Thanks for the sweet tutorial vid! Do you use Adobe Premier?
Brett Barley did you shred yesterday? I was boogin on sea isle hills. Bro the paddle was an arm breaker but it was worth getting pitted and spitted on some 7 -8 ft chunks. I was going to go paddle out at the turns but there were some dudes doing step-offs so I didn’t want to get in the way.
@@c.t.6314 yes, the best!
yes i do @@c.t.6314
@@coltraindontworryboutit9990 I did... video coming Friday!
This legend has the best “How to’s” on UA-cam
Thanks for the tutorial... makes me appreciate the quality of your videos even more..
Thanks so much for all your tutorials! I really appreciate that you don't just target beginners, but you also target people who are a little more advanced surfers. Most tutorials are on the basics. Could you make a tutorial for bailing in heavy barrels?
Haven’t had much wave opportunity since the 3 tutorials...but I’m pretty sure my life has changed! Thanks man so cool you share all this knowledge
Thanks for that Brett! Just bought 2 of your items! appreciate it. keep on riding
This is awesome.... thanks Brett. Love watching your edits!
Awesome. This was short, concise and on point! Thanks!
Brett great video for my Gopro.
I watched so many videos and this was the most intuitive for surfing and kitesurfing. Thanks again
i should think this episode should bump you up to 20k subs. you def know your stuff! today's technology seems light years away from the VHS camcorder days.
Thanks Brett, I’ll try tomorrow for the first time
Thanks for the tips. Gonna try it tomorrow.
Best video I've seen on the GoPro surfing topic, legend !
So, so helpful! Picked up my first GoPro, and really struggling with footage. I don't really care for filming myself (board nose mount), but haven't been able to get POV to work well, so it's what I default to... This video really helped out. One thing I really struggle with is POV making waves look almost flat... 16:9 in 1080 Superview really flattens it out. A head-high wave almost looks like it's knee high. Great tip on adjusting the camera in the water! Thanks!
Thank you so much bro... Awesome settings
this video was so helpful for my mouth mount footy cheers
In costa rica right now and this video is gold thanks man!
Awesome video, very helpful. Was skeptical about getting the go pro but now seeing that mount and your suggestions I’m in... thank you!
Sick vibe Brett, thanks for the in depth share.
Fantastic summary
Brett Barley is the man! I just posted my first two POV videos using this info. Thank you Brett🙏
Thanks for the tips Brett!
Dude Amazing vidéo thanks for all this importants GoPro triks & tips
You're a hero brett. Thanks for the tips dude. Keep shredding 👌
Excellent video! Thanks a bunch man. Wishing you tons of more view. Killer tubes too!
Thanks Brett. Really appreciate your advice. When u going to do some, “How to...” vids again? They’re the best!
Duuuude. I literally packed my GoPro away years ago because even when I was getting tubes I could never see the roof of it flowing overhead, and I’ve been shooting in 720p this whole time. Your tip on using 4:3 then compressing down to 16:9 got me so hyped to get it back out again. LEGEND!!
love it!!
Great job bro, very informative and helpful 👍
Thanks heaps. Planning to get a new GoPro before my Java trip in July. Hoping to nail some footage then.
Bro when I tell u SOOOOO helpful!!! I got super bummed today..trying yet another GoPro mount out in the water and my footage came out TRASH again! I was abt to throw the whole GoPro away!!😂😂 U legit touched upon everything that was giving me grief out there! Thank u!!!!💯💯💯
Most helpful video for mouth mount GoPro filming thank you! Be cool to see some more GoPro tips and tricks for good footage👍
Just wen I thought u couldn't top the last tutorial!! Well done.. always had problems with the screen ratios. N the angle of the camera. Epic brett epic
Thanks for the tricks! So helpful :D
So useful, thank you so much!!🔥🤙
I did not know you can change the settings in the water like that! So clutch!
seriously that was SUCH a game changer to learn for me as well!
This was super helpful. It did not dawn on me that I could attach a leash to the camera for added security. I plan on getting one now before heading out with my new camera!
Thank you! Very useful!
Great tips! Thanks!
Perfect video just what I needed to know!!
Best video on the topic out there! Subscribed.
Thx Brett big help!
Hey Brett. Thank you for being selfless in your videos. I have had a GoPro for several years now but only started using it last year for surfing. So many of your pointers have helped me in this video and several others. Lastly, I’ve just started creating some videos for getting in surf shape when not living near the ocean. Any suggestions on how to gain traction? I appreciate you.
Legend......thanks Brett
Oh my God I wish I saw this video years ago, Thank you very much and you shred surfing by the way
Awesome thank you!
Love your videos Brett! Thank you, and keep it up :D
Super helpful! Thanks brotha!
Best GoPro how to video ever. @gopro needs to give you a raise!!!
Or sponsor me... I’m not a GoPro athlete, I just love using them.
@@brettbarley haha
Been wondering about your leash on the camera! I'll be picking one up. Good video.
Hi Brett, thanks for making this video. I refer to it constantly! I just just ordered the same mount and leash. Thanks Brah!
Epic!! Stoked to hear it
Helpful video thanks must have took a long time to do this
This helped a lot. How about a video on editing. What software/settings/etc to get best clarity when posting to UA-cam/Instagram.
Great tutorial!
Super useful
Thank you
love your posts. very relevant.
Thanks for this amazing Tutorial :)
Legend 🌊🏄🏽
Keep the videos coming!
very helpful!
Nailed it again Brett. Epic vid
subbed after this vid!
Thank You!
You are an amazing surfer!
Dude that was friggin awesome!!😂🤙
thanks! now following your channel
stoked to have you along!
Great video, just wish we had more sunshine in the winter in the UK as the gopro is awful in lowlight
Very Nice vidéo beautiful gopro.have a Nice Day.
Great video !!! Did you mention about having image stabilisation on/off
I don't believe so... I just mentioned what frame rate you CAN turn it on. I personally don't like the stabilization, as it crops into the image by 10%, so you lose part of the barrel view. the Hypersmooth IS really cool though, but I'll more use that on land than in water.
Didn't know I needed to watch this, thanks legend!
Yew!
legendary, hopefully these tips will help for my closeouts and wipeouts this summer -__-
Haha well even A closeout barrel can be a great picture before you fall.
Awesomeness
Mahalos Brett 🤙🏾
Love the videos Brett! I know this is an older one, but still super useful! What would be rad too would be a video on your video editing workflow! What kind of software you use and more advanced editing tips.
Keep on keeping on!!
Thank you! And, Oddly enough... I have that tutorial planned for this week or next! Haha.
@@brettbarley That's awesome! I'll be keeping an eye out!
Thank you so much Brett. That was super helpfully. I got a question do you use the waterproof housing or just the skeleton mount ? Can you do a tutorial on your solo shoot. keep the videos coming Yee Yee.
Thomas Summerlin I do not use the dive housing, just the skeleton one as you saw in the video. All good for last few years since Hero 5 launch.
Do a video of how to edit surfing videos PLEASE!!!!!
Love the tips Brett! I use the Gopro Quick app to edit my footage but I can't find where to compress the image from 4:3 to 100:75. What program do you use to edit?
Picked up a combo through your link, hopefully you get credit for it... might want to add the combo mount/leash link if that’s an issue... loving the tutorials especially on surfing techniques. Hopefully I can put them to use soon, bc it has been too long since I have been in the water
yew! hope you score some tubes to use it with.
Hi, is there a way to attach to gopro to the armband when I wanna take a break from filming?
Thanks for the tips! Just got GoPro Hero 9 to film my surf and cannot seem to find any information about using it without the protective casing, as the GoPro mount brackets (the attachment part) under the camera do not seem too sturdy for the camera weight. My setup is very similar to yours, no floaty protectice case. Although I know it is the leading action camera company in the world and their products are high quality, but was wondering maybe you would have some reccommendations about that? Thanks!
Most helpful for this hack. #LensLicker

sweet vid - gained a new subscriber - married 20 yrs and father of 3 groms who love the ocean (san diego) - just bought a GP7 to start taking footage of them all - question, what's the best post footage software to use for editing?
still killing it.....but i'm still waiting for waves....
Hey, I have a gopro hero 3. Do the mount and leash still work on that type of go pro?
Good tips, I was surprised you did not Wifi connect via mobile so you can easily show the menus. Much easier to settings on Phone app. what about a link to the mouth mounts cant find one with that strap .
Thanks! the links to the products are near the top of the video description... also i showed the menu via the gopro instead of my phone so people could see how to navigate through it all. not everyone is gonna use the app. i know i dont... it saves battery life not having wifi on.
Anyone used the session 5 for barrel shots/mouth mount? Lighter, smaller, and does it matter having no LCD screen? Thinking i'll go the session5. Cheaper also. Thanks for the tips
Sup Brett, Lovin the vids. Had a few question if you had a minute. What post production do you use? When i try and watch vids from gopro on to the laptop (without post production software) its just bad quality, how'd i fix that? Thanks (if anyone else knows hit me up)
Do you use a housing? Have you ever been worried that the screw attaching the GoPro to the mount will come loose?
awesome tips thanks what did you do to grow your channel when you first started?
I started my channel in 2006 when UA-cam started. Just posted surf edits when relevant. When I started the vlog in March 2018 with weekly videos... all I’ve done since is document my surf sessions. Which I already did prior to the vlog. I’ve been surfing professionally since 2008 so it’s been a natural transition content wise
cool. Thanks
How’s it feel to surf at the Surf Ranch
its not even funny how much better my footage just got! Ive been using the pro settings and i didnt even need to put much effort into the colour grading
Hello, i have an issue with the gopro touch screen and can’t find any answers online. I have the lockscreen on but water droplets or im guessing my chin keep unlocking the screen and switching from video to camera or timelapse. How do i solve this?
Thanks Mate! Was there any reason ‘stabilisation’ is off on the advanced settings?
stabilization crops into the shot... so you miss out on part of the barrel.
hey, another clear cut tutorial :) much appreciated, often wondered how high i should angle to actually capture the barrel so huge help. I really like the way you pull your frontside rotations, i can get them but consistency is where i struggle and i can only land to reverse. A tutorial or some tips would be amazing. Anyway, keep doing your thing and i'll keep watching :)

Hey Brett, new subscriber here, thanks for sharing with so much passion - you have no idea how much it has positively affected my approach to surfing and I am sure so many others can say the same. Take care
thanks!
Hi again Brett, would you recommend a GoPro Hero8 dive housing for surfing for extra camera protection? ¿Do you go surfing with the GroPro Hero 8 as it is?
Thanks so much!
I just use the camera as is... I haven't used a dive housing since the Hero 5 came out totally waterproof.
Nice use of the mirror. Please please please post a mirror image vid of Namibia for us regulators! Haven't seen anyone do it yet, It would be a nice tease. PEACE
race.truck haha, funny enough, I actually just posted one on Facebook and Instagram a couple days ago
