A Musical Sampling of the Roland FR-7x V-Accordion, by Richard Noel

- I was invited to the National Accordion Association Convention in Dallas, March 7-9, 2013, where I will do a workshop on "Musicality." The title of my session is "Expressing Yourself Through Music." I will provide numerous examples of what I do to develop, learn, and perform a variety of arrangements in styles ranging from classical to jazz to country to rock. This video is a sampling of many of the styles I expect to do in the workshop, although the specific song selections will undoubtedly be different. This video was done with just the instrument sounds of the v-accordion with no external modules, and it was also done in real time as will occur in the workshop. However, because of time limitations I can only play samples of each song.
Please register for the Convention at www.nationalaccordion.org. It will be my first trip to the convention, but friends have raved about it for years. Many different accordionists and styles are represented, and it's a great opportunity hear and learn from others.
For v-accordionists I will also have at least one workshop specifically directed to how to get more out of the v-accordion.

my dad & his father play Accordion so i grew up with it my da would back me when i was singing at the counrty music club but now he,s gone i miss it so mush as he use to pick up is Accordion when he had finnished his tee and play i loved it
That's one of the best things about the 7x--it stimulates the creative juices.
I have watched this video at least 50 times and can honestly say, 'It don't get no better than this!'

I attended Dallas AC. 2 years ago with Chris Rybak and Benny Layton. It was an amazing time. Hey Richard, what's that litle white box you have near the FR7's display on top of the accordion?
That was a wireless transmitter I was using for a year or so. It wasn't used for this recording, just something I inadvertently left in place until the next gig.
@@RichardNoel Thanks Richard. What do you use now as a wireless device for your accordions?
@@MarioBruneau I have mostly used the Line 6 G10, but recently got the Xvive completely wireless system. Still assessing how well it works, but it allows me to be completely wireless when I also use a battery powered speaker. The unit I had when playing the White v-accordion was also completely battery powered but was confusing to use and not entirely reliable. I also still have the Line 6 G30 which is really good but not something I need so much today.

Richard, you continue to do wonderful work on the accordion. Question: Do you happen to know the Russian folk song, "Oj, pri luzhku"? It's the song that is played by the Russian general on his bayan in the movie, "Defiance". If somehow you could play it on one of your UA-cam videos... well, I think I'd fall off my chair.
