very surprise) all my expectations.
    It wasn't easy to find the good stuff, because the area was filled with trash (mostly from the military). I reached a low at some point. The insects gave me a very hard time, the forest section I walked in was very trashy. My motivation went down, I partially stopped swinging the coil and looked for the exit.
    Just when it got pretty bad... bang! - a big silver coin, out of nowhere! I really wasn't expecting this to happen. To get it at this moment was surreal.
    This is what makes this hobby (or let's say passion) interesting. If everything was predictable, it wouldn't make that much fun.
    Thanks for watching.

    Zdravim,
JG Slovakia

    Thanks for the adventure. Your buddy has a nice bell, just his size. Too bad he doesn't like train rides, as he takes so many. Happy that you have him to keep you company. Does he talk all the time? Thought maybe you couldn't get a word in. Love your country for all the exciting finds and all the possibilities for unique treasure.

    Today you have worked hard for your discoveries. The ground has seemed harder (very dry) and the targets deeper. Some interesting finds and the major disappointment of the long rod (not a rifle). Best of luck with your next exploration. Always a good video till the last minute. Thanks for sharing. USA, Michigan.

    This was a hunt with a lot of mixed emotions. A wonder bell to start, but I really felt my heart sank when the rifle wasn't one. The what wonderful Mark 2 coin now that was so worth it. But them creatures sure wanted you as there lunch. Well done, great hunt and thank you for sharing as always.

      Hello and thank you for watching. The creatures were very annoying. You don't feel the bite, but you know that something is there. The wounds often don't heal for many months.
      There also is another even more annoying fly that attacks my eyes. It has some sort of built in thermal vision which allows her to find the hottest, exposed spot of the body (the eyes).
      It flies with full speed from a close range right into the eye and repeats it over and over. There usually is not one fly, but many... It is very annoying. It was that bad, I had to wear goggles for the first time this year.
      It is already a huge gamble to enter the forest (with all the diseases). I believe it will be even worse in the future...
      Have a great day.

    I. Went hunting in the woods like that in the winter. Dug a lot of stuff 3 ring bullets and a union Brest plate great hunt, but I did not use any gloves and got poison ivy bad! Now I use gloves if I'm not in a yard. Good luck!

      Thank you. I'm not very familiar with plants. So far I didn't had that much trouble with poisonous plants (or maybe I didn't realize it). Thorns are my biggest problems. They are everywhere in different shapes and sizes. My gloves are too thin for it. I don't like using gloves, I have it only on my left hand, to wipe the soil of the blade (otherwise it would get stuck in the sheath).
      Have a nice day and Happy Hunting.

    Looks like you miss a bunch of ground the way you swing that coil. I run over every leaf in the woods , And every blade of grass in a yard!I followed a guy that hunts like you and I found more than he did..

    • @MetalDetecting24
      @MetalDetecting24  7 років тому

      It is not my intention to cover every leaf. The key is to know where to do it and where not to. It's the most important skill in my opinion. I think, you would be very surprised after a hunt behind me. Sometimes I revisit places I already hunted and I'm always very happy with my previous result (otherwise I would change my approach).
      There also is another aspect many people "can not see". Gaps between coil sweeps mean nothing, if you hit the targets anyway... ;)
      Have a nice day.

    Great video. You don't seem to be digging too deep - are you Discriminating out iron and your is your sensitivity low? Sorry, newbie questions; I have similar forests around me and I'd like to give it a go.

    • @MetalDetecting24
      @MetalDetecting24  7 років тому

      Hello, thanks for the question. No, actually the detector is cranked up to the maximum. The discrimination is set as low as possible ("3" on the Deus is pretty low). The sensitivity is set to 97-99 I believe (which is almost maximum).
      The reactivity is set to "3", which costs depth, but that's the only acceptable setting (for me). Everything else below 3 is too slow, not precise and the audio is "bloated". I don't know why the targets are shallow... It seems to be the case with all my detectors (maybe it's my own magnetic field...).

    • @Mark-lh4xq
      @Mark-lh4xq 7 років тому

      Thanks for explaining that. It makes sense. I'll try similar settings on my Fisher when I get the opportunity to forest hunt. Good luck for the future.

    Thanks again for another great hunt in the woods , do you prefer to detect in woods or is it because you can't get much permission on fields ? HH Digging Scotland's Past

    • @MetalDetecting24
      @MetalDetecting24  7 років тому +2

      Hello, I prefer to hunt in the woods mostly because of the nature (I just feel much more relaxed there). It also requires (more) thinking which makes everything much more exciting (it's like real tracking). A few years ago I got in touch with someone from Czech Republic who is very close to the metal detecting community there. The detectorists there called themselves "hunters", which I could not understand at the time. Back then it looked to me like exaggeration, now I fully understand what it means...
      When it comes to fields, I changed my mind a little bit. It can be exciting too, but it is not that challenging (from the strategic point of view). Last year I got permission for a few promising fields. It was fun at first... but I got spoiled very quickly. I remember being "disappointed" after finding "only" one or two silver coins, because during the previous hunt I found four and many other things.
      It just becomes a robotic task, with "find count" as the most important factor. If finds were more important to me, I would probably detects fields, rather than a (in some cases) trashy, "hopeless" spot in some bushes.
      On the other hand, it's true that it is very difficult to find fields to hunt (if you don't have a car) and no one is there when you arrive to give you permission. You have to be very lucky to find a farmer. Sometimes I would like to detect fields (or a pasture) for a change, but it often is not possible.
      Have a nice evening.

    Was wondering if those holes you speak of are from a type of ground burrowing animal living there ?
    Great hunt my friend,I understand your frustration of a trashy area's, they are anywhere you or I go it seem's,

    • @MetalDetecting24
      @MetalDetecting24  7 років тому +1

      Hello, the small holes will remain a mystery. I also thought, small animals made them, but I never saw one coming out... I could understand when they were everywhere around the target, but they are always right where I stab my knife for the very first time. I often do it with a decent amount of force and almost "brake" my hand, because I'm expecting resistance that is not there. It is very, very strange. Well, at least it's interesting :).
      Have a great day.

    • @MetalDetecting24
      @MetalDetecting24  7 років тому

      Hallo und danke. Die Münze ist nicht so groß (hier sind mehr Infos - finde die Seite übrigens klasse: goo.gl/48X4UG ).
      Was Eisen angeht ist meine Erfahrung noch relativ gering. Elektrolyse kenne ich nur von Bildern. Diese haben mich dermaßen abgeschreckt, dass ich es nie probiert habe. Zwei Tests mit Oxalsäure haben mich ebenfalls abgehalten, es zu verwenden.
      Das einzige was ich "empfehlen" kann ist destilliertes Wasser (mit Natriumhydroxid) und viel Geduld. Sagt sich zwar leicht, aber wenn man viel Eisen nach Hause getragen hat, dann wird es irgendwann schwierig, alles ordnungsgemäß zu koordinieren. Man sollte das Wasser nämlich relativ oft wechseln und möglichst viel Rost abtragen.
      Wenn die Zeit knapp ist, wird alles irgendwann vernachlässigt. Mein Tipp wäre deshalb, Eisen nach Hause zu schleppen, wenn es sich wirklich nur um etwas "besonders" handelt.
      Wenn es zu viel wird, verliert man irgendwann den Überblick und gute Sachen werden darunter leiden.
      Ich habe einen riesigen Schlüssel gefunden, den ich bald aus dem Wasser rausnehme. Wenn es so weit ist, versuche ich (vielleicht) ein Video zu erstellen und das Ergebnis zu zeigen.
      Viele Grüße und Gut Fund.

    • @MetalDetecting24
      @MetalDetecting24  7 років тому

      Hallo. Ich würde die Reaktivität des Deus auf "3" stellen. Es ist (meiner Meinung nach) der optimale Wert, um möglichst gute Information über die Tiefe und Größe des Fundes zu erhalten. Dann würde ich die Töne reduzieren und neben einem Ton für Eisen, höchstens einen zweiten für alles andere wählen.
      Um Einstellungen vorzunehmen, würde ich das Programm #6 "Deep" nehmen, weil dort das Eisen, wie Eisen klingt. Dann würde ich Dir empfehlen, nicht auf die ID-Werte der Fernbedienung zu schauen. Steck die Fernbedienung weg (möglichst nah am Ohr), oder klebe die Zahlen mit Klebeband zu und konzentriere Dich auf die Töne. Das wäre die Basis, um von hier zu starten.
