Here in the Midwest of the States United, it's been a very clear, slightly breezy, comfortable 80 degree beginning of September. I've been driving around with my top down and with Walter up...to full volume, cruising down the parkways and boulevards. I want to share with my fellow motorists the beauty, brilliance, and mood of Walter. It's just that kind of music.
I just realised I've never really listened to WB's solo stuff. This is great. I like his voice, somewhere between Bruce Cockburn and Bruce Springsteen.
They likely don’t Carr but both Becker and Fagan belong in every hall of music fame there is. Becker now gone but ever forgotten. This album ate my brain when it came out and I welcomed it
In case you're wondering it's alive and well That little habit that you left with me Here in the suburbs where it's hard to tell If I got the bear or if the bear got me How did you know that it would take me down Down to the bottom of the wine dark sea Where you were waiting there to bring me 'round Where you knew all the dopest cuts to be Drowned at the bottom of your mystery Down in the bottom of the wine dark sea Saw your old lady in the park today The legendary smile is wearing thin
This is my favorite solo Walter Becker tune. I can relate to much of the tenderness mentioned below in the lyrics and the sounds that accompany them. I know more than once this song served to elicit some long buried emotions. Have appreciated that about his music, it's raw and real. And sounds so good. Can't beat the steel pedal sounds here... Walter, thank you for this song and all songs you've contributed to humanity. I miss you, and am praying for peace in the hearts of your family. Rest in Peace, your music will live on. God bless.
Who's thumbin this down? You're dead inside.
Alive and well, here. Listen to this CD often, while cruisin' in my Kamakiri...
11 tracks of whack fans unite. RIP Walter, always brilliant.
RIP Walter Becker -- this is one of rock's most underrated albums.
Amen....
Just the way the Brother wanted it.
Not to mention jazz. The fall of 92 is everything I love in Jazz all in one song.
The mix is wild! The HH up close and the snare way back.
Can't believe he passed on. Ugh... Sometimes I hate how time passes by..
RIP Walter, this track is a wistful favourite as I drive along the M6 in northern UK, singing my lungs out, thank you for 40 years of fabulous music
Thank you for that tribute. I concur.

You can tell Walter is a bass player at heart.
Yeah, although listening closely this sounds like a synth bass part, or at least keyboard-played.
@@basehead617 its not its a bass
R.I.P. Walter...no one has ever written so many intelligent lyrics so close to the bone. You were loved.
Painful, dark and revealing....but that is human....thaks for the memories and legacy Walter ...see ya on the other side fella
Karl Hodgetts thank you

Throw in some David Bowie...

Goodbye, dear Walter. Utterly unique and quite irreplaceable.
He references lyrics from "The Bear" within this track. Great tune.
Lyricist extraordinaire!
Feel like I lost an older brother from my white mother. RIP Walter.
Such a great song. Casual elegance, riding on an epic bass line.
RIP....

not even 58,000 views. Criminal.
Here's one in the BILLIONS
"Baby Shark Dance" Pinkfong Baby Shark - Kids' Songs & Stories 7,037,500,000
this one never gets old
Walter gave it all an 'edge'. Without him there is nothing but smooth jazz for corduroy trousers.
cluxseltoot- that's a funny comment but not exactly true.
@@stretch54 It's definitely true lyrically..
Thank you.
Probably my fave from this record.
Mine is probably - yeah, gotta qualify that with "probably", you know how it is - Surf And/Or Die.
R.I.P. Walter Becker、
Thank you for the wonderful music
honesty from living with a junkie ,pure class from walter
+doon funk ummmmm...
Heart-wrenching but can't stop listening to it
Another brilliant slice of Walter. RIP.

Rest in Peace Walter.
Nicely reflective, just a pleasure to listen and appreciate! Miss WB!
RIP Mr Becker
Such a talented man. It's a shame he and Donald Fagen didn't record more solo and Dan albums
loved it
Lovely
My Condolences ! R.I.P.

HE SLAM THIS AND HE IS THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DAN
Thank you Michael above you got it.
To watch the sun rise in the dopest part
WOW
thank you some you, for your lovely comments. keep in mind the lost tribe played on many cuts here.do any of you know then .read!!!
RAW SHIT
Isn't it odd that both Becker and Fagen's solo albums have something essentially "Steely Dan" missing in them???
Yes it is! RIP MR. BECKER
Ken Machek tis true...
ironically Fegan produced this for Walter..
Just like Lennon & McCartney's solo work lacking that essential Beatles energy.
Danny sent me
fix this goddamn snare!
I know, right?
1:49
He sounds a bit like Bowie
The solo at the end is has the Blue Nile in it as well...ace stuff
Not sure if I agree with you there, sounds like a heroin reference
GUT SHIT
SEE HE AINT NICE
