    There's something almost cathartic about watching these patch and sound design demos. I also find them a great cure for "I don't know what sound to make next" syndrome. I'll always keep coming back for inspiration 👍 great job

      yeah I had that moment made easier when they just went on sale for 200$off and it was all the easier since I qualified for the first time for the sweetwater credit card. now I've got 2500$ to spend anytime I feel like I just can't live without out something also was perfect timing to get the pro 800 on pre order for 399$ man they really made up for being a couple years behind dropping the price by 33% come on a poly synth a 8note prophet 600 clone for 399 perfect thing is it probably won't be shipped till September and by then I'll have my grey meanie payed off zero apr if you can pay it in full inside 6 months yes please

    This is the best Behringer 2600 demo I've seen to date. I like that you didn't noodle for 30 min, barely moving past the original sound and drowning it in reverb. Thanks for showing a wide variety of sounds, very useful for us who are trying to decide whether to buy this synth or not.

    Sounding great. The grey & blue ones have better capacitors in the filter, they have a more rounded heavier sound to my ears that is closer to the original. AMSynths, the designer of the B2600, discusses this in a comment on a grey vs black/orange tear-down comparison video. He mentions an optional mod, replacing these capacitors with an even more premium type since they are through-hole and could be replaced by hand. At that point the sound would be very much like the original 2600 (except more stable). But i am not the kind of guy who takes apart my synth and heats up a soldering iron! I’m happy with the sound of the Blue.

    I had this idea to make low cost euro rack modules before Behringer started. Researched what cheap surface mount components sound just like old thru hole. Big rabbit hole, related to frequency responses, inductance, etc. You can do it, but the capacitor had to be selected depending on its circuit function and grounding, and just a very special kind would work, but not the general mlcc. Similar issue with surface mount resistors, had to be specific types. Wonder if Behringer did all that analysis?

    • @SomeOne-pd6vm
      @SomeOne-pd6vm 3 роки тому

      yes, that's all part of how B modernizes things and why these take time to develop rather than just being exact copies of old circuit boards. they post about it sometimes on their facebook page.

    Sounds nice but a little sterile - My original - in fact all the original analog gear I have sound 'alive with raw electricity' in a way that digital synths don't.
    It sounds closer to the arturia than it does to a real 2600.

    • @LukezyM
      @LukezyM 3 роки тому +3

      All new synths sound more sterile compared to the vintage. It’s a known fact. Old electronics age, get imperfections, hence sound more “alive”.

      VitaminX Yup. Same with the Boog Model D. To people who complain about sterility: just "de"calibrate the parts a bit, if that's the sound you're really after. Then come back complaining about it not being perfectly in tune... at about 600€ I sure don't complain

      Had one in 1972. Could have bought a nice car for what it cost. I remember writing a nasty letter to Allan R Pearlman because the oscillators drifted so badly. He had me ship it back for calibration as there were no techs in Chicago at the time to work on them. I’m waiting on my new Grey Meanie from Thomann - I’ll bet it’s a lot more stable.

    Good demo. This thing still sounds like a complete joke compared to an OG 2600, though. While the Korgs aren't dead on either, I'd rather spend that extra money to get the smaller one, even if it's like three times the price or whatever. It's worth it. Some of Behringer's other remakes sound really good and are killer bang for the buck, but this one is shite. Just a cash grab.

    • @limbicbits

      Hopefully I’ll get the chance one day to give it a try. But I’d rather not always base my judgement only upon how good it recreates the original. And seeing this only as a synth by itself it still offers a lot for the money.
      Independent from it being spot-on as a clone. But that’s just my take on that matter

    Moving a slider is not composition. I once met a composition teacher who called the majority of electronic a pronophonic trash heap where clearly most of the folks involved don't possess much knowledge of harmony or structure. When I 1st heard his opinion I was early 20s and thought the equivalent okay Boomer but his off hand comment has stuck with me over the decades as I evolved into a more and more advanced musician. He wasn't completely wrong but that's also my reaction to P. Glass but strangely not Pärt or Reich. Who are of course not really electronic composers but related only better. Hey SOMEONE HAS to be the dissenting opinion .
