I just bought the ECL 4646 flashing kit and assumed the underlay would be included as the video states. But it's a separate purchase now. Then I noticed the date of the video so probably you used to include it. Maybe update the description? Regardless, very useful video, thanks.
The ECL flashing kit does include the adhesive underlayment. If your kit did not have it, please call VELUX Customer Service @ 1-800-888-3589 to help you obtain a replacement.
This video has snapshots from a house install, which was done differently (and wrong) at 12:03 they are laying down the sticky, properly with the roof paper cut back, then at 12:08, they show a picture with the curb over the paper, no sticky allowed to touch the plywood. It's like you're sending mixed signals?
@@PeterLaska that is what the solar panel and battery does. we have one, it opens and closes with a remote, and it's only hooked to the small solar pannel no other power source.
Hello! Thanks for the question. The video shows both our electric venting and solar powered venting skylight installation methods, so you're seeing instructions for routing the electric wiring, as well as how to connect the solar panel to the skylight for the solar product.
Wish I'd watched this video before installing, spent a while pouring over the instructions. I did a few things like add an additional single over the top to cover the side of the top piece that sticks out and I didn't cut the corners to fit a 2x4 curb like that, I just cut at an angle on the side and and took the sides away leaving the part you bend forward full width.
Mike - We don't have a video showing ECW installation, but here's a link to the ECW flashing installation guide: www.veluxsolutions.com/apps/LPI.nsf/0/8E0550C0F6982246852579C0004FB0E2/%24file/ECW%20Installation%20Instructions%20w%20Underlayment%2008_20.pdf Thank you.
telosfd - Thanks for the question. Please find flashing system installation instructions for tile roofs here: www.veluxusa.com/professional/tools/architects/drawings-and-specifications#flashing Thank you.
If water gets under the shingles, it’s already under the shingles, that’s what the underlayment is for, and why you would have your underpayment shingled over the top of that upper flashing assembly, then back out on top of the shingles. The step flashings are a continuation of the shingle up the wall, so water coming off the side of the shingle into that inside corner is diverted back onto the shingle/flashing downhill.
Curb mounted velux skylights are supposed to be able to be installed with the long dimension parallel to the eave but this type of installation needs a different flashing kit and the one I was sold is for vertical installations only....nor does this video even talk about this! C'mon Velux!
Lexicograffer - Thanks for the note and we'll keep this in mind when it comes time to update the installation videos. If you decide to install a curb mounted skylight sideways, you would need to purchase a flashing kit that matches the width of the skylight. For example, an FCM 2234 installed on its side would need a 3434 flashing kit. Thank you.
Hi Luis - You would need to replace the motor assembly. The batteries are not sold separately. Please contact our customer service team at 800-888-3589. Thank you.

I'm confused, why would a solar skylight need to be hooked up to electric, isn't the point of a solar skylight so you don't have to run 120 power?
To power the motor that opens and closes the skylight.

That model of skylight it is fixed? the same type as FS W08 model?
Do you have instructions of the roof the requires ECW flashing?

their flashing system is pretty good
I still don't see why water getting under the singles and on to the flashing can't move laterally and under the shingles to the roof.

Has anyone used or installed a skylight for an observatory window ?
Great video!
On the mockup, it's a piece of cake!"On a 10/12 roof, it's a challenge!
