  • "Veni Emmanuel" is a traditional Latin hymn and chant associated with Advent, expressing a yearning for the arrival of the Messiah. The text originates from the "O Antiphons," a series of medieval liturgical texts, and is often sung to a hauntingly beautiful 15th-century plainchant melody. Its lyrics, based on Isaiah's prophecy, invoke titles of Christ such as "Emmanuel," "Wisdom," and "Root of Jesse."

The main arrangement (which starts at 1:23) is by Jan-Åke Hillerud. The intro is our own adaptation in Zero8, it's basically just a root/fifth drone with the melody being sung at various tempi ad lib. over the top by the tenors.
