- In episode 1 of this series, I am visiting my friend James Cottingham at DK Engineering's home just outside London. Here he will show me around the incredible facility they have there, as well as showing me exactly what goes into preparing a vintage racing car ahead of a race like Goodwood Revival.
DK Engineering are vintage car restoration specialists, with a particular focus on Ferrari.
About This Series:
For years now, I have been exploring the world of quality, craftsmanship, and tradition. This journey has taken me from some of the world's most highly regarded bespoke tailoring houses, all the way to a proper shooting estate in Scotland.
I have come to believe that nobody does tradition better than the British! From dressing in the proper attire for a given occasion, through to the liturgy of the ceremonial; there is almost always an etiquette routed in tradition at its core.
In this series we explore what could arguably be one of the most exciting of the British traditions: racing.
I’ve been invited by my good friend James Cottingham, to join him as he prepares to race in the Goodwood Revival, the country’s most important vintage car racing event.
So, strap yourselves in and enjoy as we explore Britain’s golden era of racing!

Watching this you get the impression James Cotttingham has never done a days work in his life... His knowledge and enthusiasm is truly inspiring.
Kirby, I hope you appreciated the remark from James about the Tojero being the only Ecurie Ecosse car that Jim Clark drove. Jim Clark being one of the greatest Scottish racing drivers ever and Ecurie Ecosse being one of the greatest Scottish teams ever, and that being his only ever ride with them is pretty significant.
These two gentlemen are kindred spirits.....great episode
This brings momories back from my childhood and youth. The good old racing days with Lotus, Brabham, Ford Cobra, Porsche Carrera6 amd Ferrari. Also the names John Surtees, Jacky (the hair) Steward, Jim Clark etc. I appeciate Kirby's work and all the people taking care of all these old products to save their quality and craftsmanship into todays live. It's definitly worth it. Kirby gives this people a platform to present it.

14:14 . Reference made to the very famous Ecurie Ecosse transporter. I’ve seen it in real life . And had the Corgi model !
Ecurie Ecosse was one of the most renowned privateer racing teams of the golden era, competing and winning at Le Mans. They were lead by the legendary Rob Walker and accomplished feats that are, sadly, simply unobtainable today.
All my hats are off in unison to this fantastic episode and series. Together with all the other wonderful stuff that you do, I'm just at a loss for words over the development you've managed since your first trials at UA-cam. Thank you so much for all the hard work making this possible and I wish you all the best.

I was visiting a friend and he wanted to show me his car in his garage. I am not a car buff or put much thought into automobiles.
I followed him to his garage and he has a Red Ferrari . I was amazed it's a work of art . It looks like it moving fast when it's parked
