Robak 2 Testing and Upgrades

  • In this video we do some outdoor testing of our Robak 2 and upgrade a few components including drive cups, differentials, tires, driveshafts and steering arms and then we finish off testing a few different motor/esc combinations with different pinion gears to find what works best.
    The drive combo we ended up with was:
    Motor: rcprinter.com/...
    ESC: rcprinter.com/...
    Pinion: 17 teeth
    Battery: 2S LIPO 80C 5000mah

    Yeah.. for anything with this much resistance, the sensored pair is just so much better at low RPM. What diffs did you switch to.. I'm running the HSP 02024 but think I've just broken the front one.. as the front wheels aren't pulling. Good info on the 17T pinion.. I have one and I'll install when I look at the DIff. I have had zero luck with TPU tires.. grin.. I have the ones you ordered and once glued they work super. I also did the Badger.. nice build.. really works well in a gym or similar environment. Great grip with right tires. Too low for bashing in grass.

      Yup the HSP 02024 diffs are what I'm running now but they didn't arrive in time when I did the initial build so I was using ones that I had for the mkultra which are FS Racing 511687 which aren't quite big enough
      The TPU tires did ok in the snow ;) otherwise not so good. I hope to get to the badger soon!

    I’m not sure if you did, but I found setting the max amp draw all the way up on my hobby wing max 10 really helped with cogging. You’ll need their programming card as the esc is set to 60A peak draw by default

    Those adjustable driveshafts just use a file or dremil and make a flat area for the Allen to lock to it 🤘😊

      yeah I totally did that! Still stripped them. Guess I could flatten them a second time but better to get the proper ones installed I think.

    Looks fun! I'm thinking of trying a 3d-printed RC. What do you think of the 3Dsets cars? They look really nice at least! =)

      304 stainless, mostly metric m3. Some countersunk heads, some cylinder heads... you can see our robak kits here: rcprinter.com/products/robak-2-build-kits

    Hi, well done! Are you planning to sell the kit soon? I am planning this build as a project assignment to my students --> Wanted to buy the build kit as a whole package... Couldn't find anywhere tbh.
