    Thank you very much for the video, I bought one myself from the same crowd as yourself, great price, I was looking for a video of the tent and you are correct they don't exist, yours is the first one, I'm new to camping, never owned or used a tent before, thanks to you I have peace of mind, I haven't even pitch it yet, thank you again for the video, I hope it'll survive the Irish weather!!

      It amazes me how bad vangos marketing is, the amount they must have put into development seems wasted, all they need to do is give a couple of tents away for review.
      There is nothing i dislike about it.... Yet😂😂

    interested in the Staravor or the Robens Starlight 2, this seems to be roomier, love the adjusting the external zip from inside, but feel the Robens is a stronger tent in worse weather. thanks for the review Ginge

    Great review. I picked up the Starav a few weeks ago and I love it. The two windows/vents at either end are to die for. You could throw a small tarp over one end and make another vestibule for storage. Alot of possibilities. It's definitely more stable than the Nevis or Cairngorm due to the 3 hoop design, which is a throwback to earlier Vango tents like the Spectre and Bravo (but they were even heavier). The end hoops also make it roomier. It's heavier than the Cairngorm, but I'd definitely carry around an extra pound for the Starav. I just love the atmosphere it creates. And you can trim weight on the bags and pegs (the stock pegs are sturdy, but heavy - get titanium pegs).

      I want to make some carbon fiber pegs from arrow shafts,.. And with no wind the Starav only needs two pegs.
      And vodka weights less than beer 🤔

      Didn't want to mention that bit about the vodka. And losin' a few pounds can help too.

    Heads up on the Zephros pitch, I can get mine tight as a drum. I pop the hoop pole in, peg those areas and then go to both ends of the tent, angle the little poles away from the tent a little (important) and tension down the guy lines. It tensions the fly in a straight line, dead taught. I then peg the four corners and tighten them accordingly, followed by a final little tension either end of the tent. Pretty sure Terra Nova instruct you to leave tensioning either end of the tent till last, I don’t get as taught a pitch this way though 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I'm on a bicycle trip in Norway at the moment with this tent. Within two weeks all tentpoles were broken. After the main pole broke, and I had repaired it, I was extremely cautious not to break the other poles. They all broke within days, as if they are made of chocolate.

      Yeah deffo Sandy, I just bought it on the price, needing something a little more robust for winter, there is next to no info about it on line just a few photos,
      Im very impressed with how its made, they obviously learned a lot from some of the problems with the vango cairngorm tent

    Just bought myself a Wild Country Coshee after owning a Vango Banshee for about a decade or more, and I've gotta say, I think Vango makes a better quality tent overall. There are various things about the Wild Country that are a bit questionable. I'll be buying Vango in future.

    • @WildGingerBruce

      Banshee is a great tent, but can only get it from go outdoors as they own the design aparently, such a shame its one of the best tent designs

    I got one of these Starav's for £120 a while ago, except it has the yellow inner instead of orange. The only negative is no mesh on the door but I've fixed that by using a circular mesh pop-up food cover (the smallest of a set of three off Amazon) which measures 11.5 inches across and fits perfectly in the top corner when you synch the zip up - making a makeshift circular mesh window. for added ventilation.
    Another good budget tunnel tent for tall people is the Regatta Montegra 2 which is very long inside - I picked one up for £75 and they can still be found for around that price.

      The zeneth, nevis and cairngorm are very similar to the zephyros 2 in design, the Starav seems a more robust deaign with 3 hoops, but obviously there is a weight trade off 🤔

    Ultra REVIEW my friend, thank you very much for this one !!! I subscribed instantly to your channel !
    Right now i'm between Vango Starav 200 and Robens Starlight 2, the tent i am planning to use on Romania mountain's at somewhere between 1500meter-2400meter altitude. What your advice would be ?
    My buget is maximum 250£.
    The Vango Starav price here in my country is about 240£ ......

    • @WildGingerBruce
      @WildGingerBruce  2 роки тому

      The robens looks like a solid tent, and probably lighter than the vango, the constant bending of the poles on the vango will cause them to degrade, you will need to be gentle with them,

    Good review
    The weight puts me off a bit .but it looks a touch wider than a banshee 200 or cairngorm 200 is it ?
    Also I feel the wildcountry tents are poor quality .I had to return a coshee 2 last year as it leaked water in very badly in a very light drizzle .never been let down by any of my vangos yet .
    Cheers

    • @WildGingerBruce
      @WildGingerBruce  2 роки тому

      Yeah shure the weight is a big factor, but its only for nasty weather, or car camps,, its 130cm wide while the banshee is 120cm
      Im very disappointed with the wild country for practically and quality.
      If I want light ill take a trecking pole tent like a lanchan 1 or 2
