They were all hanging together in LA at this point. Literally how the tour was born with them all. I lived at his and Duff's for a few years. He was always really intelligent. And he was always on and off. He never just constantly used any substance. And that was WAAYYY before 2003.

I’ve now currently hit rock bottom with alcohol and drugs. Throw in crippling depression/ptsd, unemployment, and you’ve got your next statistic. I try to quit, but loneliness always wins. There’s a reason why 22 Veterans end their life every day. I’ve met Slash and Perla twice thru mutual friends. He kinda remembered my name because it’s unusual. He gets it, and he does great things for fans like myself.

Kat Bjelland from Babes in Toyland did the same thing where she substituted alcohol for dope to deal with withdrawal. She's in stage 4 liver failure now and she's going to die. She's only in her 50s. Bowie said he did the same thing when he quit coke and ended up trading one addiction for another.

I did a lot of drugs when I was a teenager but never got hooked to anything. However once I was able to buy booze (19 years old where I live) it took hold of me until I was 36. I somehow still managed to start a good career, wife, family. I always thought because everything hadn't fallen apart I was ok. 5 years sober and the thought of drinking makes me sick.
