- The formidable and frank Croatian soprano ZINKA MILANOV spoke with Robert Sherman about her MET debut, her 51 (not 50!) MET broadcasts, repertoire (hers and others'), being afraid of Toscanini, etc.
Interesting to hear the speaking voice of one of the greatest sopranos from the genuine "golden age" She politely avoids directly agreeing that her era was indeed the greatest for opera singing but her answer makes her feelings quite obvious. I can't imagine what she would think of today's deplorable standards.
She definitely was very grounded and humble.
I also like the subtle shot she takes at all the lyric sopranos who sing Manon Lescaut.
What a speaking voice ! Amazing singer and amazing woman
I love it😍
"Some students are very intelligent and some are very dumb". Ain't it the truth!
in the beginning I didnt enjoy Milanovs singing but gradually I discovered that, in fact, she was magnificent
☺️☺️☺️
Just two years before her death.
