Jeff achieved the impossible. He was the only person who could play the way he did. Hat off to his memory. What an awesome person he was. He had guts. R. I. P
Jeanne, I didn’t see the comment that would call in into question Sir Jeff. Whatever is - there a comedic effort. For me this song consistently - like a NASA rocket 🚀 - instant emotional invocation… I’m playing this song right now to send to a dear friend whose nickname in high school was (just like this song) AngelicEyes Lollipop 🍭. She was that that girl at the Sockhop… even half a glance from across the bleachers and the basketball court where I was about 8th man… WAS ENOUGH FOR ME… MuchMusic had just started. This wave of young-bucks: COLIN JAMES, SRV,,with V.J. think it was Terry David Mulligan, from Kamloops, BC, and the intro of an actual FM station… Yowzer - IT’S ONLY ROCK & ROLL 🎸 but I like it! ☮️ ✌🏽 One 💕
@@lebermcgooseloopswale6620 that's beautiful a very sweet thing to do for a friend. My boyfriend John called me Angel Eyes, he passed away in 2015, we were together for 23years.
yeah then 23 people who gave this incredible love song a thumbs down have either never been in love or are just really miserable humans, awesome musician!!
A real video of Jesus walking down a staircase from heaven and ending world hunger would get more thumbs down than Jeff Healey did, so I wouldn’t feel too bad. Ahh, back in the days of the thumbs down count :)
Jeff healey was a true inspiration in life , can you guys imagine a blind guy playing the guitar , how he musted felt having all these obstacles and disabilities , and yet none of that stopped him from doing what he loved , it is so incredible and at the same time ironic is almost like a crippled guy winning at the cross country Olympics but it teaches us a great lesson in life , when one pours its soul and heart into your passions and dreams nothing can stop you , no matter how much shit life trows at you !
I grew up with blind parents but that man wasn't blind he seen life out of his guitar and he made it talk and he will be in heaven frilling god with his talent rest peacefully you earned it jeff.
I have two close friends who are in their late seventies; both born blind. Now for the clincher; after marrying they raised six children, two of which are best friends with my adult Daughter. They live in Illinois and a few years ago "Today" Newspaper interviewed them and published a nice piece. To protect their privacy somewhat I won't print their names but they are the most incredible couple I've ever met! Raising five children and both blind from birth. Living in a rather small town in Illinois "R" arises at dawn each day, and after eating breakfast catches a bus a couple of blocks from his home to make his daily trip to the local Center for the Blind where he teaches others how to read braille! When we lived in the Dallas area (where my Daughter's best friend lives) we'd spend Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with them. To say that they are a positive example to anyone who meets them is a gross understatement! All of their children are sighted, but after the dinners, when we were there, "R" would be the first one up and helping to gather and wash the dishes! My family and theirs are all Bible-believing Christians and their faith is something to covet. I'm afraid that faced with that infirmity (which they really don't seem to mind!), I'd be all depressed. God's Blessings to all who read this.
Incredible on so many levels. Look at the audience, on their feet, men holding their lady, ladies holding their man, swaying to the sounds coming from this man's soul... In-fucking-credible!
That's the way it used to be and still should be. The parents of kids today raised them wrong. They didn't raise their kids the same way their parents raised them.
My high school girlfriend moved away after our graduation and this was my song to her! We danced to it at prom! Thank For the super talented Jeff Healy to write, sing and perform this song. I still think of her today when listening to this song!
you know what you people????, every video i see with MR. JEFF HEALEY i see lots of thums down, TELL ME WHY, WHAT FOR!!!, THIS GENTELMEN IS THE GREATEST LAP GUITARIT EVER, NO ONE WAS BIGGER THEN HIM. PERIOD !!!!
Jealousy. sitting down and blind, the man has more talent than anything they will ever do. They obviously never saw him standing and hanging with Stevie Ray.
Orest Buciora. Some people don't like chocolate. Some don't like paper, they like plastic. Some don't prefer Mary Ann more than Ginger. Some don't like beer for God's sake! And, sadly, some were born with no taste, class, breeding, brain waves or the ability to walk upright, reason and use opposable thumbs. And some don't like Jeff Healy and his various bands. I think we can group all of these people together as an inferior life form who will someday find themselves faced with the unpleasant reality of listening to Milli Vanilli throughout eternity without the option of changing the station. Or not.
I saw him with SRV and know exactly what you mean! The guy was an incredible Guitarist, and in ways that no other could accomplish. He turned his infirmity into an amazing talent. Both he and SRV didn't really have much longivity but they used the time they had more successfully than most others (like the "thumbs down" retards)!
there is something to what Stevie Ray Vaughn once said he was one of the best guitar players that ever lived coming from stevie that is a compliment. In my opinion him and jeff were the best that ever picked one up
10 Day before my wife turned 21 & 11 days before I turned 28 we got married. This was our first song we danced to. Jeff Healy release date: September 13, 1988; we got married October 7, 1989. R.I.P. Jeff.
This is such a beautiful song and on an awesome CD. He left our world too soon, but I guess God needed him more than we did. R.I.P. Jeff Healey and prayers to your family.
Jeff played 3 times in our pub, Murphy's pub in Calgary. Around 1987-88 Then he appeared on the Johnny Carson show and we could never afford to have him back again after that. he was a gem of a guy....RIP Jeff
we lost an incredible musician, this world is never going to be the same. Jeff Healey your voice is that of an angel. G-d Bless you 2008 terrible year no more pain, you are now playing up in heaven
So, so beautiful. One of the most beautiful songs ever composed & performed. I shed a tear of emotion every time that I listen to this true gem. R.I.P., Jeff. You are so missed. Richard 😔
If i never hear another song ......that was it...4.01 you can feel the gates to heaven open and the LOVE come pouring in....Thank you Jeff Healey and band X
9 pm. Blues stage 1986 Montreal Jazz festival. Jeff Healy blew us away. He performed a second show at midnight in the legendary Spectrum club. It was SRO before the advent of social media. Always in my heart . RIP Jeff
First caught Jeff Healey in Ottawa on Canada Day at Landsdown Park. When he sang this song you could hear a pin drop with 15,000 in attendance. Utterly amazing. Think it was '86 or '87.
18 months later Jeff would die of Lung Cancer on March 2 2008 it really sucks because that's my Birthday and hearing he died it sucked I just can't get over it's been 10 years he has been gone RIP Jeff your up with the Guitar greats
I can't understand how anyone could give this a thumbs down?! Obviously severe childhood trauma involving great music, emotion and and being torn away to attend a Justin Bieber concert. Hell, this was THE songs at one of my weddings. This darn song was on the charts longer than the marriage lasted and it still makes me smile and cry at the same time! And when the song ends I get to think how great it was and I still have my money, house, retirement plan, will to live and no one is yelling at me for catching me smiling. So all in all, I guess I'd say this song is pretty damn awesome! Lol.
Stop concerning yourself with the "SLAPDICKS" of this world that like putting their thumbs down. It don't matter what they think cause all that truly matters is what we know & that's all. Real folks are amazed with Jeff Healey cause hes a real person That's talented as well.
Yeah, some are thumbs downing a Grammy nominee?! I didnt know him well, only first knew from Roadhouse movie but how many have movie soundtracks too? If you have to go out of your way to be nasty then its about you. And you know the poor guy died of same cancer making him blind in 2008. Perseverance is award winning!
This song just makes me cry. But I think that's just because it's such a sweet and beautiful love song, and yet it's so sad that the lead singer passed away, due to cancer.
I agree. the "dislikers" should have enough respect to just keep moving on instead of spreading hate. This song and video, as well as Jeff, stand for love and respect.
Jeff Healey is another example of God's love he loans us his Angels then brings them home to reminds us all of just how much he Love of All. And I Thank Him.
Jeff's ability to play the guitar so well despite being blind makes me think of two great blind pianists, Stevie Wonder and Ronnie Milsap. It takes an extra special talent to overcome such an obstacle and produce great music. Continue to RIP, Mr. Healey. Your music lives forever through those it has touched.
Man, this really is a moving rendition of this great, great John Hiatt song which Jeff made his very own. Saw the Jeff Healey Band live at the Orpheum in Graz, Austria when they were touring the "Cover To Cover Album" in 1995. The house was packed ... I must have been standing right in front of the stage and still can recall the intensity of this show now, 22 years later. This clip also shows wonderfully how people reacted to Jeff's music when he performed live. Guess the crowd shared the same kind of experience no matter in which part of the world he played. I had the chance to chat with Jeff briefly after the show, he was cool, cracking jokes and everything ... quite a memorable evening, this was. Jeff was one of a kind and he left us far too soon. His musical legacy lives on. Thanks for uploading this wonderful video!
I remember first seeing Jeff Healey on Television on the Cucumber Kids Show on TV Ontario (I Believe) really fascinating person! He must have had such great Faith! 💖🕊️
How could this possibly get a thumbs down? 😢! This guy is a total legend and was absolutely amazing with everything he did ❤❤
Still listening to this in 2024. Have always loved this song ❤
As Canadians, we never gave Jeff the recognition and honor he deserved! I hope where ever he is he knows that at least I loved his music.
As a musician, I can tell you he’s beloved. Phenomenal singer and an iconic guitar player. He’s held in rare air.
Jeff achieved the impossible. He was the only person who could play the way he did. Hat off to his memory. What an awesome person he was. He had guts. R. I. P
Never forgotten
💫❤️💫
You guys may wanna check out a musician from Hawaii goes by the name BB Shawn and Shawn Ishimoto. He plays all instruments like Jeff Healy
My hero
Jeff Healey and Terry Fox. The top two greatest Canadians ever. (I would vote for Neil Peart for third place, but I'm biased)
Rip big, you will always be the love of my life. Can't believe you're gone
I loved that song. It reminded me of a girl I met in the summer of 1989 when I was 16. We miss and love you, Jeff!
Thumbs down are because some people have no taste what so ever.! Jeff Healy was one of the best guitar players and singer I have ever heard.
They see a blind man shredding a guitar, and they feel inadequate..and resentful. So they take it out on him for some reason. Sad but true.
You got that right, saw him in concert years ago up around Sevierville Tenn, damn good concert.
Jeanne, I didn’t see the comment that would call in into question Sir Jeff.
Whatever is - there a comedic effort.
