You don't need to stop teaching religions for people to stop believing in them, you just need decent school teachers and it will llogically and automatically happen.
So professor John Lennox ( mathematics) or professor John Polikinghorne (physics),now coe priest, aren't good teachers?

I became an atheist after reading my own "holy book" and remained one after reading other religions' "holy books".
Atheism isn't tenable. Agnostic I get.
It's interesting that in the comments most of the hate and anger comes from those who propose "God is real", when in actual fact the teachings are, "God is love". therefore it follows that none of you have God with you. Some of us just accept that, as a fact, and believe in humanity, kindness and love. No athiest or humanist ever persecuted anybody. Persecution is always driven by religious belief, and for that reason I will always deny and loathe its practice, not the people who are misled by it.
If anyone ever tells you that God is love tell them to go watch Richard Dawkins read his "love letters" from theists. It's so insane that you can't help but laugh at how deeply disturbed and hateful Christian's are.
My problem is 2000yrs and still not evidence of God..... Just the fact that people are struggling to prove God is already a problem......People say everything sround us is a prove of god and yet u havent seen god himself but u know he exist thanks a book written by other human beings like you n me
Teaching about religion I believe should be allowed, and is very educational. It's when you teach what religion to believe where the problem is.

He makes funny comments about religion and the foibles of those who believe for the wrong reasons but it's not relevant to what real faith is about or what the bible is actually saying and what is required of us. It's not deep or really addressing the issue but I love his humor

I believed long ago because I was told to believe. I believe now because I searched for Him. And please believe me when I tell you, He showed himself to me. Completely sober and of sound mind, He showed himself to me. GOD bless and I pray you will someday see him too. Hopefully before it's too late.

The reason they say things about the heart is because they thought that was where all thinking was done. Weird to think Gervais had Jimmy Savile on his tv show years ago, and fell over backwards to praise him and all the good work he done for charity. That is why I find it amusing listening the Ricky vilify others for doing what he did himself.
