This should be broadcasted on TV instead of Sochi GP or Abu Dhabi.

In fairness the same could be said about a test pattern.

Epic pass on Jim Clark, awesome! Was impressed with how he stayed ahead of him so easily too, despite missing a few gears!

Let’s go Richie!! Showing up a 2 time champ! Loving this Tasman series by the way. Hopefully Jack will finally gain trust in him and supply him with a better engine. Even though the Tasman series is great I cannot wait for the start of the 66’ season.

Mercilessly brake checked by Clark at every opportunity but he had his comeuppance! Axelson outwitted him when he was least expecting it and went on to take a well deserved win! Well done Richie.

@@jamesbehra2690 Yes you are correct. I tried 3 races yesterday in Assetto Corsa and got punted off from behind in every race! I find GPL AI very advanced.

My organizational brain appreciated the face you used red and blue for the New Zealand portion and green and gold for the Australia portion :)

The 66 track had a bigger corner after the 'hairpin' and and an ess back to the pit straight racingcircuits.info shows it. The Caldwell crash occurred elsewhere on the track as you said in the Esses. He was the older brother of Alastair Caldwell who was team manager of McLaren in the 70s

Few people still remember that guy! He was in the team with Teddy Mayer and Tyler Alexander.

The old corners are still visible on the satellite view.

It almost looks like the Clark AI was brake checking you on the middle sections of the track. If you hadn't passed him I was going to suggest the slightest nudge to his gearbox on one of his slower turns. Glad to see you won this round. It's sort of silly, but I find myself on the edge of my seat when watching these races.

The idea that you could out run Jim Clark when he had more power is a little bit of a stretch but the game decided Jim wasn't going to do well in the twisty bits and you did a nice job

This is my home track :D It looks pretty good (the layout has never changed as far as I'm aware) - although it is just a little bit too flat - there isn't a lot of elevation (the track is built on a sandy base and is quite flat) but there is a metre or so through the Esses. Good race, good win!

Clark learned those blocking moves the hard way, by battling the high powerfull Ford Galaxies in his nimble but underpowered Lotus Cortina. This time you showed who's boss

I was at the circuit the day Bill Caldwell and two young spectators were killed. I've also met a guy in recent years who ducked the flying car as it left the circuit.

Hey, I’ve been meaning to send you this comment since you restarted the 1966 season but I’ve been lagging behind until now. Back in 2012 I was an avid watcher of your Let’s Race series and I remember being especially interested in the non-championship races, which at the time I had never heard of.
I have a google doc I want to share with you and wondering if there is a better way of doing it than in the UA-cam comments. It’s a work I started some 8 years ago after watching your Enna Pergusa race (I’ve been following your channel that long, lol) and it is a complete F1 calendar for the GPL years that includes some really obscure series like the Australian Gold Star Championship and the South African F1 Championship, as well as some lesser known non-championship races that are missing from Wikipedia.
Perhaps Richie Axelson has already a full calendar for the year but if you wanted to attend some additional events you might find some inspiration in it. Let me know.
Either way, thank you for all the entertainment this past decade. Absolutely loving the resurgence in activity on the channel.

Dude that info is awesome! I hope the SonofAxel could try to replicate it! Love your content GPL. love it! Huge fan of vintage F1 back when men where men women where “foxes” and smoking was part of the deal...

Nice to see cars in British racing green with yellow stripes.
I've restored my 1958 Austin A35 as a racer, in BR green with double yellow stripes.
Here in the UK, DOUBLE yellow lines mean "no parking".
I don't want bigger cars parking on my roof.

Hey Jake, great race as always, keep 'em coming! I'm really glad that your channel is getting more and more attention, and I think it was a clever move that you play recent sims as well. You're a legend!
I'd like to ask about your GPL setup as I'm just about to reinstall it after 1-2 year break. My main question is whether you use any of the 60 fps patches? I've read that they are not ideal for racing against the AI. What's your opinion about it? Probably a 'How to install and set up GPL' sort of video would be very welcomed by the community. I recon, you motivate quite a few people to recreate your races, so these types of tutorials would be super helpful!
    Cheers and take care!

    Sweet home Invercargill.
Enjoyed the visit to probably the biggest thing to happen in Invercargill since The Rolling Stones visited in 1965 and called it "the arsehole of the world."
Does this sim model the howling southwesterly that comes of Foveaux Strait/The Southern Ocean?

About Bill Caldwell having a stuck throttle - could he have survived if he'd put it in first gear and deliberately over-revved the engine until it blew up?

He didn't have time. It was all over in a second. He went over the fence, into a sheep truck that was being used as a DIY grandstand and he and two boys sitting under the truck died.
