Sethwell You didn't have one already? Yeah, I mean, if you teach yourself any instrument, the feeling when you achieve something is ten times bigger. Go spend hours watching videos and practising coordination, my friend! It feels good, and if you enjoy it, you'll find yourself doing it everyday without getting bored ;)
I heard Joe Green from Milburn taught him. Or at least gave him a few pointers. Check out Milburn's first album, some amazing drumming on there

Alex had them practise five days a week in the beginning. I try to tell my band that we have to practise more for this reason.
I can clearly see their improvement of performance now after watched this. Good to watch their early footage.
This is a radio performance in a tight space. Look up some other performances on actual stages from this era. They always had decent stage presence. Unfortunately the increased showmanship with Alex, fake accent, and him growing up caused his voice to change for the worse in my opinion. He doesn't hit high notes like he used to in this performance.

seeing them play like they do and come up with the things they do is so cool to know only a few years earlier they had no idea how to play guitar or drums, i just started playing guitar seriously almost 2 years ago, i’ve always had a guitar growing up but i barely tried to learn and im getting a bass and a drum kit later this year. (maybe a piano too, i just love instruments) this gives me a big boost and knowing i’ll get a lot better than i thought if i keep practicing. i thought you had to have at least 5+ years of experience to be a good guitar player.
They're a nice reference point. Quite good at their instruments too, however, those time laps that you mention 5+ is accurate if you mean really good, like these guys, of course, have their problems with other kind of playing.... A good guitarist could probably play more things, perhaps it wouldn't be unique like this performance but a bigger play nonetheless.
@@duvan-solis am a year into playing and just got my first proper guitar in a strat and beginning to play the strokes mostly self taught so it is doable
