The Nun was so bad though... Who cares about the details when the main story is just so awful. Valak was a joke. No amount of snake drawings is going to redeem it.
I'm kind of terrified of what would happen if somebody summoned a really high-ranking demon. So far we've seen an earl, in Malthus, and a President in Valak. Those are the two lowest ranks in the Ars Goitia. What would happen if somebody summoned a king or something? If a President can do so much damage and be so hard to contain, would it even be possible for humans to fight back against a King?
These movies make demons look scary but if you study the Bible you see that they're just a bunch of losers. A legion of demons commited suicide just because they heard Jesus name
Then I would look forward to a high ranking priest to take out the king. It would be interesting to see how it would all go down. Because I would imagine all high ranking priests/ministers from different religions unite to annihilate the high ranking entity. That would be epic to see go down.
In Pope’s Exorcist… they summoned King of Hell… the demon corrupt the whole christianity by possessing a priest and committing mass genocide in the name of religion.

Considering the incredible amount of effort and time these probably take to create I’m almost positive he has these recorded and edited for awhile in advance most of the time. Some of the most convincing proof of this theory is a video he released probably not even a month ago, and in the narration he said something like “now while I’m editing this in the year 2020….” And it wasn’t a joke, so seems like the only explanation is that he had created that video over 6 months ago in 2020 and has been sitting on it, along with probably tons of other videos to release on a scheduled basis. It just makes too much sense for me to believe the alternative, which is that he works at a feverish pace every week and produces these absurdly high quality and extremely long UA-cam videos in mere days, every week. Basically my main point is from what I can see, it seems like he’s got a good system set up to avoid burn out :-)
I never comment on videos but I just wanted to say- I love that this guy edits in little ad breaks. It’s so annoying when ads disrupt a video randomly. Planning them like that is so cohesive. Nice touch
As we know, demons like to scare humans. But Valak and Malthus are different types of demons. My theory is that they both have different 'goals'. We learned that Malthus wants to (eventually) posess everyone on earth. But I don't think that's neccecarily something all demons want (or, are assigned to do by the devil or Belial). Sure, Valak posesses people too, but I think he uses this as a tool to get what he wants; the elimination of all human 'threats' to demons. Evidence: what is the only thing that can stop the demonic, according to the conjuverse? Faith. Valak targets the Warrens, sister Irene, father Burke, etc. AKA, (powerful) religious people. He is summoned at a highly religious place and turns it into the opposite. Valak even tries to kill Ed. Sure, he was present at the Hodgsons's home and they aren't (powerful) religious people. But I think Valak wanted to lure Ed and Lorraine there. He gives Lorraine a vision beforehand of Ed being killed in England so he knew what was going to happen. Malthus only kills to posess, Valak posesses to kill. Please note that this is just a theory! Please correct me if i'm wrong.
26:32 The purpose of this is to kill Ed. Lorraine's vision that scared her is about Ed being impaled on said spikey tree stump. This is used to threaten them from ever continuing to face Valak. And obviously, they still continued which eventually led up to that point. In response to this, Valak used Janet to step out of the window for Ed to attempt to save her, so that he instead would be impaled.
You literally made 'the NUN' a 100* more interesting than it actually was. Thanks for correlating everything, it seems so clear now. The director did a great job at the details, giving hints of the oruborus since Annabelle, WOW!
@@Xominus okay, so no, it didn't happen IRL. but it's not super easy to explain so I don't totally blame you for thinking it did. so, the Warrens were real people. they did work as paranormal investigators. the broad strokes of these movies are based on things they investigated. however, that doesn't mean demons and whatnot actually exist, so just because they investigated something doesn't mean that thing is real. additionally, even if you believe demons and ghosts and stuff exist, and even if you believe the Warrens investigated real demons and whatever, that doesn't mean what we see in the movies actually happened or happened like it's portrayed. for example, the Warrens were only part of the Enfield poltergeist investigation for two days lol
@@sethescope Actually the work that the Warren's did was so real that they were the only ones to be officially recognized by the roman catholic church as "demonologists" I can promise you the church wouldnt have sent a specialized priest to bless the Warren's museum where the Annabelle doll is "just for fun" once a week
@@oldnite3414 you misread my comment and the reply thread as a whole. we were all talking about whether the movies depict real life events, which they do not. the movies are a fictionalization of real life events. so yes the Warrens investigated the Enfield poltergeist, for example, but their investigation didn't happen like it did in the movie. I explicitly say that it doesn't matter if you think demons and ghosts are real or not - regardless, the movies don't depict real life as it occurred. but for the record, the idea that I should take the opinions of the Catholic Church seriously, about ghosts or anything else, is quite funny. no one who unironically believes in transubstantiation has any credibility.

It's funny with that line that pretty much says that humans give things names as a way to remove the unknown from whatever they're labeling. Like, given that the unknown is our biggest fear, I think it rings very true that this would be the thing to yeet a demon out. Or anything really. A scary presence with a bunch of hair haunting the kitchen sounds terrifying compared to a bear broke in and wanted the food.
I absolutely agree. I think what also adds to the scare factor is that there's not a lot you can supposedly do against a demon or spirit or whatever. even if a bear attacks you, you can run away or hide or fight back, and you have a chance to survive, but that's not something you can do it you're in a conjuring movie. it's the fear of the unknown and a lack of ability to save yourself or someone else, I think

I think, in the conjuring 2, Val did want to possess the little girl. My theory is that she wanted to kill Ed all along. (Hence why Lorane kept having visions about his specific death with the spike) the reason why he kept getting hurt and almost killed, BUT NOT, on the way up to the room was to make it look like Val didn't want him up there when she really did. If it was too easy Ed would catch on, and maybe she thought impairing his vision both physically and mentally through adrenaline, would lead to him blindly running towards the window where the spike would be waiting. That's my theory anyway.

I think Valak's goal is to send Ed through the spike (expecting that he'd save the kid) as its revenge towards Lorraine's family. Remember, this happened in Lorraine's vision in their house when she met Valak - Ed being impaled.
I think this too. I believe it was Valak's attempt to scare her from getting involved with the case further basically threatening to kill Ed if she continued to pry and save the family. It would have also been a way to test her resolve, thus making her an easier adversary for Valak to thwart. Ed's connection with Lorraine is presented throughout the Conjuring universe as being a strong reinforcement of her beliefs and the use of her gift to help people because he's the only person to truly believe her and support her abilities as a medium. To sever that connection would have been devastating for her and could have very well corrupted her faith.
I really appreciate the original design for Valak (the beautiful sculpture) and I love that Wan kept it in there as the final form we see before Valak is sent back to hell. Great work finding that and showing us that.

Couple of other fun facts: Out of all the priests who were claiming to be exorcists, Ed and Lorraine Warren were the only ones to actually be recognized by the roman catholic church as true "demon-ologists" Also when the Warren museum was still open they would have a designated priest bless the grounds multiple times every month

Enfield was a real case btw. It was an actual real event that happened where they documented seeing a chair slide across the room without anything touching it or forcing it too. Bill (William Wilkinson) had died of a haemorrhage while sitting in an arm chair. It is said that a Dark entity had possessed bill’s spirit making him hostile. After Enfield the children grew up and left home. Peggy (the mum) died in the arm chair in the same way bill had, by haemorrhage in the same chair as well.

Next thing you know, they were on a talk show, or releasing a book or holding a lecture at a collage university where they would claim they had a bigger part in the case then they actually had. Such was the case of the Enfield Poltergeist. The fact that valak uses a snake to scare most of his victims must be a reference to the fear of snakes, aka ophidiophobia, the rest are based on probably other people's fears
With Christianity, people started looking at Snakes as something that should be feared. Snakes are seen as creepy, slimy and evil creatures that could kill a person within minutes with their poison. People of faith believe snakes are the advocates of the devil. Goes as far back as the beginning of time where Satan is infamously known for tricking Eve into eating the forbidden fruit and causing Adam and Eve to be cast out from the garden. This has caused countless others to associate snakes with lies, revenge and trickery. Snakes have become a recurring symbol of the struggle between good and evil. They also serve as a constant reminder to people not to let their sins tempt them.

I love how fast these are getting released but don't burn yourself out cz
Please correct me if i'm wrong.
i mean its a good theory tho
I wonder what Valak would do in the presence of the bishop of Rome. Do you think that a more powerful religious figure could stop

so, the Warrens were real people. they did work as paranormal investigators. the broad strokes of these movies are based on things they investigated.
however, that doesn't mean demons and whatnot actually exist, so just because they investigated something doesn't mean that thing is real. additionally, even if you believe demons and ghosts and stuff exist, and even if you believe the Warrens investigated real demons and whatever, that doesn't mean what we see in the movies actually happened or happened like it's portrayed.
for example, the Warrens were only part of the Enfield poltergeist investigation for two days lol
@@sethescope Actually the work that the Warren's did was so real that they were the only ones to be officially recognized by the roman catholic church as "demonologists"
I can promise you the church wouldnt have sent a specialized priest to bless the Warren's museum where the Annabelle doll is "just for fun" once a week

Enfield was a real case btw. It was an actual real event that happened where they documented seeing a chair slide across the room without anything touching it or forcing it too.
