    I picked up some EVA sometime last year with the intentions of making thin dungeon tiles from them. After watching your vid, it looks totally doable. Just got to find a way to texture them. Cheers!

      I do a bit of texturing in the ruined buildings. Miscast also has some great videos on using EVA foam. And dont be afraid to look at what the cosplay community does, they use alot of EVA foam in their builds

    I really like what you’ve done here. I hadn’t thought to use EVA for this but will definitely try it now. This technique is ideal for terrain that’ll be packed away after each use. I think I’ll skip the flame though, and see if my heat gun will have the same result. Your videos are great, I hope you’ll make some more.

      Thank you! EVA foam has held up really well to rough packaging. And a heat gun will work the same way, no worries.

    Cool fast approach! Love that you got rid of that textured side, always had to work around it

      Thank you! I got used to removing the textured side while making props. Its a pain when you want clean seams and sometimes the glues don't stick as well to it. I really enjoyed seeing you using eva foam too, and picked up a couple ideas!

    Do you think the EVA is hard enough beneath the coating for the textured side to stand up to a hand planer or power sander?

    • @Berserkerworks
      @Berserkerworks  4 роки тому

      Hand planer I'm not sure. I've used a belt sander and a sanding pad attachement on an angle grinder succesfully. EVA is cheap so try whatever tools you have and see what works.

    Good stuff man! Is the fire treatment to remove the cut marks and a sort of tempering?

    • @Berserkerworks
      @Berserkerworks  4 роки тому

      Thanks! Pretty much yes. It removes all the whispy bits from the edges, rounds them out abit. The heat reseals the foam, giving the EVA foam the "skin" it originally had. It doesnt remove the texture from the saw blade, but thats a benifit I think.

    Now I'm wondering how I can convince my wife that I need a band saw for my mini painting hobby. I don't think she'll buy it. Great video! I have some EVA foam here at the house from when I helped my son build a 'nail' (from Hollow Knight) for a Halloween costume. I'm going to have to chop some up with a knife.

    • @Berserkerworks

      I can write you a reference letter if you need one. A knife works just fine. A strip cutting jig might speed it up a bit too if you can rig one up.

      If you are in the UK Aldi do a band saw for 50 quid, it’s what I use on all my EVA builds. It doesn’t have a guide rail but that’s pretty easy to rig up 👍

    Would it be possible to use the outside strips you cut away that looks like corrugatation for sci-fi builds?

    hahaha your dog is just as crazy as mine: in every situation he comes with his toy xD
    quick question: can you give me the measurements of all the stones you use to build your ruins?
    preferably of all the stones you use for this (including floor tiles)
    I like your ruins SUPER *.*
    I left you a subscription for it ;)
    peace fraenky

      She definitely loves to play!
      Most of the bricks are about 1"×1/2" or 1"×1" but really they are all different sizes and I didn't measure anything when I was making them.
      Thanks for watching!

    Would this work with a Proxxon hot wire cutter?

    • @Berserkerworks
      @Berserkerworks  3 роки тому +1

      I don't know. EVA is alot denser. I don't think it would be worth it. A straight edge and a knife would be much faster.

    • @hayatoken2192
      @hayatoken2192 3 роки тому +1

      @@Berserkerworks You're right, it's probably faster. I don't have saws nor the place for them, so i'll go with the knife. BTW your video inspired me to try and build some terrain for and with my kid, because of the stability test :D
