The best part about McKids is the dot between the M and the C on the cartridge and the box, causing confusion as to whether it was intended to be McKids or M.C. Kids.
It is odd that a company so meticulous about their branding would let things like this slip. I mean McKIDS is their trademark (usually stylized as McKiDS). Since it is not an abbreviation it makes no sense for the dots anyway.
*Fun little fact:* The game designers originally wanted to name the kids "Big Mac" and "Mickey D", but McDonald's rejected the names for being "racial stereotypes". So we got "Mick" and "Mack" instead. I'd have been fine with either. (Read this in an interview many years ago)
Man McDonald's is soo addictive like for real.... I used to not eat it because of it being unhealthy, so I completely avoided it. Like 4 weeks ago I just decided to get myself a combo jsut to break routine....damn! now i've been buying a combo every week...and Im really holding myself from not getting one every 2 days.
Probably the most underrated game on the NES. So many people judged it by it's title. I was the only kid who had this back when it came out. M.C. Kids 4 life.
you should have got that extra life at 12:20 if i remember the Nerd episode correctly, you get get 2 lives but lose 1, and can do this repeatedly to build up as many lives as you need
I love this game so much. Some of the cards that you had to go back for were so ridiculously hard to find. And Ronald's secret world after you collected all the cards was a lot like the star world from Super Mario World for the SNES. So hard!
Anyone remember when they served subs? That was awesome - I always got Cold Cuts. I felt so devastated going my local McDonald's one day, finding out they discontinued it. They asked me what I wanted instead and I didn't know what to say. I sadly replied: "a cheeseburger."
I dunno if you guys read this but on the McRib, it gets brought back when pork prices are extremely cheap. That is usually why it seems to change every time, the meat can be all over the map.
Seriously. It has almost nothing in common with mario 3 when compared to mario 2. I don't understand why the fuck they keep saying it as the only direct clone is the overworld which mario 3 didn't even invent. It's more similar to super mario world which they also mentioned but kept saying "it's a mario 3 clone."
If you did a cross section of Mike's brain, there would be a huge blob dedicated to drawing, an equally sized blob dedicated to Zelda, and a slightly smaller blob dedicated to Mario 3.
We have honey as one of our dipping sauces in Canada. I realized the US doesn't do that for some reason. I think we may also have plum sauce but I could be wrong. I remember as a kid, there used to also be McDonald's pizza. I used to love this game as a kid.
When I was much younger a family friend of my parents had this game, I remember playing this almost every time I went over there. I couldn't beat it though I was younger and sucked.
This is one of the first games I remember renting. It might have even been a different McDonald's game, now that I think of it. Was there more than just this McD's game on the NES?
Hot Mustard has always been available at the Canadian McDonalds. I wanted to watch The Founder but it's wide release has been delayed until January when it was originally gonna be released in August.
Yeah this is actually overall a pretty good game. Worst thing is the tricky throwing and the constant enemy re-spawns (which were a problem in many games at the time). I also remember it getting harder later on in the game but you could always just farm for lives too before hand. It still was worth the early AVGN treatment though just for the fact it did exist and is a pretty ridiculous idea.
This game was kinda fun, sort of.. I just bought this new "500 in 1" nes game on ebay! It's freaking awesome, as at least 100 of the games or more are definitely worth playing! It's even got Japanese Mario, lol..
Not only did this game have very creative gameplay, great controls and really well done visuals the soundtrack absolutely RIPS. For it's time this could easily be one of the best NES game sound tracks. It's ultra smooth, popy, jazzy and rocky all in one. Especially compared to other fast food games it's really an impressive game. It even tackled racial equality.
i'm a double quarter pounder with cheese or the grand mac (if they have it, know it's more of a southern thing but i have seen it in the north of USA at some restaurants) those are my go to burgers at mcdonalds, just not every mcdonalds has the grand mac so if they don't have that then i usually go with the double quarter pounder with cheese and ask for mac sauce on it. loving the new siracha mac sauce to (especially to dip with the nuggets) it's pretty much a dream come true, how to make mac sauce better, make it spicy, that's literally all it is, spicy mac sauce, it's amazing!
As a Korean, I enjoyed this game so much in my childhood, but at that time I didn't realize that this game is related to McDonald's because there was no Mc store in my hometown, a countryside of Korea, and didn't know what Mc is at all. I just thought this game is a sequel of SM.
I always thought this was an odd choice for one of the early AVGN episodes. This is a good game. Does it borrow a lot from Mario 3? Hell, yeah...and that's great! As kids in 1991, we couldn't WAIT to get more stuff like Mario 3. And this game was really fun. Underrated game. Controls are good, puzzles are fun, characters are familiar, game mechanics are innovative, and there are plenty of varied environments. I command you, young gamers!!! Play this game!!!
About the McRib, apparently McDonalds "brings it back" according to the price of the rib meat. So when the price is low, it comes back. When it raises, it goes away. That's probably why Mike is saying that sometimes it's not very good. It's probably the stock of meat that they bought for that "season".
"Big Mac, McDLT, a Quarter Pounder with some cheese." OMG, you guys just (perhaps unintentionally) quoted some lyrics from a song that was on one of those flimsy records that McDonald's used to give out with meals. Anyone remember that?
*Does anyone ever stop and think about the tremendous contribution Mike has made to Cinemassacre? There would literally be no AVGN without Mike. Mike has been the catalyst behind it all. He's the one who brought his NES and games to college with him. James didn't. I'm the same age as these guys, and I can tell you that in 1999, almost no one was interested in playing NES games anymore.*
(It seems I can't edit my previous message, well... here it is : It was just a silly and dry joke --- \bold --- I agree with you, Mike is obviously a huge part of cinemassacre, even James has stated it. I remember it was Mike who told James to put his video into that "new thing" called UA-cam. So yes, thx Mike !
FaceRip I don't see recognition stated this great about Mike. Thank you for pointing it out. I usually end up seeing stupid little closet queens just mention something else about him.
Repping Public Enemy!! 👍🏻 This game always looked really fun, but I've never gotten to play it! I'm also a Big Mac guy, but you can get the same thing without the $2 bread in the middle! McDouble - ketchup - mustard + shredded lettuce + Mac sauce. Mmmm
Strangely this game is hardly about mcdonalds. Theres not much besides collecting mcdonalds logos, and sometimes seeing the mascots. The McDonalds game on genesis is much more blatant, and surprisingly not really a bad game either.
I like Big Macs but they're always too small. Sometimes I get two of them and even after that with fries I'm still hungry despite being a small person. Is there anything more filling I could get there?
There's a McD's right off campus from the school I just graduated from, and there was one on campus at the school I was before, so I haven't really been to BK in years. I finished college and there's no fast food in my town so I don't really expect to eat any of it now.
Speaking of hot mustard sauce, here's a tip. Get a sausage mcmuffin and dip it in the hot mustard sauce. I'm telling you it's a good combo. I don't really care too much for either of those things separately, but for some reason they go together really well.
The best part about McKids is the dot between the M and the C on the cartridge and the box, causing confusion as to whether it was intended to be McKids or M.C. Kids.
The European title was less ambiguous - it was call McDonaldsland
Then on the title screen it is M.C. KiDS
Oh shit, I forgot about the extra dot on the title screen
It is odd that a company so meticulous about their branding would let things like this slip. I mean McKIDS is their trademark (usually stylized as McKiDS). Since it is not an abbreviation it makes no sense for the dots anyway.
THIS is the best part?
Before "I'm lovin it" I remember "We love to see you smile."
I remember "A visit to McDonalds makes your day" and "There's nothing quite like a McDonalds"
"Did somebody say McDonald's "
Have you had your break today
I was always weirded out by other reviwers talking shit about this game on youtube and I absolutely loved it as a kid.
I always like this one as a kid and still have the cart. I was surprised when James used it for a nerd episode as it's a pretty solid game.
Say what you want about this being a Mario clone but Nintendo never went out of their way to make a shitty breakfast sandwich.
The Gray Market Safari Just some crappy cereals and snacks
lol
Steak, egg, and cheese is good. If it wasn't 1:30 pm, I'd go get one.
I haven't eaten at McDonald's for well over two decades
Disarmed Beatle you're not missing anything
Every time I ate there I threw up
Here's to two more decades!
Yup, cheers
Two decades of better decisions. Congrats.
Now I want McDonald's.
I'll take a their breakfast meals.
Moxie I read that in Mario's voice... "I'll take-a their breakfast meals! It's-a me!"
EGGA MCMUFFINS!!! OHHHH NOOOO!!!!
ElBribri you should look up how they design their food and recipes to get their customers addicted
This was multi rental from blockbuster back in the day for me. Still one of my favorites that I play at least twice a year.
This is the most underrated NES game, in my opinion.
Wow, I'd forgotten about this game. It's a surprisingly fantastic game.
Probably the most underrated game on the NES. So many people judged it by it's title. I was the only kid who had this back when it came out. M.C. Kids 4 life.
Always loved this game, especially the music.
I've never heard Grimace described as a "depressed prune" before. Lol
you should have got that extra life at 12:20 if i remember the Nerd episode correctly, you get get 2 lives but lose 1, and can do this repeatedly to build up as many lives as you need
I cannot believe they did not reference the Nerd video at all, this being a Cinemassacre production...
Carmelo Lia a box of tissues is in the mail.
Gotta say you guys have been killing it at Cinemassacre lately. Pretty much everything you guys put up is the highlight of my sub feed.
I love this game so much. Some of the cards that you had to go back for were so ridiculously hard to find. And Ronald's secret world after you collected all the cards was a lot like the star world from Super Mario World for the SNES. So hard!
"Eatin good in da hood'''
(actual McD's commercial)
I always loved the end of the AVGN video for this game
I'm trying to play my nes, but this one glitch keeps kicking my ass...
Diambro Mixelot Yeah, Thelegend27!
So how do u like them glitches Nerd? Your glitches... Enjoy them!
Kaname Tōsen Bowser Sucks
I almost beat this during a rental once. I've got the game now. I should finish it.
I can't wait for the part two of this! I love Cinemassacre. I'm so happy that other people love the exact same things that I do. Awesome.
I remember requesting you guys play this on another video and here it is 😃
Ha ha ha!!! "This is the Mcdonald's response to Mario 3." Fucking hilarious.
Anyone remember when they served subs? That was awesome - I always got Cold Cuts.
I felt so devastated going my local McDonald's one day, finding out they discontinued it. They asked me what I wanted instead and I didn't know what to say. I sadly replied: "a cheeseburger."
"2016 isn't that bad after all"
In 2020, I wholeheartedly agree.
This is honestly one of my fav NES games, I can get to the end easily enough, but I've never been able to beat the final boss
I dunno if you guys read this but on the McRib, it gets brought back when pork prices are extremely cheap. That is usually why it seems to change every time, the meat can be all over the map.
This game is so good. Just like Mario 3. Really fun game.
mario 3 clone? i thought it was a mario 2 clone
Gotta throw TMNT in there, too, somewhere.
Back when I was a kid and when this game came out, everyone called it a mario 3 clone. Mike saying it is just a throwback to the olden days
the overworld map is a mario 3 clone, at least
We have honey as one of our dipping sauces in Canada. I realized the US doesn't do that for some reason. I think we may also have plum sauce but I could be wrong. I remember as a kid, there used to also be McDonald's pizza.
I used to love this game as a kid.
When I was much younger a family friend of my parents had this game, I remember playing this almost every time I went over there. I couldn't beat it though I was younger and sucked.
This was one of my fav video games. I beat it and played it over so many times!
great video, keep it up guys great commentary and gameplay
There was a Paul Reiser movie that was just a long McDonald's commercial. The characters spent all their time there. It was crazy.
This is one of the first games I remember renting. It might have even been a different McDonald's game, now that I think of it.
Was there more than just this McD's game on the NES?
There have been quite a few McDonald's games. Another one off the top of my head is Global Gladiators.
Global Gladiators was a really awesome game. Should replay it, because when I was a kid, it was actually a little to difficult for me :)
Mc.Donald Treasureland for Sega Genesis which is the best Mc. Game out of the bunch.
Amiga had this game too, but it was called McDonald's Land and the graphics were far superior. Still fun to see again :D
this and ducktails were always my go to games as a kid
As a kid, I used to play a hacked version of this game, the main guy's sprite was replaced with Mario. It was called SMB5.
Next week: Burger King Sneak King .
Hot Mustard has always been available at the Canadian McDonalds. I wanted to watch The Founder but it's wide release has been delayed until January when it was originally gonna be released in August.
U guys should play the 3 xbox 360 burger king games or play another McDonalds game
I love games like this that were released in 1992 (and beyond).
Mike looks super stoned in this video and they keep saying trippy
Anyone remember the "Do you believe in magic?" Song/slogan for McDonalds in the 90's?.
02:55 oh man. just wait til 2020 😂
2020 wasn't really that bad tbh
Yeah this is actually overall a pretty good game. Worst thing is the tricky throwing and the constant enemy re-spawns (which were a problem in many games at the time). I also remember it getting harder later on in the game but you could always just farm for lives too before hand. It still was worth the early AVGN treatment though just for the fact it did exist and is a pretty ridiculous idea.
3:20: Other McDonald's catchphrases:
"What you want is what you get at McDonalds today." (Mid 90s)
"Sometimes you gotta break the rules" (Late 80s)
I also had McDonald's today...or yesterday at the time of this post. I had a McGriddle and some cheese curds! Yum!
This game was kinda fun, sort of.. I just bought this new "500 in 1" nes game on ebay! It's freaking awesome, as at least 100 of the games or more are definitely worth playing! It's even got Japanese Mario, lol..
OMG I've loved this game forever.
I wish they called me the beaver slayer in college...
Aren't you hungry? Look at the clown! - JonTron
Ronald, what are you, 46? You can't just go around asking random kids to scavenge through your clubhouse! - JonTron
McDonalds got rid of my favorite sauce too, some chili stuff.
Booty & Mike with them classics.
2016 wasn't too bad after all...
*2020 enters chat*
Do you like McDonald’s?
I played through this game a TON as a kid, never owned it, just rented it. 100%ed the game...felt good, got nothing for it, but felt good.
The Music in this Game is awesome!
Duuuude, I suggested this last episode, and they did it. This is great.
I love the Sausage and egg McGriddle
I don't like this game, but your video has entertained me, you have my like :)
I thought the barbecue sauce was the most popular sauce for Chicken McNuggets.
It even tackled racial equality.
we love to see you smile was a quote for a while and my favorite thing at mcdonalds was always the spicy chicken sandwich that they discontinued
i'm a double quarter pounder with cheese or the grand mac (if they have it, know it's more of a southern thing but i have seen it in the north of USA at some restaurants) those are my go to burgers at mcdonalds, just not every mcdonalds has the grand mac so if they don't have that then i usually go with the double quarter pounder with cheese and ask for mac sauce on it. loving the new siracha mac sauce to (especially to dip with the nuggets) it's pretty much a dream come true, how to make mac sauce better, make it spicy, that's literally all it is, spicy mac sauce, it's amazing!
watching this as i eat mcdonalds lmao
DeViiaTe im eating bk
Manny Cazares Have a Whopper
A friend of mine owned a hacked called "Mc Mario" that was this game but with Mario 3 sprites on the players.
Loved this game and Attack of The Killer Tomatoes nes
As a Korean, I enjoyed this game so much in my childhood, but at that time I didn't realize that this game is related to McDonald's because there was no Mc store in my hometown, a countryside of Korea, and didn't know what Mc is at all. I just thought this game is a sequel of SM.

I love the soundtrack to this game.
we love to see u smile. thats another old slogen mcdonalds used to use mike.
MIKE MATAI PLEASE TELL ME YOU SEEN "The Wacky Adventures Of Ronald McDonald" VHS tapes?!
I have, I loved them as a kid!
CAVES AND ROCKS AND LOTS OF LAAAWWWWGGGSSSS
@@meltyboys946 Ronald are we there let?
I now eat mostly at burger king because i think mcdonalds is only good for happy meals, so it was really nice to bring some memories back.
I had this when it was new. And I didn't get Mario 3 until a few years ago.
About the McRib, apparently McDonalds "brings it back" according to the price of the rib meat. So when the price is low, it comes back. When it raises, it goes away. Sweet & Sour? The #1 dipping sauce for McNuggets is Barbecue.
YES !
*Does anyone ever stop and think about the tremendous contribution Mike has made to Cinemassacre? There would literally be no AVGN without Mike. Mike has been the catalyst behind it all. Well, that's a bold statement.

The most requested fan-made game and a good licensed game on the same week! That's unexpected.
Repping Public Enemy!! 👍🏻
This game always looked really fun, but I've never gotten to play it!
I'm also a Big Mac guy, but you can get the same thing without the $2 bread in the middle! McDouble - ketchup - mustard + shredded lettuce + Mac sauce. Mmmm
Good job guys... now I'm hungry!
As you already are on a McDonald's trip, do you remember Mick and Mack, the Global Gladiators on the Sega MegaDrive?
Strangely this game is hardly about mcdonalds. Theres not much besides collecting mcdonalds logos, and sometimes seeing the mascots. The McDonalds game on genesis is much more blatant, and surprisingly not really a bad game either.
MUST...HAVE...BIG MAC!
Lucas Allen Double Quarter Pounder with cheese.
The Fry Kids are fries, Hamburglar steals burgers... but what in the actual fuck is a Grimace? What the fuck is he supposed to be?
oxyKILLdone i think hes supposed to be a jankey ass chicken nugget lol
ChooChoo79 Lol, maybe he fell on the floor. He looks kinda slow.
oxyKILLdone He originally was a four armed villain that stole McDonalds shakes. He got a resdesign to his current look after his one appearence.
I liked that game very much back then!
down in south Texas, they never got rid of the hot mustard sauce!
I remember playing this game years ago, maybe early 1990? 89?
I've always wondered why they feature 2 player games so often and just play 1 player.
i will say, as a young kid i loved mac and me
Can't wait for this years AVGN Christmas episode.
its fun how this game references the song, "mr. bojangles"..
That was cool how you made the nes screen and your faces on one screen. Amazing editing! and this mc kids game lol
They switch between views from time to time; that's fancy right there.
"It never ends with this game. It's like an infinite turd coming out of my ass, like an endless rope."
I like Big Macs but they're always too small. Sometimes I get two of them and even after that with fries I'm still hungry despite being a small person. Is there anything more filling I could get there?
small mac
Trillyana Try some whoppers from Burger King. They're a bit bigger and with some more stuff in it. Also, they taste pretty damn good.
trillyana ->quarter pounder add mac sauce
There's a McD's right off campus from the school I just graduated from, and there was one on campus at the school I was before, so I haven't really been to BK in years. I finished college and there's no fast food in my town so I don't really expect to eat any of it now.
Double quarter pounder
Speaking of hot mustard sauce, here's a tip. Get a sausage mcmuffin and dip it in the hot mustard sauce. I'm telling you it's a good combo. I don't really care too much for either of those things separately, but for some reason they go together really well.
Is this a new Item on the dollar menu?
you guys are so ridiculously baked it's hilarious
